Marvin Edward Tuxhorn was born July 12, 1961, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Scott Edward and Dolores Marie (Fitzpatrick) Tuxhorn. He passed away on August 1, 2023, in Hurst, Texas. Growing up in Helena OK, Jet OK, Stillwater OK, and Oklahoma City (Putnam City Schools) OK, Marvin moved to Irving TX at the age of 10. Marvin participated in Cub Scouts and sports as a youth. He regularly spent week-ends and summers on the family farm in Oklahoma. Marvin graduated from Irving MacArthur High School in 1979. Marvin attended Northlake Junior College classes concurrently with his final semester of high school and prior to beginning his studies at North Texas State University. He graduated in 1983 from North Texas University, returning to concentrate in accounting. Additionally, Marvin served as a Head Resident at Oklahoma State University and at Stephen F. Austin University. In his 34-year career, Marvin served as an Auditor / Senior Auditor with the Office of the Inspector General of the U. S. Department of Defense in Washington, D. C. Marvin received numerous performance awards from the DoD-OIG where he held a Top Secret security clearance in order to participate in and lead audit teams conducting audits of all branches of the military services throughout the world. To the dismay and confusion of his friends, Marvin would never discuss work due to the security requirements surrounding his assignments. In 2001, Marvin transferred to the Office of the Inspector General of the U. S. Department of Transportation in Fort Worth, TX. He participated and led internal audit teams throughout various functions of Transportation. Notably, he received awards for audits regarding NAFTA and Hurricane Katrina. He received an "OIG Employee of the Year" award in 2006. Throughout his life, Marvin remained an avid sports fan of football, basketball, and baseball. However, the source of Marvin's joyful enthusiastic spirit was high school and collegiate wrestling programs around the country. Marvin attended matches and tournaments around the United States for many years. Supporting these wrestling programs provided joy to Marvin. Marvin's generous and caring spirit impacted youth. He encouraged youth to concentrate on education. He provided financial support to school activities and projects across the United States. He was beloved as "Uncle Marv" to the children of his friends and co-workers. Marvin served as a mentor to numerous individuals and co-workers, focusing on their strength and bluntly encouraging self-improvement. Private with the joys in his life, attending Super Bowls and World Series, along with many travel experiences, likewise, Marvin did not share the depths of his numerous serious health challenges. Marvin continuously strived to better his own life's circumstances without burdening others. Marvin was a devoted son, participating as a caregiver to both his mother, during the years before her death in 1976, and father. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, four grandparents, two uncles, and one aunt. Survivors include sister, Harriet Tuxhorn of Oklahoma City; Delbert (Debbie) Tuxhorn of Colorado Springs CO; nephews Daniel of Arkansas and Michael of Mississippi; uncle William (Sherryl) Fitzpatrick of Wichita KS; and several cousins. College friends and wrestling colleagues nationwide join in mourning the loss and celebrating the impact of this special gentleman. Plans are underway to establish a wrestling scholarship in his name, as a permanent memorial.
