GANNON, Mary Ellen - Entered into rest peacefully with family by her side at the Ross Memorial Hospital on Thursday, September 7, 2023. Mary at the age of 89, was the beloved wife of the late Jim Gannon (2010). Cherished Mom to Shaun Gannon (Bev). Loving Nan to Kyle, Carl and Ricky. Great-Grandma to Chad and Mackenzie. In keeping with Mary's wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at 1:00pm at New Carlow Cemetery. Interment will take place at New Carlow Cemetery, Maple Leaf. If desired, a memorial donation may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. KRAAN, Martin – Martin passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at the age of 92. Loving husband of the late Henny Kraan (née Smit) (2020) for 62 years. Cherished father to Diana (Fred), Doug (Lindsay), Darlene (Gary), Donna (John), Gary, Stephen (Shelley), David (Loretta), lovingly remembered by his 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Dear brother to Joanne (the late Frank), Anne (the late Mike), Rita (the late Ferg), Keith (Judy), Willa (the late Lorne), Jane (Paul), Joe (Deb), and predeceased by Arie, Hank (survived by Marie), Bertha (survived by Carl), and John (survived by Janet). He will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Martin began his life journey on December 28, 1930, in Hoogland, Netherlands, the eldest son of Aart and Wilhelmina Kraan. Martin’s life changed at the age of 19, when he made the decision to seek better opportunities after WWII and immigrated to Canada. The rest of the family; his parents and 10 siblings followed a year later. He met and married Henny on October 19, 1957, and she was the love of his life. Together they raised 7 children in Lindsay, Ontario. Martin was a hard and loyal worker. Starting out he worked for United Van Lines. His passion for farming led him to take over the family dairy farm from his father, on Highway 35. Family, community, and St. Mary’s Church were his life’s passion and commitment. So many happy memories of life on the farm with close and extended family members, deep friendships in the community and a strong connection to the church. After Martin retired from the farm life, both he and Henny devoted time to service in the church. Martin was a loyal member to the Legion of Mary, and he dedicated his time to the community. Martin was involved with the Knights of Columbus achieving their highest rank and was responsible for strengthening its membership, helping organize fund raising events and helping others at every turn. His legacy of compassion and service to his family, friends and the church will always be remembered. A visitation will take place at the Stoddart Funeral Home, 24 Mill Street, Lindsay on Tuesday, November 14th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm and on Wednesday, November 15th from 10:00am until 12:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 31 Russell Street East, Lindsay on Wednesday at 1:00pm. If desired, a memorial donation may be made to St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council 1124 Lindsay, or the Kawartha Lakes Food Source, would be appreciated by the family. McColl, Karen Ann - Passed away peacefully with her sister by her side at Hospice Peterborough on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at the age of 57. Karen was born in Fort William, Scotland and grew up in Oshawa, Ontario. She graduated from the Travel and Tourism program at Fleming College in Peterborough and soon put her education to good use. After a few years working in a hotel in Victoria, BC, Karen was offered an opportunity to embark on a career with Princess Cruises. She started as a junior assistant purser but quickly moved up the ranks to Customer Services Director. She loved her job and was able to travel the world and become friends with many people from many different countries. Home soon called though. Missing her family and wanting to spend time with them brought her back shoreside where she worked as a Business Development Manager for Princess Cruises and Cunard Cruise Line. Unfortunately, the pandemic forced her to make an abrupt departure from the travel industry and she accepted a position as a Sales and Marketing Manager in retirement sales. She loved this position and enjoyed connecting with her coworkers, and the residents, and their families. Karen is predeceased by her mother, Patricia. She is loved and will never be forgotten by her father and stepmother, Keith and Kathy, her brother Keith David and wonderful niece, Meadow. Karen will be missed forever by her sister Maria and brother-in-law Jeff. She was "second mom" to her nephews Tyler (Julia) and Griffin. She loved them fiercely and they loved her the same in return. She leaves behind many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends as well as her kitty cat, Albert. She was a lover of good music, good food and a good cup of tea. A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, November 12, at Celebrations, 35 Lindsay Street North, from 1:00pm until 4:00pm with words of remembrance at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to Hospice Peterborough, or the Peterborough Humane Society would be appreciated. Many thanks to Dr. Mallory of Hospice Peterborough, and all of the wonderful staff there, as well as the many amazing health care people we encountered on this short journey. MEYER, Elli Emma - Entered into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at the Ross Memorial Hospital. Elli at the age of 88, was the beloved wife of Jozef Palko and the late Werner Meyer (1998). Loving Mom of Linda (Jack), Mike, Dave (Marilyn) and the late Brian. Foster Mother to Peter "Joe" McDonald (Wendy) and the late Sandra Armstrong (Larry). Cherished Omi to Jaclyn, Mats (Delaney), Michael (Carolina), Emma (Zubair), Marla, Caleb (Ashleigh), Summer (Rob), Sarah, Larry Jr. , Joshua, Jessica, and Breanna. Adopted Oma to Nathan, Andrew, Joseph, Matthew (Anna), Maria (Chris), and Gregory Ward. Great-Omi to Everly, Oakley, Weston, Felicity, and Malachi. Predeceased by her sister; Helga Friedinger of Germany and survived by half-siblings; Peter Kaemmler and Lieselotte Kaemmler. She will be missed by the Palko family, including her step-daughter Monica Palko, as well as extended family in Germany, and friends. Elli was a very strong, humble women with such deep faith and devoted her life to Our Lord and Our Blessed Mother Mary. She would welcome everyone with open arms and be known as ‘Mom’ and ‘Omi’ to all who knew her. Elli loved her grandchildren so very much, and her most precious memories were with her family and friends. She valued live music, especially when played by those who were close to her. Elli enjoyed gardening, playing cards, being at the cottage, and had the biggest sweet tooth. Elli always worked hard, and had such zest for life, she had so much love to give and will be deeply missed by so many. A Visitation will take place at the Stoddart Funeral Home, on Sunday, October 22nd from 2:00 – 4:00pm and from 6:00 – 8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Luke Church, Downeyville on Monday, October 23rd at 11:00am.
