Brenda "BP" Ellen Poole of Albany passed away at her residence Friday, March 1, 2024 at the age of 59. She was born in Perry, GA, to John Quinton Poole and Glenda Fogarty Wood. Brenda was a 1982 graduate of Dougherty High School and a Certified Trainer for Longhorn Restaurants. She loved people and always had a huge smile on her face and a word for everyone she came in contact with. She loved all genres of music and was an avid landscaper. Brenda was also a history buff and an avid tennis player. She was the captain of the Raquettes Tennis Team of Macon and her team won the State Championship in 2019. Brenda is survived by her mother and father, Fred J. Wood and Glenda Wood of Albany; a brother Paul Poole (April) of New Smyrna Beach, FL; two sisters, Shelby Wood Chu (Vy) and Julie D. Wood, all of Leesburg; a beloved aunt, Gayle Griffin of Tampa, FL; eight nieces and nephews that she loved dearly, Ashley Doyle, Jamie Doyle, Cassey Humphrey, Austin Doyle, Hunter Poole, Essie Doyle, Carter Doyle and Raelynn Edmunds; a special cousin, Mason Griffin; and her furbaby and constant companion, Molly. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services with burial following in Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends prior to the service Saturday beginning at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home in Cordele, GA. Houston Ray Cannon, Sr. 85, of Albany, passed away surrounded by his family at his home on County Line Rd.His funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Monday March 4, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Putney with Rev. Danny Evans officiating. Interment will be at 3:00 PM, Monday, March 4, 2024 at Roberts Cemetery in Miller County.Ray was born, August 16, 1938 to Stephen and Merle (Mock) Cannon, was one of six children and lived in the Hentown Community of Blakely. Upon graduation from school, Ray joined the U. S. Air Force serving for four years as a Radio Communications Operator.On August 11, 1957, he married Edith Merle Granger and they celebrated sixty-five years of blessed marriage and they had three children. Prior to and after the Air Force, Ray worked with the Georgia Department of Transportation as an Engineer for thirty-four years. Two days after his retirement he went to work with Dougherty County Public Works as a Consultant.His love of the Lord showed in his love for his family, friends, his church and church family. He enjoyed cutting grass on his four acres, planting his garden, growing grapefruits to share with everyone, fishing and building things to make it easier around the house and shop. Ray and his wife enjoyed two meals a day at the local 3 Squares Diner where they called him "Papa" and spoiled him to his delight.Ray loved the Lord and was a devoted servant and attended First Baptist Church of Putney where he was a Honorary Deacon.Ray was preceded in death by his parents, brother Aubrey Cannon, sisters, Margie Cannon Bynum and Bessie L. Cannon Lisenby.Survivors include his wife Edith Cannon, daughters, Pamela Cannon Long (Roger), Norma Jean Evans (Daniel), son Houston Ray Cannon, Jr. (Deann), grandchildren, Aaron J. Wilson, Justin R. Wilson, Christopher A. Evans, Jeremy D. Evans, Kristina D. Cannon and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Don Cannon, and Norman Cannon and many nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Monday, March 4, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Putney.

United States Army Veteran, Mr. Charles Eugene Bagley, Jr. of 110 Constitution Court, Albany, Georgia died Saturday, February 3, 2024. The funeral service, with military honors, will be held Sunday, February 11, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Crisp County Middle School Gymnasium in Cordele, Georgia. On Thursday, August 1, 1968 Charles Eugene Bagley, Jr. was welcomed to this world. Born to Charles E. Bagley, Sr. and Roodyne Riley Bagley, he was affectionately known to his family and friends as “Chuck” or “Chucky”. Early in life he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with the Bethel CME Church. Even as a child growing up in the public schools of Crisp County, Chucky had a way of always being the “life of the party.” He proudly graduated from the Crisp County High School in 1986. He went on to do further studying at Albany Technical College. Wherever he went, he left a lasting impression. From high school, to his service in the United States Army as an Airborne Ranger, to his love for motorcycles, or just a simple chance encounter, nobody could forget Chuck. Family meant a great deal to him and he thoroughly enjoyed sharing his thoughts with those he loved the most. On Saturday, February 3, 2024 our father, grandfather, brother and friend, left this world. While our hearts will never completely mend, we are grateful for the many special memories shared over the years. His memory will be cherished by his children, Antonio Bagley of Atlanta, Georgia, Nicole Kotalik of Illinois, Rachel (Chris) Popham of Warner Robins, Georgia, Charles E. “Trey” Bagley, III of Decatur, Georgia, Dejour Shaquan “Quan” Colson of Cordele, Georgia, Akenyon (Luz) Bagley of Mt. ALBANY, GA.- David Michael McWilliams, 75, of Albany, died Friday, February 16, 2024, at his home.A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Born May 21, 1948, in Dayton, OH, he was the son of the late Clarence Russell McWilliams and Leona Seaman McWilliams. Mr. McWilliams was a Vietnam Veteran, having faithfully served his country in the US Navy as a Naval Construction Force Seabee. He was a welder and blacksmith who could make or repair almost anything on land or sea. Mr. McWilliams enjoyed taking photographs and was interested in all things relating to the history of Native American Indians. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Sue Johnson McWilliams; and a grandson, Michael Cerfus.Survivors include his children, Sue Ann Reyna and husband Joe, Sheryl Lynn Cerfus and husband Joey, Scotty Wayne McWilliams and wife Vivian; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Sandy McWilliams Baker; special nephew, Ricky McWilliams and wife Libby; along with several extended family members and friends. Howard Burnette Cox, Jr., 84 of Albany, GA died Monday, February 12, 2024 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Monday February 19, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Philema Road Baptist Church. Rev. Aaron McCulley will officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery with military honors. A native of Albany, GA Mr. Cox spent most of his life in the law enforcement industry. He served in the United States Air Force as a security officer. Mr. Cox continued to serve after his active-duty service time as an officer at the Albany Police Department, Naval Air Station Albany, and Robins Air Force Base. He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church where he sung in the choir. Mr. Cox currently attends Philema Road Baptist Church with his son. Mr. Cox enjoyed gardening, fishing, and bargain hunting at local yard sales and estate sales He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Most of all he enjoyed his weekly lunch on Wednesday with his son Derrick. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Louise Cox a sister, Betty Powell and two nephews, Brian Cox and Brad Cox. Survivors include his son, Derrick Cox (Holly Strickland), a grandson, Ryan Thomas Cox and a brother Bobby Cox (Beverly). The family will receive friends Sunday, February 18, 2024 from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home.
