Martin Yingling Obituary

Mr. Martin E. "Marty" Yingling, 85, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away peacefully, at his home on Sunday, September 10, 2023, after an extended illness. Born June 25, 1938, in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late Eugene "Gene" E. and Ruth I. (Calimer) Yingling. He graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the class of 1958. He married Daphne J. (Pryor) Yingling in 1959. He served with the National Guard. He was owner and operator of Yingling Garage and Auto body, until he retired in 2004. He was a member of Ranger Hunting Club, Waynesboro Fish & Game, Blue Ridge Sportsman's Club, Owls Club, the Church of Transfiguration, and the Episcopal Church. Marty enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and archery. He was an avid sports fan and liked cheering on his favorite teams: The Baltimore Orioles, Penn State, The Baltimore Colts, and Indianapolis Colts. He was never one to sit idle, so he had many hobbies over the years. You could always find him piddling with something or playing his favorite country music on his bass. Marty was outgoing and friendly, a man who loved his family, and especially loved being "Pap" to his grandkids and "Blinky" to his great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two children: Michael E. Yingling and his wife, Karen of Fairfield, PA, and Kelly J. Gabrielson, and her husband, Ron of Waynesboro; four grandchildren: Zachary and his wife, Chelsey, Megan, Joshua and Jacob; three great-grandchildren: Mason, Caroline, and Emma Jean; two brothers: Bradley D. Yingling, and his wife, Penny of Waynesboro, and William L. Yingling, and his wife, Linda of Blue Ridge Summit, and his life-long friend, George "Tink" Pentz. Services will be private, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
