Sioux Falls, SD ~ Mary Lee Fastert, age 64, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at her home in Sioux Falls, SD. Her family will be present to greet friends for visitation on Sunday, September 17, 2023 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls, SD. Her funeral time is currently pending for Monday, September 18, 2023, please check back on Tuesday afternoon for an update. Thank you. Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Justin Fastert and his wife, Megan of Rock Rapids, IA and Danielle Klarenbeek and her husband, Jeremy of Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren, Aurora, Brody, Bridget, Hailey and Jackson; one sister, Karla Schmidt of Watertown, SD; nephew, Chris Schmidt; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralland and Judy Titze; and two grandchildren, Sophia Ann Klaasen-Fastert and Baby K.

Memory eternal. Loving mother of Vesna (Almir) and Jasna (Vladimir), proud grandmother of Deniza, Edvin and Andrej, caring sister of Slobodan and Milojka, dearest mother-in-law of Satka. Gordana's kind and generous heart will be sorely missed by numerous other family members and dear friends in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, the USA and worldwide. Mark Allen Thompson, 63, passed away on December 5, 2023, of natural causes. Mark Allen Thompson was born on March 13th, 1960, in the U. S. Navy Hospital, San Diego, California to Milton and Beverly Thompson. He attended Washington High School in Sioux Falls, SD. On August 27th, 1984, he received his certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship where he completed his occupation for Master Carpenter. Mark was always recognized by his employers for his outstanding talents in his work. Mark married his first wife, Sylvia Crawford, on July 15th, 1987. They had two daughters, Shannan and Michelle. Later in life, he married former wife, Pam Knoff. He continued to have a great friendship with them both. He had a passion for classic automobiles and once had a shiny, yellow 1946 ford pickup truck. In his younger years, he enjoyed running and could run for miles. His favorite holiday was the 4th of July. He always loved to celebrate with his family. He was a great swimmer and loved fishing for walleye. He was fond of his collection of skeleton skulls and would find the simplest things to be so valuable. Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Shannan (Steve) Schiller of Delano, MN, Michelle (Jeff) Thompson of Sioux Falls, SD; 7 grandchildren, Alicia, Sophi, Kaytlin, Taitum, Logan, Vivian, Cashton; his siblings Carol (Richard) Baumgart, Dale Thompson, Cindy (Doug) Weatherwax, Carrie Thompson, and Juli Rothenbuehler and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton, and Beverly.Show more

Lynn M. Shattuck, aged 66, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Ava's Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Lynn was a beloved mother, a devoted daughter, and a cherished friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Lynn Marie Shattuck was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on August 19, 1957, to her parents, Clark and Lois (Lappi) Shattuck. She graduated from Neil Armstrong High School in Plymouth, MN, in 1975 and continued her education at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD, where she earned her bachelor's degree in 1979. After college, Lynn settled in Sioux Falls and worked as a special education teacher at Children's Care from 1979-2006, Discovery Elementary from 2006-2016, and Learning Adventures Preschool from 2016 until she retired in 2020. During her retirement, Lynn worked as a substitute teacher for the Sioux Falls School District. Lynn was deeply passionate about teaching and found inspiration in her students.
