Visitation for Mary Kathryn Dunaway Barecky, age 64 of Huntsville will begin Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at 6:00 p. m. until 8:00 p. m. at Groveton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 10:00 a. m. in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton. Interment will follow in Taylor Cemetery in Trinity. Pallbearers: Ryan Cathy, Michael Walker, Adam Walker, Alan Dunaway, Danny Cupit Honorary Pallbearer: Larry Hill Mary Kathryn Barecky passed from this world to Jesus Christ's side in heaven October 5, 2023, at the age of 64. Kathryn was born January 24, 1959 in Houston. She was the daughter of Bobby Joe Dunaway and Mary Lou Dunaway. Kathryn's hobbies and pursuits were traveling, sight-seeing, spending time with family, playing games (wordsearch), going to garage sales, artwork and making wreaths. She truly enjoyed traveling most of all because she had almost visited all fifty states and couldn't wait to travel to Hawaii. She loved the Lord and attended church services at Assembly of God while her health allowed. Mary Kathryn is survived by her loving daughter, Holly Barecky of Huntsville, TX; sister, Lisa Cathy and husband, Danny of Groveton, TX; sister, Jeannie Odum and Dee of Orangburg, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, also survive. Mrs. Barecky is preceded in death by her loving parents, Bobby Joe and Mary Lou Dunaway; husband, James Barecky; sisters: Lana Vaughn, and Millicent Dunaway; brothers: Thomas Dunaway, and Richard Dunaway; niece, Keisha Hernandez; brother-in-law, Tommy Vaughn. Our dearest Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great, Great Grandmother Christine E. Kennedy, passed away on December 4, 2023. Christine Morris Kennedy was born on October 19, 1923, to Neva and Jim Morris. She married Buford Kennedy on August 24, 1940. She lived the last eleven years of her life at the Groveton Nursing Home with wonderful care. Her beloved husband of over 63 years, Buford; her brothers, Joe and James Morris and her parents Jim Morris and Neva Morris James and great grandson Tommy Blair, preceded Christine in death. Christine is survived by her daughter, Ann Netta Oliverio and her husband Bill Nasser, Carrollton, Texas; her sons Joe D. Kennedy and wife Bonnie, Groveton, Texas; Eddie D. Kennedy and wife Dorothy, Groveton, Texas; grandsons, Greg Powell and wife Deborah, Galveston, Texas; Kevin Kennedy and wife Natasha, Castel San Giovanni, Italy; Keith Kennedy and wife Eileen, Waller, Texas; and Nick and Jess Kennedy, Florissant, Colorado; granddaughters Cheryl Blair and husband Tom, Plano, Texas; Liz Kennedy Ledbetter and husband Jack, Groveton, Texas; step grandchildren, Kristi Oliverio Becker and husband John, Scottsdale, Az. and Melodie Shannon and husband Tony, Edmond, Oklahoma. Taryn (Blair) Cook and husband Charles, Houston, Texas; Lexie Blair, Dallas, Texas; Jake Kennedy and wife Tayler, Cushing, Texas; Seth Kennedy and wife Ashton, Tatum, Texas and Kyle Kennedy and Danielle Ellis, Trinity, Texas; Marshal Kennedy, U. S. Army and Kandi Kennedy, Cypress Texas; Ethan and Ella Ledbetter, Groveton, Texas and Katarina Kennedy, Castel San Giovanni, Italy. Step grandchildren Kai Becker, Scottsdale, Az. Austin Read, Austin, Texas; Caroline Read, Houston, Texas; Danielle Carr and husband Wayne, California. She is survived by the following great-great grandchildren, Korbin Kennedy, Dally Moore, Lexi and Leah Kennedy, Tiago and Mateo Powell, Griffin, and Clover McCarthy, Palmer Cook and Isla Carr. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Christine lived all her life in Crecy, Magee Bend and Groveton, Texas. She attended Groveton High School. She was active in Oaklawn Baptist Church for many years. Making a home, cooking, and taking care of her family was her number one priority. Her house was always set up for the comfort of her children and grandchildren. She was always happy when some of her family was at her house. She will be missed by all of her family so very much. Funeral Services will be held at Groveton Funeral Home on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 1:30 p. m. by Rev. Lester McAdams with visitation starting at 12:30 p. m. The burial will be at Bennett Cemetery immediately following the service. Mark Anthony Kesinger was born in Marshall, Texas on May 1, 1950 to Doris Vivian Howell and Lonnie Patrick Kesinger. He went to be with them and his Heavenly Father on December 3, 2023. Mark was a boilermaker by trade. He looked forward to being Santa's helper each Christmas. He also loved hunting and fishing. Lenora "Lynn" Collins Due (known to many as "Mama Lynn") passed away peacefully in Groveton, Texas on November 24, 2023. She was born in Lufkin, Texas to Z. G. and Henrietta (Harvell) Collins on March 11, 1934. Lynn is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 68 years, W. B. Due; son Wilmer Earl Due; sister-in-law Emily Warren and husband Forrest; grandson Weston Due; and great-grandsons Jason and Mason Fisher. She is survived by her sons Danny Due, Dean Due and wife Sharon; grandchildren Jason Due and wife Jenny, Bradley Due and wife Michelle, Kacie Taylor and husband Jarrod, Chesni Due, Lori Fisher and husband Kendall, Allen Due and wife Olivia, granddaughter-in-law Shealby Due; great-grandchildren Rylie Due, Jasper Due, Jace Taylor, Kinsley Taylor, Carson Due, , Bryce Due, Sherrie Due, Gracelynn Due, Cori Warner and husband Jason, and Angelina Fisher; three great-great grandchildren Cael Edwards, Cayden Fisher, and Kamryn Shank; sister Eloise Placker and husband Charles; and our special angel and family friend, Janie Lee. Numerous extended family and friends also survive. Lynn was born and raised in the North Cedar community of Apple Springs. Soon after graduation, she met the love of her life, W. B. , and they married on April 18, 1953. She spent most of her adult life perfecting the role of a wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to cook, clean, take care of her family, and fulfill the duties and responsibilities placed upon her. She stood strong in her faith and was a member of the Groveton Church of Christ. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, and playing Canasta with a special group of her friends. Her home was the foundation of our family-- always open to all and filled with love, memories, and lots of food. She was shared with many and undoubtedly loved by all. To the staff, nurses, and all employees of the Groveton Nursing Home and Traditions Health Hospice Care - Thank you for your dedication to your work and your patients, most importantly our Mama Lynn. You have helped our family through one of the hardest things we have ever been through. You are truly the angels who walk amongst us. He was the son of Clark Hudson Nevins and Lorena (Parrish) Nevins. Donald enjoyed fishing. Loved to work. Especially anything to do with being on his tractor or lawnmower. He loved sitting out on his front porch and visiting with his friends and family. He was a graduate of Centerville High School in 1973. Winston Adwin Dial was born July 22, 1935, in Groveton, TX to Walter Adwin and Augna English Dial, and passed away peacefully on September 13, 2023, in Groveton, TX at the age of eighty-eight years. Visitation for Winston Adwin Dial will begin Friday, September 15, 2023, at 5:00 p. m. until 7:00 p. m. in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, TX. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a. m. , Saturday, September 16, 2023, with Keith Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers: Brint Dial, Vance Dial, Hayden Dial, Weston Dial, Brance Dial, Dale Dial, Sammy Dial, John Wars, Larry Fortenberry Winston was born in Possum Walk, TX at the family homeplace that was known as Mr. Dick Burk's place. Winston started Groveton ISD as a young kid and finished Groveton High School in 1954. Winston was drafted to the Army on October 1, 1958, and served till July 11, 1960. While being in the Army he served in the Korean War and received honors for being an "expert rifleman. " Winston was stationed out of Oakland, California. He was in the Army Reserve until September 30, 1964. He was an active dutyman up until the Vietnam Conflict where he was honorably discharged. After being discharged he came home to marry his wife, Ina Grace Fann Dial, which he was in love with from the day they married on September 17, 1960, and started their family. Winston stayed around Trinity County and lived the life he dreamed of. . . being a cowboy. You could always find him riding a good horse and using a good set of working dogs. Many of days people would show up in the yard with a horse for him to fix or ride for periods of time. Later on, Winston got a job with Groveton ISD working as the Tax Assessor/Collector and will always be known for being the GISD Bus Driver. Years later GISD and the Trinity County combined. After 21 years, Winston retired from Tax Assessor. Winston was a member of Groveton First Baptist Church, lifetime member of the Trinity County Sheriff Posse, and the Grand Masonic Lodge of Texas, receiving the twenty-five-year service pen. Winston was a man of few words, but what he said he meant. He had a love for a good horse, a working dog, and a fat cow. He was proud to call Groveton, TX, and Trinity County home. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Walter Adwin Dial and Augna English Dial; grandparents, Walter and Olivia Dial; sister, Martha Safford. Mr. Dial is survived by his wife of four days short of sixty-three years, Ina Grace Fann Dial; sons: Lindel and wife, Pam Dial, Brint Dial and friend, Theresa Gilbert, Vance and wife, Kelly Dial; grandsons: Hayden Dial, Weston Dial, Brance Dial, Trampas Hensley; great grandchildren: Kenzlee Dial, Reed Dial, Whitney Maxey, Trent Hensley, Stormie Hensley, Skylar Hensley; brother, Wayne Dial; sister, Becky Halpain; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Memorial Services for Vernon (Billy) Willis Carlton, Jr. , 89 of Groveton, Texas will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 10 a. m. in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home with Bro. Matt Sharrock officiating. Billy was born on May 9, 1934, in Houston, Texas to Vernon Willis Carlton and Aileen (Courtney) Carlton and he joined our Heavenly Father on August 11, 2023, where he passed away peacefully at his home in Groveton, Texas. Billy was a past graduate of Groveton high school in Groveton, Texas. He attended Allen Academy for two years prior to enlisting in the United States Army where he served during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany when he was discharged to return home in Groveton, Texas. He then went on to attend and graduate from Sam Houston State University where he received his bachelor's degree. Billy was a hard worker and enjoyed his dedicated work ethics. He served as past president of Houston County Cooperation as well as owning and operating his own feed store distributorship. Billy loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed helping others and was active with the Trinity County Fair association. He loved helping to teach the youth about working and helping to provide them with the tools to succeed in their adult lives. Billy was a past board member of the Trinity County Farm Bureau, and he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Groveton. Billy also was a huge fan of the Groveton Indians Sports program. Mr. Carlton is survived by his children: son, Steve Carlton and wife, Danita of Center, TX; son, Vernon Carlton, III and wife, Kelly of Center, TX; daughter, Revecca Carlton of Rusk, TX; son, Sam Carlton and wife, Tammy of Groveton, TX; son, Travis Smith; daughter, Lisa McCollum; sister, Sheila Greenwood and husband, Scott; sister, Melinda Jordan and husband, Dale. He leaves a legacy of 7 grandchildren: Shanna Carlton, Chad Carlton, "Will" Carlton, Ben Carlton and wife, Brittany, Corey Carlton and Kristin Merriwether, Allison Getro and husband, Taylor, David Carlton and wife, Alex, and Emily Smith; 12 great-grandchildren: Zack Carlton, Tristan Carlton, Bella Carlton, Lindsey Hibbard, Hailey Hibbard, Bently Carlton, Branson Carlton, Beau Carlton, Beckett Carlton, Collin Carlton, Sawyer Carlton, and Kelby Getro; and a host of other relatives and friends, also survive.
