Martha Martina Rayburn passed away on September 8, 2023, in Baton Rouge at the age of 97. She was born on July 20, 1926, in New Orleans. She is survived by her 2 sons, David Rayburn (Mary) and Mark Rayburn (Laurie); 3 daughters, Sandra Lee Scott, Donna Loflin (David), and Teresa Rayburn (David); 1 brother, Rosario Martina; 30 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Tommy (Christy), Ashley, Dustin (Carli), Tayler (Grant), Daniel, Angelina, Chris, Joshua (Shay), Greg, Mike (Belinda), Traci (Kyle), Lanie, Michael, Brooke, Reece, Jackson, Kaylee, Ayden, Jackson, Trey, Lillian, Luke, Natalee, Sicilee, Raiden, Zach, Knoxlyn, Taylor, Sabrina, and Hunten. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Richard "Dickie" Rayburn; son, Donald Rayburn, Jr. ; parents, Joseph, and Angelina Martina; brother, Joseph Martina; and sister, Virginia Galbo. Visitation will be at Ascension Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, from 12:00pm until the funeral service at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.

Patsy Lynn "McCoy" Simien, 64, of DeQuincy, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was born to her late parents, Albert Sr. and Ida McCoy on December 26, 1958 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She worked in healthcare a majority of her work career, fulfilling her passion of assisting the elderly. Her high fashion sense and lavish nails were always flawless, but her sassy personality is what stood out to anyone that came in contact with her. Cooking was her flair and she admired traveling. She showed great commitment with everything that she was called to do, but Praying was her most valuable gift, and she shared her ability to do so with anyone that needed it. Patsy took great pride in motherhood, as well as being the best mother and grandmother to her only child and grandchild. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Tamika "Simien" Learson (Jerome) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; siblings, John McCoy of DeQuincy, Louisiana, Don McCoy of Beaumont, Texas, Albert McCoy, Jr. of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Lora Ann McClean of California; along with her precious granddaughter, Mikah Lyn Learson; three sister-in-laws, Gwendolyn Chapper (Norman) of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Patricia Senegal (Nolton) of Rayne, Louisiana and Patricia Frank (late Gary Frank) of Houston, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Patsy is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Simien; parents; sister, Veronica McCoy; mother-in-law, Evelyn Duplantis-Frank; and in-laws, Ronald Frank and Gary Frank. A Celebration of Patsy's life will be held at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church in DeQuincy, Louisiana on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 11:00 am, with Pastor Marvin Durgan officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday, beginning at 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery in DeQuincy, Louisiana. Emery J. Bares, a native of Erath, LA and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at the age of 91. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading, and spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who affectionally called him "Papa". He honorably served in the U. S. Army National Guard of Louisiana in 1951, followed by service in the U. S. Air Force from 1952 through 1955. He is survived by his children Stephanie Krouse (Alan), Lisa Musso (Jerril), Barry Bares (Beth), Damon Bares and Carolyn Bourque (Wade); 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Llewellyn "Lou" LeBlanc Bares; his parents, John and Onida Bares; and siblings Agnes Richard, Eno Bares, Emmett Bares and Allen Bares. Visitation will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, from 8:30 a. m. until 10:00 a. m. , followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a. m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be Lucas Johnson, Austin Gautreau, Ben Bares, Adam Bourque, Brayden Musso, Alan Krouse, Jerril Musso and Wade Bourque.
