"Samuel Rufus Jones Jr., 63, passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday February 6, 2024. Samuel was born on August 12, 1960 in New Haven, Connecticut to the late father, Samuel Jones Sr., survived by mother, Peggy King Jones. Samuel graduated from James Hillhouse High School in New Haven in 1980. Samuel professed his life to Christ at an early age and was a member of Castalia Missionary Baptist Church in Castalia, NC. He loved singing in the church and cherished praising the Lord. He was employed at Hubbell in Rocky Mount, North Carolina up until his passing. He enjoyed singing and was in a band and loved performing karaoke. He enjoyed helping others, making people laugh, and being around his beloved children and grandchildren. He was an amazing cook, and a dedicated farmer and loved riding on his tractor and helping his aunt plant on the family’s farm. Samuel loved to read his bible, praying for and with others. He always encouraged all around him to “Stay prayed up.\u0026quot; He enjoyed spending time with family, laughing and always wearing a smile on his face. He was a loving and caring person, devoted husband, father, and friend, always thinking of others and helping when in need. Samuel leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife Francine Fogle Jones; daughters, Samonna Jones, Jasmine Jones, Briana Jones, Asjha Jones, Aaliyah Jones, and sons, Terrell Rose, Samuel Jones III, Brendon Jones, and grandchildren, Arianna, Aviana, Alivia, Jayden, Levi, and Anilyee; mother of his children Nona; Brothers and sisters, Jacqueline Reed (Ron), Conrad Jones (Theresa), Gregory Jones (Frances), Kelli Jones (Lonnie), and Jeffrey Jones; As well as a host of nieces, nephews. cousins, and friends. Visitation with family and friends will be Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Castalia Missionary Baptist Church from 11:00am-12:45pm with a funeral service to be held at 1:00 pm with Rev. Minnie transitioned at home surrounded by who she loved the most, her children and family. Minnie chose a career of service as a caregiver. She took pride in the care she provided to her patients and was adored by them all. Minnie was a faithful member of Pyatts Chapel AME Zion Church. She was honored by her church family for her dedicated service. Minnie was preceded in death by her first husband Charlie Brouen Manning, Sr., her daughter Nancy Cofield, daughter-in-law Debbie Deans Davis, her siblings Bessie Howington, Carol Davis, Catherine Davis, Clinton Davis, Eloise Key, Geraldine Perry, James Davis, Lessie Davis, Marie Davis, Rosa Mae Davis, Tommy Davis, William Davis and her grandson Aaron Chanakira.
