Peggy Saunders passed away on Saturday December 2, 2023 of a heart attack. She was 93 years old. She passed peacefully while asleep. Peggy was born in Los Angeles and grew up in San Francisco, attended Catholic high school in San Francisco and then received in AB in Biology at Leland Stanford Jr. University. She worked as a bio-technician first at Stanford and later at the University of British Columbia School of Medicine. At Stanford she met Alex Saunders and they were married three years after graduation, while Alex was in Medical School at UBC. After raising three children Peggy returned to school at Santa Clara University and received a Masters Degree in Religious Education and worked for years as an adult religion educator at parishes in the Archdiocese of San Francisco. Peggy also volunteered in tin the American Red Cross Disaster service for 28 years for where she was privileged to serve at the greatest disasters in the US in the last 30 years, including 911, New Orleans, Colorado floods, and Hawaii. Peggy with Alex lived in Chicago, IL, Bedford NY, King of Prussia, PA, and back to the Bay Area while following Alex's career. They had settled in San Carlos for more than the last 40 years and spent the last 4 years in Brookdale Senior Living in Redwood City. In San Carlos Peggy was a strong member of St. Charles Parish, serving as Eucharistic Minister and Lector and for some years as a member of the Parish Council. Peggy is survived by her husband of 68 years, Alex M. Saunders, MD, three children, Paul A. PhD, Brian S. Saunders, and Joanne C. Burns, and by five grandchildren, Andrew Burns, Steven Burns, Victor Saunders MD, Irene A Saunders and Judith Saunders. Peggy also has extended family in Tennessee and Georgia, and in France, where her father, Paul Bouvart originated. Joann Ramorino was born in Ogden, Utah on March 26, 1932 to Italian immigrants,Thresa M. (Borgogno) and Oreste S. Ropelato. She and her sister Emma spent theirchildhood growing up in small, rural towns as their father worked on the Southern PacificRailroad lines through northern Nevada and Utah, eventually settling back in Ogden,Utah where many of her family still live today. At the age of 18, Joann knew she wanted more out of the world, and she moved byherself to San Francisco to stay with her beloved Aunt Ruby, her mother's sister. Sheworked in retail in San Francisco as a buyer for the iconic Macy's department store inUnion Square. She carried her love of fashion through her whole life, always dressingclassy and in-style, even into her 90s. Shortly after arriving in San Francisco, she met the love of her life, Charles BernardRamorino when she pulled into his gas station he owned. They eventually wed onOctober 8, 1955 and bought their first home together in Millbrae, CA. The next year,they welcomed their first son, Robert B. Ramorino, followed by their second son RichardC. Ramorino in 1958. In the mid-60s, Charlie and Joann bought a piece of property down the Peninsula andbuilt a ranch house, which would be their home for the next several decades together. Over time, they added a pool, koi ponds, and beautiful gardens that they would enjoyworking in together and hosting family summer pool parties and barbeques at. Over all the years, Joann and Charlie loved to travel with their friends to Italy, Carmel,and Coronado. They spent many nights dancing away together at the Italian Boys Cluband any social event they were at. She was a most wonderful Moni to her daughters-in-law, granddaughters and great-grandchildren, whom she enjoyed many shopping tripswith and eating ice cream treats with. Most of all, she and Charlie loved spending timewith their family, which grew over the years to include two daughters-in-law, fivegranddaughters, and five great-grandchildren. Joann will be dearly missed by all and is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law,Robert and Carolyn Ramorino and Richard and Jacqui Ramorino; her fivegranddaughters Christina (Dominic) DeLuca, Karen Ramorino, Jackie (Aaron)Bogdanoff, Teresa Ramorino, and Carina Ramorino; her five great-grandchildren Gianna,Sofia, and Makayla DeLuca and Rickey and Caroline Bogdanoff, and many nieces andnephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Ramorino, her parents,Thresa M. (Borgogno) and Oreste S. Ropelato, her sister, Emma Walling, and hernephew, Dean Walling. For friends and family that would like to attend, all services will be held Thursday,December 7, 2023. The Viewing will be at from 10am - 10:30am at the Church of theNativity at 210 Oak Grove Avenue in Menlo Park. The Rosary will then be held from10:30am. Immediately following, will be a Funeral Mass at 11am at the Church of theNativity. Burial to follow at 1:00pm at the Italian Cemetery at 540 F Street in Colma.
