Mary Creasey, 99, of Kewanee, died Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Kewanee Care Home. Mary was born December 18, 1919 in Kewanee, the daughter of Mina and Stephanie (Burkowski) Shinkevich. She attended Kewanee schools and graduated with the class of 1937. She married William (Bill) Creasey in Kewanee on September 2, 1944, he preceded her in death on February 14, 1998. They farmed in the Osceola and Elmira areas. Mary was a homemaker, lifeguard in earlier years, 4-H leader, and election judge. After Bill passed away, Mary moved to Kewanee. Mary is survived by her daughters, Connie (Ed) Ostrowski, Kewanee, and Martha (Greg) Easter, Peoria. She has three grandchildren, Vicki Ostrowski, Sydney, Australia, Steven (Erin) Easter, Bloomington, IL, and Andrew (Marjorie) Easter, Cedar Falls, IA. Also surviving are seven great grandchildren, Maggie Jo, Lucas, Ali, Alison, Reagan, Lincoln, and Greyson; and a brother-in-law, Robert Pancner, Darien, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, John; a grandson, Mark Ostrowski. Also preceding her were six brothers, John, Paul, Doc, Pickles, Steve, Leo and two sisters, Stephanie Shurnis and Alice Stontz. Mary enjoyed reading, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, listening to Russian music and visiting family and friends. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am, Friday, February 15, 2019 at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home. Pastor Martin Gutzmer will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
