On December 2, George H. Dudley of Northville peacefully transitioned into the embrace of the Lord. Born on May 29, 1941, in Grand Rapids, MI, he was the cherished son of Mary and George N. Dudley. At the completion of the 8th grade, George, along with his parents and siblings Dave, Diane, Kathy, and Karen, relocated to Detroit. There, he and his brother attended St. Theresa High School. Following in his brother Dave's footsteps, George joined the US Army after high school. In 1963, he met his best friend and his future wife, Joan Nugent Dudley, and they exchanged vows in 1965.
George's professional journey revolved around the computer industry, commencing with Caelus Memories of California and culminating with Intergraph Corporation of Alabama. Amidst his career, George became the proud father of three daughters and one son: Maribeth, Julie, Paul, and Kathryn. Beyond his work hours, George took great pleasure in playing golf, duck hunting, and fishing in inland lakes and rivers, seeking the thrill of luring salmon to the line. Travel was another passion, and he explored 33 states, various countries, and islands.
His fondest summer memories were spent up north at Kathryn and David's vacation home, surrounded by family, especially his grandchildren: Jack and Jessica Smith, children of Maribeth and Bill Smith; Aidan and Brennan McCarthy, Julie's two sons; and Kate and George P. Dudley, Paul and Jenn's children. A year ago, the eldest grandson, Jack, married Tamara, who quickly became the apple of George's eye.
Despite his busy life, George managed to find time to coach soccer, serve on the parish council at church, and volunteer. Preceded in death by his brother David and sister Kathy, as well as his daughter Maribeth (Bill Smith) and son Paul (Jenn Dudley). George is survived by his wife Joan, daughters' Julie and Kathryn. George's legacy as a devoted husband, father, grandpa, uncle, and friend will endure. Known for his kindness, humor, love, generosity, humility, and selflessness, George was a man who found joy in making people laugh. He will be deeply missed by many, especially his family, friends, and co-workers.
