Mary Eleanor Armbruster Dininger, age 100, a lifelong resident of Shelby, Ohio went to be with the Lord October 5, 2023 in Mansfield She was born May 12, 1923, to Urban and Matilda (Blanchard) Armbruster at the Armbruster family home on Myers Avenue in Shelby The fifth child in a family of eight, Mary helped her father in the family's home bakery, greasing the bread pans and slicing and wrapping the loaves At eighteen years of age, Mary took the bus to Mansfield to begin employment as a housekeeper and nanny with a family on Coleman Road In 1941, during World War II, Mary found work at the Autocall, then at Westinghouse At Westinghouse she inspected ammunition shells and worked on airplane wings bucking rivets Also during the war, she worked at the Wilkens Air Force Base in the telephone room and Central Files In 1944, she decided to stay at home to enjoy time with her baby niece, Evelyn Sargent Morris In 1945, Mary went to work at Ideal Electric winding motors, a skill she was familiar with because her father, Urban Armbruster also wound huge armatures at Ideal Electric Mary became a full time homemaker when she and Melvin (Joe) Dininger married After her children were grown, Mary put her homemaking skills to use at the cafeteria at the Shelby Junior High After eight years, she retired from the school cafeteria and enjoyed many volunteer activities such as being a Red Cross volunteer at Shelby Memorial Hospital and transporting blood to Columbus with Margaret Bertke She volunteered at the hospital for twenty-two years and sang in the Saint Mary's choir for 24 years She enjoyed being a member of the Peacemakers Quilt Club from 1981 to 2009 Mary delivered meals for the Meals on Wheels program for many years She was a member of the local AARP and enjoyed traveling with the club and AAA tours After her husband died, Mary went back to school and earned her GED at 65 years of age She enjoyed travel, knitting, crocheting and especially making quilts for her family In her later years, she kept up with the daily news with newspaper and television and following family news on Facebook and email She particularly enjoyed working with her niece, JoAnn Armbruster Brown, on family genealogy She assisted JoAnn in collecting and recording family history Mary was a lifelong member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and attended St Mary's School Mary was dearly loved by her family and will be missed by her three children: James (Karen) Dininger of Greenacres, WA and their children, Amy (Austin) Abelar of California, Kevin Dininger of Washington and Alex Dininger of North Carolina; Lawrence (Brenda) Dininger of Mansfield, OH and their children, Sara Hall of Mansfield, and Kristin (Lance) Seaman of Willard, OH, Michael (Joyce) Dininger of Ostrander, OH and their children Barbara (Chad) Fairchild of Dublin, OH and Joseph Dininger of Kentucky She is also survived by great-grandchildren Christopher, Matthew & Thomas Seaman, Jessica & Josh Hall, Evelyn, Oliver, Leo and Violet Fairchild and Eli Abelar She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin (Joe) Dininger in 1986, her parents, Urban and Matilda Armbruster, and her daughter, Susan Dininger in 1969 She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph Clair Armbruster, Francis Regis Armbruster, John (Jack) Armbruster, and Urban Eugene Armbruster and sisters, Marcella Ulmer, Rose Marie Sargent Trago, and Dorothy Humphrey Friends may visit Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 10:00AM - 12:00 PM, A funeral mass will be held immediately following at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church on with Father Chris Mileski officiating Interment will immediately follow in Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Southern Eye Bank, 2701 King Man Street Ste 200, Metairie, LA 70006 or to Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 29 West St Shelby, OH 44875 To to the family or in memory of Mary Dininger, please

Cory Young, age 34, resident of Shelby, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, November 26, 2023, as a result of a medical complication. Born June 10, 1989, to Larry "Bubba" Young Jr. and Dian (Reed) Adkins he had been a lifelong area resident. A 2007 graduate of Shelby High School, he was employed with Stanley Black & Decker in Willard. An avid Ohio State Buckeye fan, Cory also enjoyed going to races at the Mansfield raceway and attending sprint car races in Attica. A great cook, he loved to spend time outdoors and looked forward to grilling out with family and friends. Cory will be remembered for his bright and vibrant personality. He was quick to make those close to him smile by always dancing and singing. He was very generous and always helping others when he could. Above all he loved his children, and he cherished every moment he spent with his family. He is survived by his mother Dian (Terry) Adkins, girlfriend Brittaney Workman of Shelby, children; Jayden, Amy, and Bentley Young, Camden, Caiden, Carden, and Emmary Kinney, his siblings; Brett (Sarah) Young of Galion, and Rusty (Jordan) Reed of Collins, his maternal grandmother Margaret Jordan of Ontario; stepsister Tammy (Tony) Hainline of Shelby; Todd (Brittainey) Adkins of Tiro; five nieces; Kylie, Alexa, Addy, Brilyn, Grace and one nephew Colton, and many cousins, other relatives, and close friends, who will miss him dearly. In addition to his father Larry "Bubba", he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Larry and Doris Young, his maternal grandfather Arthur Dean Reed, step grand-father Richard "Dick" Jordan, Uncle Richard Reed and Aunt Lisa Lacy; Cousin Tammy Knipp; and two stepbrothers Tim and Brian Adkins. Jeanette Marie Allard, age 91, a Shelby / Richland County resident for over 84 years died Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Marion General Hospital. Born Jan 14, 1932, in Shelby, OH to Clarence and Nina Bly, she grew up in Ganges, OH where her father owned the general store and John Deere dealership. She attended a one-room schoolhouse in Ganges until 2nd grade then attended Shelby City Schools. She was involved in the choir, band and was a majorette during her high school years, graduating in 1950. Jeanette attended Baldwin Wallace where she was a majorette and a member of Delta Zeta sorority. She obtained her degree in teaching. She taught for 32 years, beginning her career at Highland High School in Medina County (1955-58). Then moved to Shelby where she taught from 1960 - 77 and finally Pioneer JVS from 1977 - 1988. She taught business subjects including business law, typing, shorthand and accounting. Her involvement extended outside the classroom as she served as advisor to Tri-Hi-Y and to the typists for Whippet Tales, the school newspaper. Jeanette finished her career as a Curriculum Consultant at Pioneer JVS (years 1986-2001) More than 2,500 students benefited from Mrs. Allard's teaching and guidance. Over the years she regularly saw many of her students in the community and even far from home. She always remained interested in their lives, families, and careers. She inspired many to achieve a higher level than the students themselves thought was possible. Teaching was her passion, and she has endless stories she fondly talks about her students. Celebrated into the Shelby High School Hall of Distinction in 2019. Jeanette is the loving mother of Mark (Darice) Allard of Powell Ohio, and Vicki (Shane) Kimmel of Marion Ohio; proud grandma to Lindsay Allard (fiance Jackie Cunningham) of Powell, Ohio, Matthew (Kayli) Allard of New Albany, Ohio, Dr. Kamryn Kimmel of Chicago, IL, and Nicholas Kimmel of Chicago, IL. Proceeded in death by her mother and father, as well as a brother, and sister-in-law Charles (Anna Mae) Bly. Survived by children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews: Charlene (Kenny) Burrer, Garry (Julie) Bly, Karen (Mark) Harvey, Jim (Cathy) Bly, and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews and cousins. Jeanette remained involved in community-related initiatives. She co-authored a book on the history of one-room schoolhouses in Richland County and participated in the preservation of Morton School, now a museum. She is a member of the First Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She served for several years on the board of trustees for the Shelby Senior Center. She also was a board member of the Community Concert series. Her other interests include travel, bridge, antiques, golf, and anything her grandchildren were doing. Jeanette lived at Primrose in Marion for the last year of her life where she enjoyed the other residents, loving caregivers, activities and the company of her faithful cat, Pepper.
