Mary Jane Chapman Downs, age 77, of Oregon, OH, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. She was born June 23, 1945, in Toledo, OH, to Leo and Pauline (Dulworth) Chapinski. Mary was a 1964 graduate of Waite High School and later worked as a cashier at FoodTown. She was a free spirit who enjoyed travelling with her late husband, an occasional margarita, and bingo. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Mary leaves behind her sister-in-law, Donna; her nieces and nephews, Mark (Debbie), Shelley (Keith), Calley (Jay), and Kathy (Steve); her great-nieces and great-nephews; and many extended family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyce T. Downs, and her parents. Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd. in Oregon, OH on Monday, January 2, 2023 from 10:00 a. m. until 12:00 p. m. with the funeral service to be held at 12:00 p. m. Mary will be buried with her husband at Lake Township Cemetery, Millbury, OH. The family wishes to thank her aides, especially, Marissa, Aimee, Sheila, Tammy, and Victoria, for their compassionate care. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the local humane society.
