Ernest Gomer Jump, Jr., “Pop,” 93, of Fort Valley, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024. Funeral services to honor his life will be held on Wednesday, February 28, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home with Pastor, Eddie Coatney officiating. Immediately following, Mr. Jump will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time. Mr. Jump was born on March 23, 1930, in Hazelhurst, Georgia, to the late Mr. Ernest Gomer Jump, Sr. and Mrs. Bessie Meeler Jump. He retired from Armstrong World Industries after 42 years of service, where he worked as a heavy equipment mechanic. Mr. Jump served on the Crawford County Board of Commissioners for eight years and was of the Baptist faith. He was a Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner where he was a member of the Al Sihah Temple in Macon. Mr. Jump was an accomplished fiddle player that earned him the great honor of being inducted to the Atlanta Music Hall of Fame. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jump was preceded in death by his children, Alicia Peters and Terry Jump; and brother, D.L. Jump. Left to cherish Mr. Jump’s memory is his wife of 60 years, Annie Joyce Wooten Jump; sons, Dale Jump (Rachel) and Dean Jump (Collen); grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sisters, Louise Claxton and Beulah Edwards. Keith Saathoff

On January 31st, 2021, we lost a dear friend and colleague, Keith Saathoff, who passed away suddenly at the age of 63. Keith was born on June 30th, 1960, in Northridge, California, to Adrienne and Vern Saathoff. He is survived by his sister, Kathleen Saathoff, who lives in Newhall CA, and his beloved kitty, Raven, who will be cared for by a friend. Keith was a person who touched many lives with his kindness, generosity, and wisdom. He was always ready to listen and offer thoughtful insights. He had a passion for aeronautical engineering. He studied at Cal Poly in SanLuis Opisbo. Keith worked for several prestigious companies in the industry, such as Piper Aircraft, Gulfstream Aerospace, Vought Aircraft, Boeing, Zodiac Aerospace, and the Triumph Group. He found his greatest satisfaction and joy at Axient, where he was part of a team that ensured the safety and performance of each aircraft. He loved his teammates and his work, and he was always eager to learn and improve his skills. Keith also had a wide range of interests and hobbies that reflected his curiosity and adventurous spirit. He loved anything to do with flying, and he enjoyed watching and studying the design and execution of various aircrafts. He also loved the outdoors and nature, and he hiked many trails in the Sierra Nevada mountains. He was an active member of the American Volkssport Association, a walking club that promotes walking for sport, health, and friendship. He earned over 100 patches for completing special program walks, and he made many friends along the way. He also had a deep appreciation for American history, and he participated in reenactment battles, visited historical sites, and read extensively about the wars and events that shaped the nation. He was especially fond of target shooting and competition shooting with his muzzle loaders, which he collected and maintained with care. He also had a love for fine engineering that manifested in his admiration for Mustangs, the classic American car. He was a member of several Mustang clubs in different states, and he loved the roar and power of the engines. He also developed a passion for NASCAR, and he could talk about the drivers, the races, and the strategies with enthusiasm and expertise. Keith was a remarkable person and an amazing friend, who lived a full and rich life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and excellence that will inspire us for years to come. We are grateful for the time we had with him, and we know he is at peace in a place where he can fly high and free with joy! Jerry Cheek (Cheek-O) sadly passed away at home on January 27, 2024, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife Kathy. Daughter Karisa Stillwell (Eric), stepdaughter Jennifer Folsom (Robby), and stepson Robert Warren (Adrianne). Grandchildren Blake Stillwell, Hannah Folsom, Jack Warren, and Whitley Warren. Jerry loved singing and entertaining and was always the life of the party. He was the jack of all trades and could fix just about anything. He was always so proud to have parts left over after fixing something the “Cheek-o” way. As per Jerry’s request no funeral services or memorial services will be held. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Tate Callen Taylor was born sleeping on 27 January 2024. He was a beautiful boy who looked just like his older brother Tripp. For the 36 ½ weeks he grew in his Mommy’s belly, he jumped, kicked and punched with all his strength. He was definitely energetic. His parents were able to hold him for hours to give him all their love, cuddles, and kisses. He is survived by his parents Allen and Caley Taylor, and his older brother Tripp Taylor. A visitation for close friends and family will be conducted on Tuesday, 30 January. A short service will follow visitation so that Mommy and Daddy can speak about the love they already knew for their sweet son that was taken too soon.

William Robert Kodra, affectionately known as "Bill," passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the age of 88. Born in Dorloo, New York, on October 22,1935, Bill was the beloved son of the late Anton Kodra and Mary Antonia (Konchar) Kodra. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2024, between 6:00pm to 8:00 pm at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Martha Chamberlin Kodra, and son, Gary Kodra. Their memories live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved them. Left to treasure Bill's legacy are his loving daughter Brenda Ryberg; grandchildren: Miranda Croxton, Erica Dean, Nick Ryberg (Kristin); Great Grandchildren: Raina Croxton, Aaron Croxton, Major Croxton, Dylan Sapp, Gracie Dean, John Paul Dean, Tyler Roti, and Vivian Ryberg. After high school Bill received his bachelor’s in culinary arts, in his later years he retired as a supervisor at Davis Oil Company. Bill had a passion for computers, sports, mathematics, cooking, meals on wheels, and most of all his family. In his down time, you would find him playing his favorite word game Whortle. Wendell "Butch" Ray Barlow

Wendell “Butch” Ray Barlow, 76, of Fort Valley, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, January 24, 2024, following his battle with dementia. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 29, at 2:00 PM, at FairHaven Funeral Home, with Pastor Ronnie Hollis officiating. Immediately following, Butch will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time at 1:00PM. Butch was born on November 28, 1947, in Macon, Georgia, to the late Mr. Charles Brannon Barlow and Mrs. Mary Davis Hosford. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Barlow, his sister, Judith “Judy” Barlow Peacock, and the love of his life, JoAnn Branan Barlow. Mr. Barlow professed his faith as a Christian in 1974. He made his home Milledgeville, Georgia in the 1980’s, where he worked at Kendall McGaw Laboratories until they closed. He moved back to Macon and eventually to Fort Valley where he lived the last 30+ years of his life. He retired from Stalnaker Plastics where he worked as a machinist. He was a man of many talents from fabricating molds, metal working to designing and constructing decks and homes. Butch had an avid love for fast, sporty, muscle cars. He was a member of the Old Street Racers Club. He shares 3 children with the late Janice Faye Walker Barlow. Butch is survived by his children, son, Billy Barlow (Jan) of Gray, son, Brannon Barlow (Olivia) of Chester, daughter, Angel Filley (Clint) of Eatonton and stepdaughter, Stacey Shannon of Florida. He has 11 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Additionally, the family is deeply grateful for the loving care received by Mr. Barlow given in his last few months by his amazing team of caregivers at Lynn Haven Health and Rehabilitation in Gray, Georgia and Affinis Hospice of Gray, Georgia with a special thanks to Hannah and Leslie.
