Paul Alan Griswold, aged 61, of North Muskegon, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Jessie (Melvin) Griswold; brother, John Griswold and sister, Bettie Durham. Paul was a truck driver for PAR Trucking in Grand Rapids, MI. He enjoyed driving truck and traveling all over the United States and had seen every state other than Alaska and Hawaii. Paul could never pass up a good breakfast and was a Nascar fan. He was a loving husband and grandfather, enjoyed a good joke and could be very comical. Paul is survived by his wife, Debra "Debbie" Califf-Griswold; son, Pastor Joshua (Melissa) Chittenden and daughter, Miranda Griswold; step-children, Diane Califf and Bryan Eastling; six grandchildren, Payton, Madelyn, Josalyn, Zane, Maliyah and Jordyn; five step-grandchildren, Cody, Conner, Colin, Destiny and Anna; three sisters, Mary (Charles) Hendershott, Linda Pierson and Donna Griswold; brother-in-law, Jeff Durham; sister-in-law, Cindy (John) Appel; brother-in-law, Brian Ahearn; special aunt, Lois (Mike) Szczerbinski; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Allen Lee Beugnot, age 95, of Muskegon Heights, Michigan passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023. He was born on May 17, 1928 to Frank and Nellie Beugnot in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Allen spent his childhood on his grandparents farm in Mesick, Michigan. He attended Mesick public schools and Central High School in Grand Rapids. He held many jobs throughout his life, but most recently he worked security at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean war. He married his first wife, Marjorie, and took on her son, Clifford, as well. Later the couple welcomed children, David, Julie, and Lori. After the couple separated, Allen met his second wife, Jean and the couple spend several years together until her passing in 2012. He enjoyed going to estate sales, selling at the flea market, and shopping for used cars. He was never one to shy away from heckling for a great deal. Allen liked to travel and spent a few years in Florida. He liked to go to the racetrack and do crossword puzzles. Allen will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Allen was preceded in death by: wives, Marjorie Hoag, and Jean Beugnot; parents, Frank and Nellie Beugnot; son, Clifford Gibson; and brother, Frances Beugnot Jr. Allen is survived by: children, David (Barbara) Beugnot, Julie Beugnot, and Lori Beugnot; grandchildren, Gary Britton, Mackenzie Beugnot, David (Pamela) Beugnot Jr. , Jamie (Joe) Homrich, and Amber (Jamie) Wagenaar; great grandchildren, Robbert Beugnot, Stacy Beugnot, David Allen Beugnot, Austan Frye, Aundre Frye, Cassidy Homrich, Jessica Wagenaar, and Bethany Wagenaar. "Kathleen I. Kufahl, age 74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 11, 1949, to Lawrence and Catherine (Smith) Bolduc Sr. , in Muskegon, MI where she was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central class of 1967. Kathy dedicated numerous years to various businesses, such as GTE, Meijer ending her career at Trinity Health Hospital. She married Donald Kufahl and together they cherished many memories. He preceded her in death on February 24, 2020. Kathy will be remembered for her unconditional generosity and willingness to always put others before herself. Her family was her world, she loved dedicating her time to making endless memories with the ones she loved. Kathy's kind and tender-loving spirit will be missed by many. "Mrs. Virginia Ellen "Gini" Bartz, age 84, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023 in Muskegon, Michigan. She was born in Muskegon on January 29, 1939 to Ervin and Marian (Stevenson) Wagner. On September 19, 1969, Gini married Edward Bartz and they enjoyed 42 years together prior to his passing in 2011. She was employed in administration by GTE prior to her retirement in 1989 at the age of 50. Following retirement, GTE called on her to work as their consultant in Florida for a few additional years. Gini enjoyed reading and spending time at their cottage on Clear Lake, which later became their permanent residence. She was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching University of Michigan football, the Detroit Lions, and the Detroit Tigers. She is survived by her daughters, Janet (David) Harris and Tawny (Charles) Husted; stepsons, Alan (Marjorie) Bartz and Ronald (Janet) Bartz; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brother, Ervin (Denise) Wagner and brother-in-law, William Norkus. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Bartz; daughter, Renee Snowfleet; sister, Carol Norkus; and former husband, James Snowfleet. "Judith L. (Picard) Hiemstra, age 84, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023 while surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 15, 1939 to Howard and Opal (Lount) Jessup in Muskegon, MI, where she remained a lifelong resident. Judy graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central High School in 1957, marrying Bob Ross shortly after. Together they had 4 children before ultimately divorcing in 1967. Judy became a dedicated employee of General Telephone, where she thrived in radio sales for 20 years. She married Richard "Dick" Picard on January 12, 1968, with whom she shared nearly 30 years of love and laughter, with Richard preceding her in death on December 23, 1997. Judy then married Robert "Bob" Hiemstra on December 12, 1998. Together they cherished 24 years of loving companionship in their golden years. Judy's strong faith was inspired by her grandmother and applied throughout her life as a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, where she was an active contributor to the Guild, and later as a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Judy loved to give handmade gifts to friends and family; she had a knack for arts and crafts, including ceramics and knitting, but her passion was for crocheting. She loved all things outdoors, particularly the annual camping trips she took with Bob. They spent many summers at Poncho's Pond Campground in Ludington, where Judy loved to swim. Judy will always be remembered as a well-read, sharp-witted, strong-willed, and unconditionally compassionate woman who faced every challenge head on. Her kind and loving heart was balanced with the perfect amount of stubbornness. Judy was the beloved matriarch of an enormous family, and she will be deeply missed by the many who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving husband, Bob Hiemstra; 4 children, Dave (Shellie) Ross, Sue (Tom) Hernandez, Maribeth (Joy) Picard, and Kathy (Scott) Six; 5 step-children: Chris (Dave) Harkin, Roxanne (Jay) Laughtenschlager, Marty (Lila) Hiemstra, Tammy (Richard) Shorter and Cheryl Hiemstra; 11 grandchildren: Jason (Karen) Ross, Chad (Kara) Ross, David (Angie) Ross, Joshua (Vanessa) Hernandez, Elicia (Jake) Bourne, Melissa (Sam) Burden, Trevor Picard (Alexis Springer), Dylan Picard, Kaylee Picard (Jeremiah Dunne), Derick (Nikki) Six, and Sammie (Derek) Serritos; 7 step-grandchildren: Jeremy Sturm, Stephanie (Brian) Brown, Daniel (Lauren) Strobel, Kimberly (Devin) Cavanaugh, Amber Shorter, Ashley Shorter, and Richard Shorter Jr. ; 24 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, her youngest sister, Christine (John) Stacey, her brothers-in-law, Dan Krupp and Rod Pusman, many nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. "Mr. Bernard LaVern Bolema, age 89, passed away Saturday morning, December 2, 2023 in Muskegon, Michigan. He was born in Muskegon on June 16, 1934 to Nick and Marjorie (VandenBosch) Bolema. Bern started working for the family business, Bolema Lumber and Construction, at the age of 16. He retired in 2022, 73 years later, as the CEO. Bern enjoyed his beloved Irish Setter "Champ", swimming, horseback riding, walking, biking, and traveling. He also loved to read and follow politics. He was an active member of Ferry Memorial Reformed Church. His faith was very important, and he enjoyed studying his Bible. Bern took great joy in attending his grandchildren's events. On August 7, 1975, Bern married the former Karen Elizabeth Hedberg in Muskegon, and she preceded him in death in 2022. He is survived by three daughters, Holly (Rick) Hughes, Dianne (Tom) Smrcina, and Charlotte (Darren) Breit; nine grandchildren, Morgan Hughes, Taylor (Jonah Ogles) Hughes, John (Kristen) Gibbs, Brenden Gibbs, Michael (Alicia) Smrcina, Carley Smrcina, Collin Breit, Alec (Graciela) Breit, and Chandler Breit; six great-grandchildren, Ava Gibbs, Brielle Gibbs, Auden Ogles, Willow Smrcina, Farren Ogles, and Truman Breit; his sister, Charlotte "Tootsie" (Stan) Yonker; and many nieces and nephews. Alford K. Jones, Jr. On September 23, 2023, Alford K. Jones took his eternal rest and answered the call of his Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior. Alford was born on September 3, 1954, in Mt. Meigs, Alabama, to the union of Patricia Ann Miller (Pickens) and Alford K. Jones, Sr. Alford confessed his faith in Jesus at an early age while a member of the Westside COGIC. Within the past ten years of his life, he rededicated his life to the Lord Jesus Christ and became a lifetime member at the Mt. Zion Church of God In Christ in Muskegon, Michigan. On (XXX) Alford was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Phyllis Williams (deceased) and from that union, Alford was blessed with a son, Orlando Jones (deceased). After the death of his first wife, Alford is also the father twins; Denise Earleen Young (son - Khilyn D. Johnson) and Dennis Earl Childersyoung (daughter - Avianna D. Childersyoung). Alford loved his children with all his heart and soul. Alford was a "Peoples Person," one who never met a stranger and poured his life into uplifting the plight urban Americans who were considered the Least, Last, and the Lost. He often volunteered to coach city league boy's football, basketball, and baseball. At the tender age of twelve, Alford gathered children his age and younger within the Muskegon Heights public housing units to introduce them to the game of golf. List his education: Alford attended the Muskegon Heights Public Schools from Kindergarten throughout middle school as a resident of Muskegon Heights, MI. Pre-high school, Alford participated in the Muskegon Heights Band Department where he engaged in the musical artistry of playing the trombone. In addition, he started as a running back with the Muskegon Heights City League Football Team. Later, his family moved to the Muskegon Area Township where Alford completed his high school education at Muskegon High School. He also obtained a Bachelor of Arts at Baker College. Alford will be remembered for his bold tenacity in maximizing the potential in others, whether it be sports, academics and/or personal growth. He was deliberately vulnerable in sharing his mistakes, choices, and life's experiences to help his fellowman keep his eyes on the prize of success! His favorite R&B group was Earth Wind & Fire. His favorite Jazzman was Bob James. His favorite Gospel Artist was Rance Allen. Alford enlisted in the U. S. Military (Army) shortly after graduating from Muskegon High School where he received his high school diploma. During his first tour with the U. S. Army - Alford received an honorary discharge and returned home to Muskegon, Michigan. Post his Military tenure, Alford worked at the old Camel's Plant for a brief period. With declining employment of manpower within the factory/production industries; Alfold reenlisted in the Army and served an additional three years. Over the past thirty years, Alford's employment history included work as a licensed home healthcare provider for, certified fundamentals cook (Baker College Culinary School), grounds maintenance (Muskegon Parks and Recreation), and an assembler and production specialist (Gentex Corporation, Holland, MI. ). Leaves to cherish his memory: Alford leaves to cherish sweet memories: Precious grand-twins, Alexis Gregory (granddaughter), Phyllis Jones (granddaughter), a loving daughter Denise Earleen Young of Akron, Ohio and her twin brother, his son Dennis Earl Childersyoung of Muskegon, MI.
