A Memorial Service for Mildred Meardon will be held at 11:00 a. m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at the Wesleyan Fellowship Church in Las Animas, Colorado with Pastor Mark Cloer officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Buena Vista, Colorado. Mildred Jean (Black) Meardon, affectionately known as Millie, was born on March 17, 1940 in Del Norte, Colorado to Ernest and Eleanor (Miller) Black. She passed away on November 25, 2023 at the Bent County Health Care Center in Las Animas, Colorado at the age of 83. Millie graduated from Del Norte Schools in 1958. She was united in marriage to Alfred Thomas Meardon on September 20, 1958 and to this union, three children were born. As a homemaker, Millie's life was centered around her family. Due to Tom's job with CDOT the family was required to relocate several times throughout Tom's career. They lived on Wolf Creek Pass for two years, before moving to Buena Vista. In 1970, the family moved to Springfield only to find themselves returning to Buena Vista in 1983, where they remained until Tom's retirement. In 2018, Millie and Tom decided it was time to move to Las Animas to be closer to family and enjoy every moment they could with their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Millie enjoyed hosting direct sales parties. She was active in the Colorado Federation for Republican Women, the United Church of Christ in Buena Vista and the Wesleyan Fellowship Church of Las Animas. She is survived by her husband, Tom Meardon of Las Animas, Colorado; children, Tom (Sheila) Meardon of Las Animas, Colorado and Dena (John) Christie of Lamar, Colorado; son-in-law, Steve Jett of Springfield, Colorado; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends. Millie was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Karen Jett. William Bonifacio Gallegos of La Junta, Colorado and formerly of Las Animas, Colorado, entered into rest October 13, 2023, at UC Memorial Central Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado. William was born March 23, 1951, In Las Animas, Colorado, to Wanda and John Gallegos. He was 72, years of age. William is survived by his sons David Gallegos (Cecelia Medina) William Gallegos, Granddaughter, Shantae Gallegos and his brother John (Priscella) Gallegos, James (Carol) Gallegos and Sister Velma (Ed) Siwicki, numerous anunt uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces. He is proceeded in death by his parents John B. Gallegos and Wanda Gallegos Barcelona and his Brother Cosme Gallegos. William loved to fish, hunt and spend time with his family and friends. He had a gift to see animals in the wild and had smile that would light up a room. His singing was heard by friends and family, which brought joy to everyone. He was a great artist and father. He served in the military in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 A. M. Sue Donna Sue Mann (nee Whiting) was born on March 29, 1950, in Las Animas, Colorado to the late, Dale Whiting & Mary Evelyn Deathridge. Donna was called to her heavenly home on the evening of November 20, 2023, surrounded by family in her home. Donna is predeceased by her husband Edwin Mann, brothers Richard Thomas, Dean Whiting, James Whiting, Dale Whiting, and her sister Anna Morinini. Donna is survived by her children, Connie Slate of Rogers, AR, Bonnie Seale of Rogers, AR, Jeremiah (Angelica) Warner of Plainfield, IL, and Sharlee (E. J. ) Mix of Bentonville, AR; She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren whom she adored: Ayla (Jordan) Phillips, Shayna McCormick, Nathaniel (Margie) Ward, Shaye Warner, Ariel (Jay) Williams, Christopher Carter, Kimberly (Connor) Huffman, Jule Warner, Isabella Warner, Marisol Warner, Lore Davila, Xander Warner, Olivia Mix, and Paislee Mix; Survived also by 17 great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her sister Ida Whiting of Rogers, AR, her brother Dwight Whiting of Mount Shasta, CA, and her sister-in-law Joan Thomas of Sorrento, FL. Donna had an unshakable faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, and His grace shone through her. Donna was a strong woman, working multiple jobs to ensure her families stability. She was also a very generous and loving mother, grandmother, and friend to all who came to her. Donna maintained a strong bond with all her children and grandchildren regardless of distance and has been a staple throughout their lives. Though retired for many years, Donna touched the lives of many children while working for the Rogers School District as a bus driver and custodian. She was always there to offer a helping hand when in need or just a friendly smile at the right time. She will be missed greatly. Please join us in honoring and celebrating her life. Garza was born in Las Animas, Colorado to Dionicio and Aurora Sanchez, she passed away on November 10, 2023 at the age of 84 in Chowchilla skilled Nursing Facility located in Chowchilla, California. In 1961, she married Serapio Smith Garza and they were blessed with 6 children. She will always be remembered as a very kind woman who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved to sew and enjoy quilting. She was an excellent cook and we will always cherish those moments we spent with our precious beautiful mother. She was dedicated to her Catholic Faith The Garza family would like to thank Chowchilla Skilled Nursing Facility for taking care of our mother for the last 5 years. We would like to extend our deepest appreciation for hospice care. She is preceded in death by her husband, her brothers Sixto Sanchez, Jesus Sanchez, Narciso Sanchez, and her sisters Enedina Garza and Margaret Vasquez. Funeral Services for Norman Childers will be held at 10:30 a. m. , Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Las Animas, Colorado. Interment will follow in the Bent/Las Animas Cemetery. Military Committal Rites provided by High Frontier Honor Guard and V. F. W. Post #2411. Norman Leon Childers was born on June 9, 1934, in Springfield, Missouri to Daniel and Inez (Reed) Childers. He passed away at Bent County Healthcare Center in Las Animas, Colorado on November 5, 2022, at the age of 88. Norman attended school in Denver and Las Animas prior to joining the Air Force in 1952. He was married in 1958 and had two children, Kathleen and Scott. After retiring from the Air Force, Norman returned to Las Animas. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (John) Rebel of Las Animas, Colorado; sister, Bertha Sorley of La Junta, Colorado; grandchildren, Bill Rebel, Jessica Rebel (Anthony), Gemma Childers, and Samantha (Cody) Hines; nine great grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.
