Mary H. Hall, 86, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023. She was born on August 22, 1937, to the late William and Lela Seabolt Hall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and sisters, Adam Hall, Ruby Tomlinson, Eva Dobson, Melgie Beets, Alvinell Martin, and Azalee Stanley. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles D. Hall Jr. ; son and daughter-in-law, Billy (Carolyn) Moore; grandchildren, April Moore Sergent and Lee (Elon) Moore; great-grandchildren, Hannah (Justice) Darden, Ivie Sergent, Aven Serritt-Moore, Carlee Banks, Trip Moore, and Finn Moore; and great-great-grandchildren, August Darden and Davina Darden. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Brannon and Rev. Terry Timms officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers are Barry Holbert, Aven Serritt-Moore, Johnny Martin, Trevor Holbert, Trip Moore, and Justice Darden. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 27, 2023, from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the family of Mary H. Louise "Momma Lou" Parker Nelson, 89, of Calhoun, Georgia passed away Thursday, December 7, 2023. She was born in Gordon County on May 15, 1934, to the late Grady and Jessie Kay Parker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Rayford Parker, Freeman Parker, and Kenneth Parker; sister Clistia Pledger; children, Frances Nichols, Yvonne Fuquea, Warren Smith; grandchildren, Kenny Fuquea, Steve Lee. She was married to the love of her life and father of her children, Hoke Albert Smith in 1959, until his passing in 1981. She later married Joe Nelson, who passed away in 1990. Louise was always at her best when she was working with Senior adults at various events. She always took charge as the Master of Ceremonies and was the self-appointed Bingo caller because everyone could hear her. She was a member of the Senior Adult "Rocking Chair Band" and never became aware that she was a senior adult herself. Louise just generally loved being around people and knew almost everyone. She was a faithful member of Newtown Baptist Church. Louise was blessed with much love from her kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Momma Lou was a special lady with a beautiful heart. Everywhere she would go, she would tell people "Jesus loves you and so do I. " Heaven is rejoicing to have a precious warrior home! She is survived by her children, Anthony (Tonya) Smith, Carter (K. K. ) Smith, Robbie Cox, sister, Bobbie Mattos; grandchildren, Allison Hill, Amanda Hernandez, Maggie Burns, Hannah Smith, Holly Hall, Marleigh Smith, Mike Lee, Tina Lovell, Kevin Smith, Heath Smith, Kim Nix, Kelly Brittain; great-grandchildren, Hadley Hill, Logan Hernandez, Bodhi Hernandez, Carter Smith, Whit Padgett, JonHoke Hall, Bowen Hall, Colby Smith, Braden Smith, Emily Smith. Many nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, December 11, 2023, from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons with Rev. Eddie Brannon and Rev. Brandon Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving are Kevin Smith, Heath Smith, Jon Hall, Colby Smith, Braden Smith, Dr. Kirby Peden, and Trey Padgett. Shelbia Jean Cook Touchstone, 74, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. She was born on October 21, 1949, to the late Glenn Cook and Elsie Reeves Cook. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Chuck Cook. Prior to her retirement, Shelbia worked for Mohawk Industries. She was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Tech Basketball. She adored her grandchildren and always kept up with their activities. She also enjoyed visiting the beach. Shelbia is survived by her daughters, Tonya (Glenn) Goodroe and Jayla (Shane) Serritt; sister, Linda (Mike) Connally; grandchildren, Thomas Goodroe, Kristen Goodroe, Chandler Serritt, and Alivia Serritt; and her dearest friend, Johnny Anderson. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 10, 2023, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 10, 2023, at 3:00 PM from the Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Gay officiating. Music will be arranged by Donna Gay. Rev. Allen F. Melton, 73, of Calhoun, Georgia, went to be with his Savior and Lord on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 7:00 PM while he was a patient at Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center after a period of declining health. He was born in Dallas, Georgia on March 23, 1950, the son of the late Frank and Clara Mae Miller Melton. He was an Ordained Church of God Minister having pastored churches in Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Georgia with his devoted wife Dianne always by his side. Survivors include his wife of 55 Years, Dianne Holmes Melton; sons, Mark Melton and his wife Patricia, Shane Melton and his wife Kathy, and Matthew Melton; grandchildren, Larin Melton, Aubrianna Melton, Sam Melton, Joseph Martin and Brandy Kinsey and his fur baby, Cutie Pie; sisters, Francis George, Lorraine Woody, and her husband Buck, and Louise New and her husband Ernest along with other relatives. The funeral service for Rev. Melton will be conducted Saturday, December 9th at 11:00 AM from Chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Denny Gentry and Rev. David New officiating. Music will be arranged by Nancy Gentry. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove (Ryo) Church Cemetery. Mr. Buford Charles Stanley, better known as Charlie, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023 in AdventHealth-Gordon following a period of declining health. He was born in Gordon County, Georgia on May 21, 1943, the son of the late William Baxter Stanley and Addie Carroll Stanley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Mabel Holbrook, Martha Roberts, Learnie Dodd, Dafie Faulkenberry, Willie Hazelwood, Wincie Raines, Bowen "Bo" Stanley, Baxter Stanley, and Virgil Stanley. Prior to retirement he was a dedicated employee of Mannington for 40 years and he attended Sugar Valley Church of God. Survivors include a sister, Mossie Couey of Texas and a brother and sister-in-law, Bennie (Louise) Stanley of Plainville, GA. A special nephew and great nephew, Billy and William Boswell were his caregivers. Other survivors include, nieces, nephews, cousins along with other family members. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 6th at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev(s) Joey Henderson and Kenny Roberts officiating. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Chang, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and resident of Calhoun, Georgia. Paul left this world on November 29th, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and community spirit that will be remembered forever. Born in Fengyuan, Taiwan in 1937, Paul graduated college with an English degree before immigrating to the United States in 1963 to enroll at the University of Dayton, Ohio, where he earned a degree in business administration. After 10 years of working in accounting at the State Farm Insurance district office in Marshall, Michigan, he moved his family to Georgia to manage Duffy’s Motel North and Restaurant owned by his father-in-law. In 1983, Paul fulfilled a dream of self-employment by taking ownership of the Yellow Jacket Drive-In in Calhoun. This establishment was a cherished gathering place for locals, a testament to Paul's dedication to fostering relationships within the community. For 34 years, he served not only delicious meals, but also a sense of belonging and camaraderie to all who crossed the threshold of the restaurant. He would often turn the grill back on if someone arrived to order food after closing time. Paul also served as a member of the Lions Club. His genuine kindness, infectious smile, and unwavering commitment to making his community a better place endeared him to all who had the pleasure of meeting him. In his 56-year marriage to Linda, he found unwavering support, companionship, and enduring love. Their partnership was a shining example of commitment, and their love created a foundation for a family that Paul cherished deeply. Paul is survived by his loving wife, Linda Chang and their children; Terry Chang and wife Janet of San Jose, CA; Jerry Chang and wife Joanna of Marietta, GA; Jeff Chang and wife Melissa of Irvine, CA; Raymond Chang of Calhoun, GA; and grandchildren, Kaela, Kaeson, Hannah, Matthew, Thomas, Alexis, and Nicholas. Paul's memory will be forever cherished by his family, friends, and the community he served and respected. His absence will be keenly felt by all those who were touched by his kindness. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, Dec 3rd from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Max Brannon and Sons funeral home in Calhoun, GA.
