Mary Laverne Theresa Grommet (Spitznagle) passed into the loving arms of Jesus on September 29, 2023, at the way too young age of 94. After a brief time in the hospital and rehab center, Laverne was fortunate to make it home to her senior living apartment in Sappington, where she was surrounded by family and continually cared for by her daughters. Born in Saint Louis on August 28, 1929, Laverne was preceded in death by her parents Harry (1967) and Matilda Spitznagle (1966) and by her brothers Harry (Marion) Spitznagle (1977) and Don (Blandina) Spitznagle (2011). Her early years were in Richmond Heights where she attended Little Flower Catholic Church and went to elementary school there. After graduating from Maplewood Richmond Heights High School in 1948, Laverne married David Grommet in 1949. They divorced in 1974. Laverne continued to make Maplewood her home until 2003 when she moved into a one-story rental on "The Hill". She spent the last three years at her senior living apartment, which she loved because "I don't have to cook anymore!". Laverne is survived by her four children and their spouses, Ed (Donna) Grommet of Macon, North Carolina, Carol (Bill) Dains of Valley Park, Tom (Lisa) Grommet of Kirkwood, and Nancy (Bob) Bland of Ellington. Laverne loved her ten grandchildren, their spouses, thirteen great grandchildren, and was always a presence at their birthdays, sports events, and band activities. She was their biggest cheerleader!Laverne was a faithful member of Christ Church Maplewood (UCC), enjoying frequent fellowship outings with other members there. Laverne was employed at Famous-Barr's Clayton store for many years. Beginning in the '70s, she started at Boatmen's Bank. Boatmen's was later acquired by NationsBank (now Bank of America) where she retired in 1994. Laverne proudly donated her body to the Center for Anatomical Science and Education at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. As such, there is no visitation or memorial service at this time. The family is considering a Life Celebration in the future.

Dr. Sam Momtazee, a revered physician and beloved family man, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2023, at the age of 87. Born in the ancient village of Meymand, Iran, on January 30, 1936, to Roxanne Dehborzorgi and Ali Momtazee, Sam was a trailblazer from the beginning. His journey from Meymand, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its historic cultural landscape, to the United States, marked the start of an extraordinary life. He was the first person from Meymand to learn how to read, setting a precedent of overcoming challenges with determination and resilience. Dr. Momtazee moved to the United States on July 4, 1962, and joined the residency program in OB/GYN at Barnes Hospital/Washington University Medical School under Dr. Willard Allen. His commitment and skill swiftly elevated him to the position of Chief Resident in 1965. He married in the same year, beginning a family that would grow to include his beloved children and grandchildren. His career flourished as he joined the practice of Dr. James Meagher in South St. Louis, eventually taking over the practice. Known for his deep compassion and expertise, Dr. Momtazee worked closely with the renowned Masters and Johnson, becoming an expert in dyspareunia, a subject he once discussed on the Phil Donahue Show and the Jenny Jones Show. His skill and empathy made a profound impact on his patients, as highlighted in articles in Good Housekeeping and Woman's World magazines. In 1999, Dr. Momtazee retired to Naples, Florida, bringing to a close a distinguished career that touched countless lives. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Momtazee. Dr. Momtazee's legacy is carried on by his children - Nina (Sitzer), John, Jim, Justin, and his ten grandchildren - Michael (Sitzer), Brian (Sitzer), PJ (Sitzer), Samantha, Julia, Jack, Pierce, Summer, James and Lily. He is also survived by Anna Rivituso. A visionary in his field, a cherished member of his community, and a devoted family man, Dr. Sam Momtazee's life was a testament to the power of dedication, kindness, and love. Born in the hamlet of Oolitic, Indiana, on October 23, 1937, Rance's life was a testament to resilience, humor, and a commitment to service. The late Rance Brown is survived by his devoted sons, Jason R. Brown of St. Louis and Kevin S. Brown of Springfield, Missouri, and their respective spouses Paula and Linda. Cherished in his legacy are three adored grandchildren, Hannah, Sarah, and Jacob Rance Brown. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Iota Brown, leaving a void that only the fondest memories can begin to fill. In his formative years, Rance honed his work ethic in the familial domain, laboring in his mother's quaint Oolitic greasy spoon. This early introduction to the rigors of the workforce laid the foundation for a lifetime of diligence and dedication. Rance answered the call of duty during his youth, volunteering for military service and being assigned to the esteemed Air Force Intelligence within the 351st Strategic Missile Wing from 1959 to 1963. His commitment to the nation led him to foreign lands, stationed overseas in the picturesque Azores. Following his honorable discharge, Rance transitioned seamlessly into civilian life, contributing his skills as an underwriter at Ohio Casualty. A distinguished graveside service and military funeral (date/time pending) commemorating Rance's honorable service to his country, will be conducted at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. His final resting place will be alongside fellow patriots, eternally commemorated for his commitment to duty. Rance Robbins Brown will forever be remembered as a beacon of levity and camaraderie, adorned with a perpetual smile and an inexhaustible repertoire of jests. Renowned for his mischievous pranks, he leaves behind a legacy of laughter and warmth that will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of sharing in his joyous company. Shirley had a fulfilling career at Boeing, where she dedicated her time and skills. Her hard work and commitment were evident throughout her professional journey. In her free time, Shirley enjoyed traveling and spending quality time with her family. She cherished every moment shared with her loved ones, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and joy.
