Obituary for Mary Ann (Asaro) Castagnola November 17, 1932 - September 19, 2023 Mary Ann passed away peacefully with her husband Joe by her side after a lengthy battle with dementia. Born in San Diego's Little Italy to Joseph and Mary Asaro, Mary Ann was the 2nd oldest of five children. She attended Washington Elementary School, Roosevelt Junior High and San Diego High School. She worked at Bank of America and General Dynamics Convair before marrying her husband of 63 years, Joe. She taught her children to have respect for others, work hard, always had a warm homemade meal on the table and was there to shuttle her children around for various activities and sporting events. Mary Ann cherished God, her family and looked forward to larger family gatherings during the holidays. Loved to dance and shared this passion with her grandchildren by teaching them her moves. She relished getaways to Palm Desert and great memories shared with Emil and Mo Ghio and Joe and Tina Cutri. Survived by her husband Joe and their 3 children Joseph Jr. , Susan (John) Conley, and Stephen, grandchildren Robert, Christina (Ramy) Judeh and Joseph Conley, Sophia and Jake Castagnola and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Preceded in death by her sister Angelina (Lloyd) Johnsey; survived by siblings, Serafina (preceded in death by husband Pete Cutri), Anthony (Shirley) Asaro, and Rosemarie (John) Canepa.
