MARY CARTER - Mary Lucille McDill Carter, age 86, of Columbus, MS, passed away October 5, 2023, at Trinity Healthcare. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Memorial Gunter Peel Chapel with Rev. Tim McDill officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Mrs. Carter was born March 20, 1937, in Pickens County, AL, to the late Walter Thomas and Margie Beatrice McDowell McDill. Mrs. Carter worked as a self employed housekeeper for over 25 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Odell S. Carter, great grandson, Robert Brock Richardson, great granddaughter, Elayna Grace Carter, 9 brothers and 3 sisters. Survivors include her sons, Steve Carter of West Point, MS, and Mike Carter and his wife Helen of Columbus, MS, daughters, Barbara McNutt and her husband Tom of Apollo Beach, FL, and Rena Hamrick and her husband Mark of Columbus, MS, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Aaron Boyd, Peyton Ford, Jordan Hamrick, M. J. Hamrick, Brett Richardson, and Robert Richardson. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Carter, Morris Knighton, Brock Richardson, Glen Richard, and Troy Richard. Mrs. Hoopes was born on February 19, 1936, in Carlisle, AR to the late James Alfred Nichols and Clara Handy Nichols. She was a teacher for 35 years and taught at many schools. Mrs. Hoopes was a devout Catholic and attended Annunciation Church. She enjoyed painting, needlework, reading, coloring, and going to thrift and antique stores. Mrs. Hoopes loved her dogs- Emma, Cootie, and Prissy. Mrs. Hoopes was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hoopes was preceded in death by her husband- James Hoopes; sons- Jon Michael Hoyt, and William Edward Hoyt; grandmother- Arkie Hicks, and brothers- Jimmy Nichols, and Roger Nichols. Mrs. Hoopes is survived by her daughters- Theresa (Dale) Pendley, Barbara (Jeff) Hoopes, and Ellen (Shannon) Bowles; grandchildren- Richard (Erin) Ammerman, Valerie Hoopes, Angela Collins, Drew Hoyt, and Russell Pendley, great grandchildren- Austin James Collins, and Michael Collins; and her sister- Judy Morris. Harold Edwin Barton, 85, of Columbus, MS. passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023,at his residence. Visitation will be Sunday, December 3, 2023, from 1:00 P. M. -2:00 P. M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Service will be Sunday, December 3, 2023, at 2:00 P. M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS with Bro. Kenny Gardner officiating. Mr. Barton was born November 6, 1938, to the late Walter E. Barton, and Nellie Harrell Barton. Mr. Barton attended school at Pleasant Hill in Vernon, Alabama and New Hope School. He worked for 2 years in Mollina, Illinois then 9-1/2 years at MUW, and then retired from General Tire after 30 years. Barton was a race promoter at Columbus Speedway for 5 years in Columbus, MS. He attended dirt races throughout the southeast. Mr. Barton loved to cut his yard, loved growing tomatoes, and loved traveling to country and gospel concerts and cruises to Niagara Falls, and Canada and Grand Canyon and the TN Mountains. He also loved the supper clubs, the Junction, Tags, Gatlinburg, Branson, and Longview Opry. In addition to his parents, Mr. Barton is preceded in death by his wife- Shirley Moore Barton and stepson - D. J. Jennings. Mr. Barton is survived by his loving wife of 13 years- Olive Anne Barton; son- Michael Edwin (Cheriee) Barton; daughter- Cindy (Daniel) Westmoreland; stepdaughter- Lisa Ulmer; brother- Eddie (Judy) Barton, grandchildren- Alan Smith, Amanda Prince, Haley (josh) Reynolds, Joanna (Preston) Hall, Summer (Noah Shackelford) Barton, Alaina (John) Gilbert; great grandchildren-Ivy Reynolds, Sutton Reynolds, Briar Shackelford, Wyatt Gilbert; nephew- Joey Barton, and James " Scooter" Barton. Willie George Goulde, Sr. was born on August 17, 1939 in Columbus, MS to Foster Hinton and Effie Goulde Goodwin. Willie, affectionately known as "Old Boy", "Bingo" and "Russell" accepted Christ as his personal savior at a young age. He was a strong believer in the Lord. He was a faithful member of Mt. Pleasant M. B. Church where he served as a Deacon and a part of the Administration Team under the leadership of Pastor Lee Andrew Sanders. He served faithfully until he became ill and was unable to attend church. Willie was a devoted husband, dad, son, brother, brother-in-law, granddad, and a true lover of people. He was always smiling with the greeting of "Old Boy" to all he came in contact with. He was a go-getter and a man of many talents. He worked up until he was 82 years old. He was employed at Sqwincher Corporation for over 30 years. The Sqwincher Family was another family that was adopted by our dad. He loved them as much as they loved him. Mr. Goulde was preceded in death by his father, Foster Hinton; mother, Effie Goodwin, a loving devoted wife of 60 years, Bernice Goulde; one son, Jerry Goulde; one brother, Michael Hinton. This was his extended family that loved him like a son, brother, and he loved Elizabeth like one of his own. Anne Earl Stanley Hendrix passed from this life onto her eternal reward on November 24, 2023. She was born on November 20, 1925, to Perry B. Stanley, Sr and Willie Mae Smith Stanley. She lived her whole life in Columbus, MS except for five years she lived in McAllen, TX. Mrs Hendrix worked at Mission Air Base as an administrative assistant. After returning to Columbus, Mrs. Hendrix worked at Columbus AFB and then Ceco as an erector coordinator for 18 years. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 29, 2023, from 12:00 P. M. to 1:30 P. M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Service will be Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at 2:00 P. M. at Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, MS, with Bro. Tommy Gillon officiating. Graveside will follow after service. Mrs. Hendrix was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joseph A Hendrix, Jr, brother, Perry Stanley, Jr, sisters, Mary Kline, Margaret McReynolds, and Dorothy Cole, granddaughter, Emily Hendrix, and great-grandson, Harrison Hendrix. Mrs Hendrix was a devoted wife and mother. She loved God, her family, and her friends. She lived in Columbus, Mississippi, her whole life. Mrs. Weathers worked as a preschool teacher at First Baptist Church. She loved Jesus, her children, and her grandchildren with all her heart. A memorial service will be Sunday, November 26, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Memorial Gunter Peel Chapel with military honors and Rev. Granville Wiggins officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. Mr. Perrigin was born September 9, 1941, in Columbus, MS, to the late Willie Evelyn and Eloise Richardson Perrigin. He was a graduate of McCarty High School in Ft. Pierce, FL, and a veteran of Korea serving in the United States Army. Mr. Perrigin retired from Lucent Technology and was a member of Victory Tabernacle Church where he served as Senior Deacon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Mae Smith.
