Ann Humphrey
Age - 95
December 9, 2023
Ann passed on to be with her Lord on December 2, 2023, four days after celebrating her 95th birthday. She proudly lived independently until September of this year, when pneumonia took her strength, and she had to go into assisted living. Three weeks ago an advanced mass on her liver was detected. She was born at home in Danevang, Texas on November 28, 1928, to Frederick Rudolph Stepan and Annie Josephine Dluhos Stepan. . . . the second of four girls. She came to Houston at age 16 to work, and remained in the area (primarily Pasadena), to live the remainder of her life. Ann was predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, Charles Ray Humphrey in 2008. She had two children, Theresa (Terry) Ann Walker and Frederick Alan Humphrey, and three grandchildren Brianna Lyn Wagner, Brennan George Wagner (Taylore) and Ashleigh Kay Wingo (Will. ) She was blessed with four great-grandchildren, Drake Remington Wagner, Camryn Joy Wagner, Fletcher William Wingo, and Rainey Kay Wingo. Ann's two surviving sisters, Alice Mae Blaha of El Campo, Tx and Jeraldine (Jerri) Ann Gruber of Boerne, Tx are left to mourn her passing. She also has eight nieces and nephews (Donna McClung, Lisa Bubela, Stanley Blaha, Jr. , Calvin Blaha, Carolyn Blaha, Garland Blaha, Tammi Blalack, and Donna Gruber. ) Ann worked as an accounting specialist at Texas Pipe Bending almost her entire working career, winning Employee of the Year in 1972. She took great pride in her work. After retiring in 1984 to take care of her ill husband, she directed her energy to care-giving, along with learning to macrame, sew and continued her hobby of crocheting and working in her yard. She believed in hospitality. If someone was in her home, whatever she had, she was willing to share. Ann loved to receive mail, and would always watch for the mailman. When her mobility was impaired, she would ask her children or a kind neighbor, to check her mailbox. We felt she must have thought she had won the Publisher's Clearing House Sweepstakes, and was awaiting the notification, as she kept such a close eye on her mailbox. If you care to make a donation in her memory, the family appreciatively directs those to St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church, 10727 Hartsook St. , Houston, Tx. 77034, or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tn. 38105. The service will be held at Peevey Funeral Home, Monday, December 11th, at 1:00pm. , the visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Grand View Memorial Park.Show more
