It is with grave sorrow that we announce the passing of a beloved soul, Mrs Terri Ann Parker Terri, a mother, wife, nurse, teacher, advocate, intellect, and faithful Christian, tirelessly dedicated her life to the betterment of other people in an eclectic array of ways Terri passed away on October 1, 2023 in Divernon, Illinois leaving a tremendous void in the hearts of all who knew her Terri Ann Parker was born on December 9, 1958 in Harrisonville, Missouri to Charlene and Kenneth Tirey Since an early age, Terri's genuineness, unconditional regard for others, and work ethic knew no bounds An intrinsic caregiver, Terri provided outstanding nursing care for over 30 years Her patients knew her not merely as a professional nurse, yet rather as a comprehensive, competent, and humanistic friend Terri organically exuded empathy to all she encountered She modeled resilience, merit, humility, compassion, and strength in all her relationships Terri also immensely impacted those she loved and called family Terri was married to Louis Parker for over 37 years and they had been a beautiful couple for over 42 years Terri impacted people in all of her personal and professional roles She began completion of an Associate of Arts degree and concurrently had mastered successful achievement of many women's studies and art related courses Terri also taught various craft courses at Lincoln Land Community College Terri also modeled her craft creations and artwork by earning awards at institutional arenas such as, at the Illinois State Fair, Quincy University Library, and at Lincoln Land Community College Terri's colossal influence on other people is remembered not only through her professional and academic engagements, but through being the family matriarch Terri was proceeded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Charlene Tirey, son-in-law Scott Belt, and great granddaughter, Alivia Rabich Terri is survived by her husband, Louis Parker; her children, Brea Collins-Belt, Brook Collins, Jack (Melissa) Collins, and Lucy (Bayland) Parker- Barnes; her grandchildren, Terri (Cody) Rabich, Aaron Trueblood, Justin Trueblood, Brittany Trueblood, Emilee Powell, Elizabeth Belt, Josclyn Collins, Khloe Collins, Bella Barnes, Joseph, Everly, Lily and JT; and her brothers, Kenneth Tirey and Michael Tirey Terri's memory will remain in the hearts of all who were privileged to know her Visitation will be from 12noon till time of memorial service at 1pm, Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Bramley Funeral Home, 150 Reichert Road, Divernon, Illinois with Rev Bobby Davis officiating Burial will be at a later date Though Terri was always a mortal angel, her physical passing confirmed the attainment of her heavenly wings Terri's legacy is like no other and her memory will live on forever Memorials may be made to St Louis Children's Hospital To to the family or in memory of Terri Ann Parker, pleaseShow more

Jeanne L Oliver has passed from this mortal realm on the 26th of September 2023 after surviving a series of life and death fights with various medical issues, any of which individually would have killed a normal octogenarian It should be noted that she was winning every single fight handily until they ganged up on herand even then, it was close Jeanne was born July 16, 1943 in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of Louis and Inez Jeanne attended the public schools in Rockford, Illinois, graduating from West Rockford in 1961 She married James G Oliver and to this union, one child Barry Scot was born Her family lived in several towns in Illinois, from Rockford to Divernon, Prairie du Rocher then Springfield and finally Riverton While in Prairie du Rocher, she was active in the historical re-enactment activities centered around Fort de Chartres Being from Rockford, it was sort of inevitable that she was a die hard Bears fan By 1981, the family was making their home in Riverton, IL and during this time, Jeanne was employed as a Reference Librarian at the Illinois State Library (ISL), Springfield In December, 1990, she received her BA in Management with highest honors from Sangamon State University (now University of Illinois @ Springfield (UIS) after seemingly endless night classes During her tenure at the ISL, she was tapped by the Library Director to administer the newly established US Patent Office Depository Library at the Illinois State Library Always ready and willing to accept a challenge, Jeanne travelled to Falls Church, Virginia for training and she became THE "go to person" for scores of library patrons who were seeking to patent their inventions She travelled across the state providing workshops through the IL Library Systemnetwork on the patenting process for fledgling inventors One of the most memorable patents that she helped to shepherd through the process was one for a model to be used for instruction in breast self-examination for early breast cancer detection Despite her Midwestern roots, in 1992 Jeanne moved to Falls Church, VA (Washington DC suburb) where she had accepted a position with the US Patent and Trademark Office She thrived in that position receiving multiple civilian awards such as The US Dept of Commerce Silver Medal, Hammer award, USPTO Bronze Medal all for excellence in the performance in her duties which include the creation of a unified call center for the entire agency In 2003 Jeanne was asked to be an administrator for the newly created Transportation Security Administration (TSA) While there she was awarded a DHS/TSA Silver medal, for creating the TSA unified call center from scratch, and to this day, if you call the TSA, you are routed through the phone system she created Jeanne remained with TSA until her retirement in 2008 Jeanne was also an avid traveler, completely filling one passport with trips all over the world and requiring a second Her travel club once voted her most likely to meet her demise by being run over by a cruise ship In 2015, She returned to Springfield and resided at Concordia Village Jeanne was such a gregarious and fun-loving person who never met a stranger and always aimed to make everyone feel at home and at ease Just 3 years after moving in she was elected the President of the Residents' Council in 2018 and remained in that capacity until 2020 She assisted in the review and design of the Village guest rooms while ignoring all posted scooter speed limits around the campus In addition, she enjoyed volunteering for many of the staff and residents' programs and events including the employee picnic, Easter egg hunts for residents and grandchildren, playing games and watching movies with residents and their families She was well known and beloved by many throughout Concordia Village Jeanne was preceded in passing by her former husband James in 2014 She leaves her son Barry, kids and grandkids, and the legion of friends as she moves on to bring some organization to the eternal afterlife Visitation will be Monday, October 2, 2023 from 9:30 am till time of Memorial Service at 11:00 am at Concordia Village, 4101 W Iles, Springfield A reception will follow Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Concordia Village Scholarship Fund To to the family or in memory of Jeanne L Oliver, pleaseShow more

Former Harvel resident, Richard Thomas "Dick" Uhrig, 78, of Divernon, passed away peacefully at 6:33 p. m. Friday, September 22, 2023, at his home with family. Services will be held at 10 a. m. on Thursday September 28th, at St. Raymond Catholic Church, Raymond, with burial at St. Raymond Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p. m. on Wednesday September at St. Raymond Catholic Church. Richard was born the son of John and Anna (Fireman) Uhrig,on November 10, 1944, at St. Francis Hospital, Litchfield He was a lifelong Grain and Livestock farmer in the Harvel area. He was a member of the K of C Council 4696 and St. Raymond Church. Dick currently served as a commissioner of the Harvel #1/Lone Oak Drainage District, and served as former trustee for 13 years on the Raymond Community Fire District Board and as a former commissioner on the Harvel #2 Drainage District for a number of years. He enjoyed camping and traveling, spending time with his family and his dog Murphy, as well as golfing and target shooting. He married Carol Ann Bergschneider on Aug. 8, 1964, at St. Raymond Church, and she preceded him on March 30, 2008. Richard is survived by two daughters, Karen (husband Chuck) Pickerill of Fernandina Beach, FL, and Sharon (husband Gary) Busch of Divernon; one son, Dennis Uhrig of Springfield; grandchildren, Steven (Rebecca) Kunkler, Megan (Deshae) Sorrells and Stefanie (Jeremiah Shorter) Pickerill, Craig (Sarah) Busch, Cory Busch 4 great grandchildren Charlotte and Garrett Sorrells and Elsie and Allie Busch and a sister Marilyn Sue Sale of Raymond and longtime companion Carol Lancaster of Auburn. Besides his wife Carol, he is preceded in death by; a sister Margaret Ann "Peggy" Jordan, brothers, Robert Eugene Uhrig and John William Uhrig and Grandson Cole Busch. Roy Carl Grider, Jr. passed away peacefully Thursday, September 21, 2023 at the Bridge Care Suites. He was born on December 14, 1930 in Waverly, the son of Roy Carl and Emma Brown Grider, Sr. Roy married Geraldine Harris on April 26, 1952 and she preceded him in death on August 28, 2020. Also, preceded in death by his parents, sister Betty Jane and son-in-law, Larry Royer. Roy moved to Auburn in 1941 and attended Auburn schools. He joined the Navy in 1948. He served four years on two destroyers, the U. S. S. Glennon and the U. S. S. Mackenzie, taking part in the Korean War in the largest evacuation in sea history at the Chosen Reservoir. He was a lifetime member of the Auburn VFW and former commander of the Legion Post 277. Roy retired from Doyle Sheet Metal, which he opened and owned with his son, Michael in 1982. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers, 218, from 1952 to the time of his death. He was a member of the Auburn Christian Church. Surviving are one son, Michael (Linda) Grider; two daughters, Kathy (John) Goleman and Carla Royer; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen (Dale) Harris; one brother, Darrel Grider; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 9:30am till time of services at 11am, Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Bramley Funeral Home, Auburn with Pastor Josh Mangano officiating. Glenn Anthony Brown, 91, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of July 11th, 2023, at his home in Farmersville, IL. Glenn was a lifelong resident of Farmersville. He was born on May 24th, 1932, to Ralph and Mary Lena (Millburg) Brown. He was the fourth of five children. Glenn was a 1950 graduate of Farmersville High School. Following graduation, Glenn enlisted in the US Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War. Glenn married Ella Marie (Beechner) Brown on January 26th, 1957. They celebrated 66 years of marriage in January of 2023. Glenn and Ella Marie have four children: Linda S. (Lynn) Boston of Girard, IL. , Larry J. Brown of Springville, TN. , Stephen P. (Renee) Brown of Morrisonville, IL. and Brian L. Brown (Crysta Weitekamp) of Pawnee, IL. Grandchildren: Janelle (Robert) Fanning of Girard, IL. , Kelly Boston (Matt Bostick) of Farmersville, IL. , Allison Boston of Girard, IL. , Matthew (Jessica) Boston of Girard, IL. , Jarrad (Jackie) Brown of Springfield, IL. , Ethan (Katie) Brown of Morrisonville, IL. , Alyssa (Matthew) Rever of Raeford, NC. , and Leyton (Alyssa) Brown of Urbana, IL. Great Grandchildren: Olivia and Charlotte Fanning, Kallen Bostick, Easton, Landon and Peyton Boston, Andrew and Tyler Brown, and Trenton and Adalyn Rever. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Harold J. Brown & Edward J. Brown, sisters, Rose Mary Martin & Shirley Hobson, daughter-in-law, Joliene Brown, and grandson, Andrew Paul Brown. After Glenn returned from the war, he served as an Illinois State Trooper. He then served as the postmaster in Farmersville. He went on to become a coal miner. It was important to him to instill a strong work ethic and commitment to service in his children. The family mowed lawns (at times more than 50 lawns) and delivered the State Journal Register in Farmersville for many years. Glenn retired from Crown II Coal Mine in 1994, but he never stopped working. He resumed mowing lawns and delivering the State Journal Register long after his retirement. Glenn always found ways to help others whether it be scooping snow, mowing, or delivering Meals on Wheels with his wife, Ella Marie. He loved his family, his community, and his country. He enjoyed spending time with his friends sharing stories and life lessons. He had a profound impact on both his family and his friends. He will be greatly missed. John D. Duval, 73 of Divernon passed away peacefully Sunday, July 2, 2023 at his home with his wife and two daughters by his side. He was born November 15, 1949 in Springfield, the son of Alfred and Elsie (Shepherd) Duval Jr. John married Carol E. Rhodes on July 5, 1969 in Jacksonville, NC. John enlisted and served in the USMC during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for the Divernon Fire Department for several years. He worked for John H. Rhodes Painting & Contractor and later took over the business as Duval Painting. John was well known for being a perfectionist in his work and painted for many years all over the area. When he was not working, he enjoyed watching his loving grandkids play sports and visiting and helping his many friends. Surviving are his wife Carol; two daughters, Laurie (Brett Conner) Call and Dawn (Todd) Smith; seven grandchildren, Matthew Call Jr, Elizabeth Call, Peyton Conner, Joshua (Nicole) Smith, Austin "AJ" Smith, Hannah Smith and Hayden Smith; two brothers, Alfred "Bump" (Peggy) Duval III and Jerry (Shawn) Duval; one sister, Mary "Kaye" (Tom) McGinnis; two cousins, Jim (Dorothy) Shepherd and Marianne (John) Still; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at Brush Creek Cemetery, Divernon on July 10, 2023 at 11am with Pastor David Van Bebber officiating. Full military honors will be accorded.
