Elsie Leininger

Age - 90

December 4, 2023

Elsie L. Kress Leininger, 90, of Oakdale, Collier Township, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023, surrounded by her family, in her daughter's home in Wampum, PA. Elsie was born on December 9, 1932 in Sturgeon, a daughter of the late Mike and Emily George Kress. Mrs. Leininger was a social butterfly. She loved keeping herself active, whether it was attending the local polka dances, playing cards with her family or walking on the trail. Elsie loved her Polka music and even followed a couple of Polka bands around the area. She was swift on her feet and always put on a good show with her dancing. She was fierce in dancing and even more so when she had a deck of cards in her hand. Elsie did not enjoy losing and was always so proud to win a game, even if the opponent was her family. Her days on the trail were some of her favorites. She loved meeting up with her daughter and walking down the trail and greeting everyone she knew. Elsie was a gifted homemaker all her life. Tending to her four children and her family was what she enjoyed the most. She was skilled in the kitchen and famously known for her baked goods, especially her gullets. When her great-grandchildren were old enough to give Elsie her Grandma name, they infamously named her "Grandma Cookie". Elsie gave her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren the best memories. They will forever remember the smell of her kitchen during this holiday season, as she was very busy making cookies for all that she knew. Of course, her home was always decorated to reflect the season we were in as well. Elsie's Christmas tree recently had been left up year around, but decorated to match every holiday. Not only was the tree decorated perfectly but every inch of her home, inside and out. One decoration that she was very fond of was a cardinal. You could always find many around her home. As the saying goes, "An angel is near when a cardinal appears". Elsie's family will certainly be seeing a lot of cardinals in their future, because they truly have the best angel now. As you can tell, Elsie had a heart of gold. She loved everyone that she ever came across and welcomed them gladly into her home. Her kindness, laughter, and love will be forever remembered and cherished. Surviving are her children, John (Eileen) Leininger Jr. , Donna (the late Tom) Strehl, Cathy (the late Gary) Koishal, and Ron (Jacqueline) Leininger, grandchildren, Alicia (David) Scappe, Christa Leininger, John (Lindsay) Leininger III, Matthew (Lindsay) Strehl, Bryan Strehl, Emily and Katie Leininger, great grandchildren, Noah and Launa Leininger, Nico Scappe and Levi and Maverick Strehl and a sister, Helen Smith. Along with her parents, Elsie is preceded in death by her loving husband, John Leininger (12/8/81), siblings, Lawrence Kress, Dorothy Meyers, and Robert Kress. Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 p. m. at Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc. and Crematory, 5000 Noblestown Road, Oakdale (724-693-2800). A Blessing Service will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 10 a. m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Carnegie.Show more

Scott Brown

Age - 51

April 13, 2023

Scott A. Brown "Downtown Scotty Brown", 51 of Robinson Township, suddenly passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023, in Sewickley Hospital. Scotty was born on August 28, 1971, in Oakdale, son of Charles J. (Joyce) Brown and the late Frances P. Spychalski Brown. In his earlier years, Scotty was a former Oakdale Volunteer Fireman. He worked for Charlie Brown's Airport Parking, where he was the manager for many years. He was extremely proud of his family business and he was dedicated to not only his customers, but employees as well. Scotty knew each and everyone of his customers by name, their families, and what cars they owned. He loved catching up with all his customers and hearing about their travels, and life since he last seen them. When Scotty was not wrapped up in work, his weekends were never relaxing. If he didn't have the hose & tire shine out making sure his truck was shiny and sparkly - he was spending all his free time with Sandy & his dog Henry. When it came to Henry, he enjoyed taking him for truck rides and giving this little guy all the attention. Scotty and Sandy spent the last 25 years together and every day was filled with a new adventure. They created a life both of them always dreamed of. Not every day was perfect, but it was perfect for them. Family was always important to both of them, but their Grandchildren meant the world. Scotty was the most devoted STP (Grandfather). He had the honor of walking his oldest #1 granddaughter down the aisle and giving her away in marriage to her best friend, Chris. Scotty & Sandy loved traveling - Aruba was their second home. In addition to family & traveling, Scotty had a passion for golfing. Many years ago, he would spend his weekdays golfing with his Oakdale buddies. Scotty had a spunky personality that was full of life. Fitting his personality, he loved shooting off fireworks for his family and friends. He was the most genuine and caring person that you would ever meet. He treated everyone as if they were family and welcomed every stranger through the door. There is so much that will be missed about Scotty, but the world is truly a better place for having Scotty in it. Surviving is his wife/significant other Sandra Esposito, siblings, Craig Brown, Eric (Amy) Brown and Kim (Jon) Fadzen, Kathleen (Paul) Pennington. Grandchildren, Brianne (Chris) Hopper, Joey (Becca) Prince, Christian Esposito, Jacob Prince and Victoria and Luke Pennington. Great grandchildren, Ava, Christopher, Emma Hopper and Liam Prince. Niece, Abby and Nephew, Alex Brown, along with several other niece and nephews, aunts and uncles. He was very close to friends he considered family, that also called him Pappy Scotty.
