MARY E. FORWARD WATERVLIET - Mary Elizabeth Forward, 90 of Watervliet, beloved wife of the late G. William "Bill" Forward, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Evergreen Commons Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in East Greenbush. Born on October 21st, 1932 in Troy, NY she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Foran) McInerney. Mary and Bill were married in 1957 sharing thirty-six years together prior to his passing in 1993. Mary was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham. She retired from a clerical position for the NYS State Police in Albany. She enjoyed playing cards with her family, traveling, trips to the beach, the Atlanta Braves, as well as the occasional Manhattan. Out of all the things Mary found pleasure in, her family was her greatest source of joy. She was a beloved and cherished Mom and adored Grandma and Great-Grandma. She will be forever missed and loved by all whose lives she touched. In addition to her late parents and husband Mary is predeceased by her five siblings Frank McInerney, Margaret Lavinus, Loretta Ryan, Elizabeth Marcil, and Thomas McInerney as well as her granddaughter Kara. She is survived by her children Gary (Shari) Forward and Cathy Betke (John), her grandchildren Cydney, Jessica, Brandi, and Kristen, as well as two great-grandchildren Landon and Camden. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, September 14th, 2023 from 9:00 to 11:00 am at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd. , Latham. East Greenbush ~ Tammy J. Merhige, 62, passed away surrounded by her family at St. Peter's Hospital on Monday November 20th 2023, after a hard fought battle with cancer. Tammy was born in 1961 in Albany, NY and is the daughter of the late David Chase and Shirley Kennedy. Tammy began working for the Department of Motor Vehicles in 1991 where she loved helping residents of Rensselaer County. She greeted everyone with a smile and loved talking with all of her customers. More recently Tammy also worked for Stewart's where she could be found in the early morning hours making coffee and breakfast for her customers. She was also a member of the United Professional and Service Employees Union. Tammy also was very involved in her children's interest in sports. She served for many years as a board member of East Greenbush Pop Warner working tirelessly in the concession stand during each game. She also was very involved in the Columbia High School Wrestling Program, serving as President and board member, volunteering countless hours of her time. Tammy is predeceased by her loving husband of almost 25 years Thomas M. Merhige. She met Thomas while serving on the Clinton Heights Ladies Auxiliary in Rensselaer, NY and they were married on May 23, 1983. Survivors include her son, Michael (Kacey) Merhige of East Greenbush, NY; daughter, Valerie Merhige of Rensselaer; loving grandchildren Emelia, Hailey, and Alexander; sister Donna (Frederick) Simone; sister in laws Joanne VanBeusichem and Linda Merhige; several nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday November 26, 2023 from 2~6pm at Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Turnpike Rensselaer, followed by a Memorial Service at 6pm. East Greenbush- Wallace C. Tedesco, age 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 8, 2023. Wally was born in Troy in 1941 and was the son of the late Fiore J. and Virgina (Merola) Tedesco. He graduated from Troy High School in 1959 and later proudly served in the United States Army, until his honorable discharge in 1967. Wally had several jobs throughout his lifetime, most notably, Adirondack Steel Castings Co. , in Watervliet, where he made several life long friends. His greatest joy in life was his children and grandchildren. Wally was very proud of their academic and athletic achievements. Wally is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife, Sally (Leavitt) Tedesco, and his beloved sons, Patrick (Amela Kazazovic) Matthew, and Joseph (Kimberly Weigand) Tedesco; his adored grandchildren, Anna, Jack, Ryan, Giovanni, and Mia Tedesco. He is also survived by his brothers, Fiore and John (Charlene) Tedesco and leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Wally is predeceased by his brother James (Helen) Tedesco. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday, November 19, 2023 from 2-4pm to the W. J. Rick McCabe, 76, passed away Friday, November 3, surrounded by his immediate family, after a short battle with a recurring infection. Rick was a lifelong resident of East Greenbush, graduating from Columbia High School, HVCC, Western Connecticut State College, and then earning his MA. in Education at Russell Sage College. Rick was an avid athlete and a founding member of the Knickerbocker Rugby Team. He enjoyed many years of playing football, baseball, softball and rugby. Rick's passion became golf later in life and he loved playing in Florida, Myrtle Beach, and with his buddies in Casey's Golf league. Early in his career, he fulfilled his dream of being a disc jockey, earning a position as "The Blue-Eyed Cowboy" on WGNA. Rick was a dedicated teacher and coach for 34 years at Rensselaer Junior/Senior High School. He was a proud coach of baseball, women's basketball, and girls' softball. Among his many coaching accomplishments his proudest moments included the 1991 Rensselaer boys basketball NYS Class C championship and the East Greenbush girls travel softball state championships and national playoffs. Following his career as a teacher and coach, Rick took an interest in local governance, becoming an East Greenbush Town Councilman, Deputy Supervisor, and ultimately Town Supervisor where he proudly served for several terms. Rick is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years Linda (Wasson) McCabe, his beautiful daughters Megan McCabe and Lauren McCabe, and sons-in-law Jonathan Abbott and Jeremy Schiermeyer. He was adored by his grandchildren Reid and Mason Schiermeyer, and Quinn and Sloane Abbott. Rick's brother Edward McCabe was not just family, but his lifelong best friend. Rick is also survived by his loving canine son, Jefferson, siblings Dean McCabe and Kim Fusco, many nieces and nephews, and countless friends he called family. East Greenbush - Francis J. Moore, 82, of East Greenbush, passed away on Saturday, October 28th 2023. Francis was born in Albany, New York, the son of the late Joseph F. and Ethel E. (McGeough) Moore. He could often be found at local restaurants chatting with long time friends who knew him as "Frankie", traveling with his life partner, and generally enjoying his retirement. He dedicated himself to community service beginning in 1960, having served nearly 40 years as an active member of W. F. Bruen Rescue Squad and the former W. F. Bruen Hose Fire Company. He retired from the NYS Department of Tax and Finance in 2002, after serving for 37. 5 years. He served during the early years of the Vietnam Era in Iceland for the United States Air Force as an Airman First Class and recalled this time often with great fondness. Before passing, Frank was able to see his own father honored and presented with a number of medals to family for Honorable Service during World War II. Survivors include his life partner and best friend, Rosemary Vogt; his son, James Moore and daughter-in-law Theresa; and his daughters, Diane Moore, and Kathleen Moore. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Joseph F. Moore, and his sisters, Elizabeth Gizzi, Lela Briner, and Ethel Memole. East Greenbush John "Nick" Earing, 70, of East Greenbush passed away peacefully Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Nick was born in Albany, New York, son of the late Willis D. Earing and Elizabeth (Mink) EaringNick attended Christian Brothers Academy and was Captain of the Tennis Team. He graduated from the Junior College of Albany. Nick was the General Manager for Maiden Lane Parking for over thirty years. Nick loved football, tennis, golf, cooking and playing guitar. He had a beautiful voice. Out of all these things, his deepest love was for his family and friends and their many gatherings. He was the speech giver at these functions, master storyteller and always had the perfect joke to make all smile. Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years Karen Earing. Three Daughters, Alicia (TJ) Rucinski, Shannon (Greg Smith) Earing, Kelly (Michael) Kettenbach; Two Sisters, Lynne Earing (Vincent Torre), Marcia Dillon. Six beloved grandchildren Wyatt, McKenna, Catherine, Julia, Grace and Teddie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition, he was predeceased by his sister, Joy O'Brien and her husband Dave. She was born in Troy on March 12, 1938, the daughter of the late Harry J. and Margaret (Lewis) Cushing, Sr. Marjorie was raised in Watervliet and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School in Troy and Mildred Elley Business School. She was employed as a secretary for NYS Workers Compensation for over 24 years before retiring in1994. She also was employed at the Watervliet High School cafeteria for a few years while raising her children. She was a communicant of the former St. Patrick's Church in Watervliet and was the president of the School 9 PTA while her children were in grade school. Marjorie was an excellent seamstress and made a large detailed doll house for her daughter that has since been passed down to her granddaughter. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren and enjoyed vacations to Lake George, Cape Cod, Maine and Florida. She was the wife of the late Joseph F. Finn, Jr. who died in 1991; loving mother of Margaret M. (Kevin J. ) Donnelly of Paramus, NJ and Joseph F. (Melissa A. ) Finn, III of Cohoes; adored grandmother of Conor J. Donnelly, Clare M. Donnelly, Harrison J. Donnelly, Madeline A. Finn and Meaghan G. Finn; dear sister of Kathleen Bayly of Watervliet, Elizabeth Cushing of Averill Park and the late Harry J.
