Gustav Jaeggi

Age - 89

In Memoriam: Gustav "Gus" Jaeggi, 1934 - November 7, 2023. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gus, beloved father, and grandfather, who peacefully left us at the age of 89 at his home, in Glastonbury, CT with an angel by his side, his daughter Gina. He is survived by his four loving children, Steve, Brian (Megan), Gina (Rich), Richard (Rachel) and seven cherished grandchildren Christopher, Emily, Caitlin, Kayla, Hally, Nicholas and Justin. Gus was a pillar of strength and wisdom, known for his unwavering love and dedication to his family. He was born in Subingen, Kanton Solothurn, Switzerland in 1934 and had a difficult and complex childhood, which served as a catalyst for his drive and desire for success. His engineering apprenticeships took him around the world, spending time in England, India and Japan, then the US, where he enrolled in English class, and was set up on a blind date with Marie, who would soon thereafter become his wife of 54 years. Once married, the family moved a few times in support of Gus' career spending time in Williston Park, Huntington, and Webster NY, then Bethel, CT and finally locating in Simsbury, CT in 1978. Gus also started MJ Tool Manufacturing, a business which flourished with his mechanical engineering talents, a legacy now continued by his son, Brian. Gus had a natural talent for gardening and building rock walls, dedicating his time and attention to every home he lived in, including those of each of his children. Every project a result of his perfectionism which gave him pure joy. Gus and Marie traveled quite a bit; Switzerland always held a special place in his heart for its beauty. Gus and Marie built their dream home in Wilmington, NC and after 7 years, rebuilt it again in Granby, CT where the extended family enjoyed many family gatherings. Throughout his life, Gus demonstrated a profound commitment to his family. He worked tirelessly to provide for his loved ones and instilled in them the values of hard work, integrity, and kindness. His wisdom and guidance were a source of inspiration to all who knew him. In addition to being a dedicated father, Gus was a doting grandfather. He reveled in the joys of watching his seven grandchildren grow and flourish, filling their lives with many cherished memories. Gus leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and strength. He will be fondly remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts and memories of those he touched. Our family would like to extend our appreciation for Dr. Adam Boruchov for extending Gus' quality of life with a level of care and compassion for not only the patient, but the entire family; words cannot express our gratitude. We would also like to thank the nurses from Trinity Health of New England at Home Hospice Team who worked with our family to ensure our father's comfort in his final days. Rest in peace Gus, you will be deeply missed and forever loved. We all take comfort in knowing you are now reunited with the love of your life. The family will be celebrating Gus's life privately. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer society in his honor. Please visit Gus's Book of Memories at www. vincentfuneralhome. com for online tributes.Show more
