Marlys Jean Swenby, of Glenwood City, WI, passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital on Saturday, September 2 after a brief hospitalization. She was born in Menomonie on July 29, 1943, to Merton & Ruby (Hoyt) McGilton, Marlys graduated from there as well. Marlys married the love of her life, Danny Douglas Swenby, on October 11, 1975. Their union was blessed with two boys, Justin and Nick. She was immensely proud of her boys. Another treasured role of Marlys' was grandma to Owen, Esdyn, Ava, and Bryn. Marlys and Danny owned and operated Glenwood City Dairy Center for 10 years until they sold the business to Ridgeland Co-op. She worked as a cook for Glenwood City School District until her retirement. She was fondly known as 'the bread lady' and made the best homemade bread for the students during her time there. Marlys was so proud of her family and supported Danny and the boys in all of their motorsports-related adventures, mostly tractor pulling. She was a phenomenal cook and made the best meals for her family. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, and visits from her kids and grandkids. After Danny's passing in 2017, she moved to town where she lived until her passing. She was steadfast in her faith and a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. There is comfort in knowing she is at peace with Danny, together watching over their family from heaven above. Marlys is survived by: sons Justin (Katie) and Nick (Sheila) Swenby of Downing, WI; grandchildren: Owen of Eau Claire, WI; Esdyn, Ava and Bryn Swenby of Downing, WI; brother James (Tina) McGilton of Pardeeville, WI; sisters Eleanor (Fritz) Larson and Virginia Thorson of Menomonie, WI; brothers-in-law: David (Pam) of Etwaha, TN; Darren (Judy) Southern; Dennis, Devin (Brandee), both of Downing, WI; sisters-in-law: Debby (Eugene) Klatt, Denise Timblin, Darla (Bucky) Utecht of Downing, WI, and Dori (Scott) Goodell of Wheeler, WI. She is further survived by nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday, September 8 from 9:00 a. m. - 11:00 a. m. followed by funeral services at 11:00 a. m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Glenwood City. Born on January 4, 1947, Dick's life was a testament to service, craftsmanship, and family. Dick was a proud retired Army Sergeant, a master carpenter, and a renowned knifemaker and gunsmith. His hands, guided by creativity and passion, crafted exquisite knives, intricate firearms, and beautiful woodwork. His love for working with his hands extended to his garden, where he nurtured life with the same care and dedication he applied to his craft. He is reunited in eternal peace with his beloved wife, Carlla Jean, and cherished daughters, Carra Kay and Kelly Ann. Preceding him in death were his parents, Richard Luther Lingerfelt and Robbie Lingerfelt, his sisters Joyce Stalker and Theresa Lingerfelt, nephew Carson Stalker, and niece Jill DeSmith. He is also preceded in death by his mother and father in law Al and Linda Holldorf his brother in law Merwyn Holldorf. He is survived by his son Scott Richard Lingerfelt and daughter-in-law Kari, and his daughter Barbara Swank and son-in-law Mike. His legacy lives on through his adoring grandchildren Meredith, Gabe, Garret, and Morgan, Sister Brenda Shelton each a testament to the love he shared and the values he instilled. Dick's dedication to service extended beyond his military career; he was a proud Freemason, a member of Collins-Spring Valley Lodge in Baldwin, WI. His commitment to brotherhood and community reflected his lifelong ethos of making the world a better place. A deployment with his Wisconsin National Guard unit to Iraq marked a significant chapter in his military journey, where he celebrated his 60th birthday amidst bravery and camaraderie. His military career, spanning continents from Alabama to Japan, Korea, Germany, and Iraq, was a source of immense pride and honor for him. Lori Ronnet Voeltz left this world on October 24th peacefully in the comfort of her own home surrounded by family. Lori was born in Menomonie, on March 14th, 1956 to Ronald and Donna Brettingen. Lori's roots were firmly planted in Glenwood City on the farm, where she spent most of her life. Some of the things she enjoyed were, going to church, gardening in her greenhouse, and most of all music. Lori was a dedicated and hardworking woman, alongside being a full-time mother, she also worked in the local school systems with young children. Her care and love for animals knew no bounds, dairy farming her entire life with the occasional forty raccoons she raised at once. Lori's compassion and kindness towards all creatures were truly remarkable. She was the beloved wife of Mark Voeltz, and together built a life filled with love and devotion for 42 years. Lori was a cherished mother to her five children, Adrian and wife Kristy Johnson, Adam Johnson, Casey Voeltz and wife Ann, Roni Voeltz and partner Chris Kruegerand Taylor Voeltz and wife Karley. Grandchildren Aiden, Abbie and Noah Johnson, Matthew and Lily Johnson, Mason Voeltz, Chesney, Cora and Landyn Leslie. Brother Darren Brettingen and Sister Doreen and husband Tom Best. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. But it was Lori's wit, big heart, and unwavering positivity that endeared her to everyone she met. Her infectious laughter brightened the darkest of days, and her optimistic outlook on life served as a guiding light for her family and friends. In the tapestry of our lives, Lori's thread was woven with love, laughter, and boundless generosity. She leaves behind a legacy of warm compassion and kindness that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Lori will be deeply missed, her absence leaving a void that cannot be filled. Mary Catherine Bonte (Hartwig), 89, of Glenwood City, WI was welcomed into the arms of the Lord and surrounded by love on October 20, 2023. Mary's faith remained at the center of her life and shone through her love for her family and friends. Mary was born on May 16, 1934 to Miles Earl Hartwig and Lucille Irene Hartwig (Gibson). Mary was the youngest of two children with her brother Robert "Bob" Hartwig paving the way for her. Mary received her education beginning at a little schoolhouse in Emerald, Wisconsin and ending with graduation from Glenwood City High School in Glenwood City, Wisconsin. She often told the story that the teachers had great difficulty believing she could be Bob's little sister since she was so well behaved. Mary was wed to Donald William Bonte on July 5, 1952. Mary raised six children with Don on the family's dairy farm; Donald, Dean, Julie, Doug, Dale, and Dan. Mary was so proud of her children and often told stories about each of them growing up on the farm. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family including the 20 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. Mary lived her entire life in the area growing up in Cylon, raising a family with the love of her life on the family farm in Emerald, and enjoying her legacy of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at her home in Glenwood City. Mary was known to be a hard worker, often handling the milking and other farm duties including the large flock of chickens and her large flock of children while her husband periodically worked off the farm. Mary once told the story of taking the eggs to town sell so she could buy new shoes for her children. It was obvious to all who knew her how important her family was to her and she set an example for how to care for those around her. Mary also knew how to enjoy life, spending time with family and friends over the years snowmobiling, hosting winter sleigh rides, camping in Shell Lake, Wisconsin, following her grandchildren in their activities and providing her home and food for family gatherings. Known for her kindness and soft-spoken nature as well as her baking repertoire including her always requested "Gramma Cake", pumpkin bars, and banana bread, Mary will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Mary's family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in her life and not the sadness of her passing. Mary is preceded into the arms of her Lord by parents Miles and Lucille Hartwig, her brother Robert Hartwig, her husband, Donald Bonte, her daughter Julie Brunkhorst, daughter-in-law Lynn (Donald) Bonte and many close relatives. She is survived by her boys, Donald Bonte, Dean and (Kathy) Bonte, Doug and (Pam) Bonte, Dale and (Gloria) Bonte, and Dan and (Lana Bonte) as well as dozens of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. A visitation will be held at Anderson Funeral Home on October 26 from 4 - 8 pm with funeral mass service at St. John Catholic Church on October 27 at 10:30 with visitation one hour before the service. Internment and luncheon to follow the service. Flowers and memorial gifts are welcome but not necessary. If moved to make a donation in her honor, Mary steadfastly supported her church and animal welfare.Show more

Brenda K. Garagiola, Age 81, passed on Thursday October 12, 2023 at home peacefully surrounded by family holding her hands and telling her we love you. Brenda was born August 22, 1942 in Neillsville, WI to William and Eleanor (Shoen) Neville. From the beginning Brenda was always a worker. The second oldest of eight children and the only girl. She cared for her seven brothers, while her mother worked the the farm. Cooking, cleaning and caring for childrenwould follow her. After leaving home in Neillsville,, WI in 1961, she went to work at the Veteran Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. Brenda later took a job at Buckbee - Mears in St. Paul,MN where she met the love of her life, Verne. They relocated to Glenwood City, WI in 1976, She worked at the Kernel Restaurant in Menomonie, WI. While attending WITC. She followed up by working for American Family Insurance in New Richmond, WI. She later retired after for working the Farm Services Bureau in Baldwin, WI until 2006 , all while caring for her family. She began her own company called BG's Naturals, working with flowers she grew in her own garden. Brenda made wreaths, swags and bouquets she filled with whatever someone needed to bring a beautiful arrangement of God's creations to your home. She also made jams, jellies, cookies, pies and her famous salsa, for craft fairs and the Farmer'sMarket. She will forever be remembered for her love of God's creations, horses, homemade food, Mexican cooking grass and willow baskets, gardening, crocheting rugs, pies and her friendships. The love for her children and her beautiful smile. Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, husband Verne Sr. and brother James Neville. Brenda is survived by children, Ronda (Robert) Bierbrauer, their children Christina (Matt) Ohler,Jessica (Tony) Mohser, Kurtis ((Shannon) Bierbrauer and Troy (Erin) Betcher and their children,Kinsey, Alba, Sloane, Ray, Frankie, Mal and Quinn Ohler. Isabel and Ryder Mosher, Rylie Bierbrauer,Luke, Emily and Elise Betcher. Son Augustine (Sue) Rangel and his children Zachary and Mariah Rangel. Son John Rangel and children Johnathan and Amanda Rangel and their children, Ashley, Noah,Emma, Jared, Kaitlyn and Kiley Rangel and a great grandchild Azariella Rangel-Saldana. Daughter Alicia Cypher, children Alexandria (David) Finnessy and Chasity (Larry) Loutzenhiser and their children Willow, Leo and Sebastian Finnessy and Levi Loutzenhiser. Daughter Jennifer Garagiola and child Aramus Day and son Verne Garagiola Jr. Brothers, William, Richard (Shar), Terry (Jana), Rodney (Shelley), Robert and Dallas (Rebecca) Neville. Ronald John Aeschliman, age 76, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023. Ron was the third son to Glen and Gladys (Warner) Aeschliman. He was born November 8, 1946, in Ladysmith, WI and grew up in Turtle Lake and then moved to the Glenwood City area. Ron married Susan Meyer on August 19, 1967, and raised five children: Robert, Rhonda, Rebecca, Renea, and Rita. Ron spent his early years farming and working for Friday Canning Corp. After selling the farm, he decided to give over-the-road semi driving a go. He enjoyed seeing the sites the country had to offer. He drove for around twenty-five years with most of those years with Millis Transfer of Black River Falls. After Ron retired from driving, he needed to keep busy, so he found a job working at the Glenwood City Carwash. Ron was a meticulous man and kept the carwash as spotless as the cars that drove through it. Ron had a big heart and would help anyone with any kind of project. He loved his family with all his heart and will be greatly missed. Ron is preceded in death by his parents Glen and Gladys (Warner) Aeschliman, stepfather William Warner, and sister Carolyn Winberg. He is survived by children Robert (Roberta) Aeschliman, Rhonda Hill, Rebecca (Mike) Mumm, Renea Aeschliman, and Rita Wittmer; grandchildren Christopher Aeschliman, Michael (Jackie) Aeschliman, Laura Aeschliman, Melanne (Nate) Irwin, Marissa (John Butterfuss) Hill, Evan Hill, Brady Mumm, Dayne Mumm, Nicole Nogal, Peyton Nogal, Zachary Wittmer and Spencer Wittmer; great grandchildren Kinsley Aeschliman, Ava Aeschliman, Bailey Aeschliman, Liam Irwin, and Mason Butterfuss; former spouse Susan Meyer; his brothers Melvin Aeschliman, Clarence (Karen) Aeschliman, Leonard (Rosetta) Aeschliman, Marvin (Nancy) Aeschliman and Randy Aeschliman; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. The visitation will be on Friday, August 11, 2023, from 5-8 pm at the Anderson Funeral Home in Glenwood City, Wisconsin. Died: June 27, 2023Joel Philip Schroeder of West Sedona, AZ died of sudden heart failure at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale MN on June 27 at the age of 49. He was born in Menomonie, Wisconsin minutes after his twin brother, Jeremy; the twins were born on their mother's birthday. Joel was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran church in Boyceville, Wisconsin. In 1992 he graduated from Glenwood City High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society, the band and the choir. He later graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire with a degree in Management Information Systems. Joel worked in the Minneapolis area and also in Door County, WI, Ocala, Fl, Richfield, MN and in Phoenix and Sedona, AZ. He often funded his travels with employment as a waiter in fine dining restaurants. Joel enjoyed travel and being in the outdoors, gardening, taking long hikes and cooking. He sometimes held an adventure-type job like being a kayaking guide or a chaser of hot air balloons. He wrote this about himself in his Linkedin profile and it speaks to the type of person he was. "I genuinely care for people. I want to help them in any way that I can, whether it be as simple as opening a door for someone or helping an individual work through a major life transition. "He married the love of his life, Angela Englund, on July 1, 2017. The couple lived in Sedona, AZ. For a time, they co-owned Rock Canyon Lapidary and Jewelry, a company that traded unique stones throughout the world. More recently, he was employed by Sockeye Consulting of Anchorage, Alaska as a Senior Application/Software Developer. Joel is preceded in death by his infant sister, Jineen, grandparents, Phil and Doris Herdahl of Boyceville and Alvin and Verba Schroeder of Glenwood City. He is survived by his wife, Angela Englund, his parents, John and JoAnne Schroeder of Downing, WI and his in laws, Ricky and Char Englund of Grand Rapids, MN, also brothers Jeff (Jennifer) of Prescott, AZ, Jeremy Schroeder of Downing, WI and a sister Janel Schachtner of New Richmond, WI. He was close to his aunts and uncles and his nieces and nephews: Logan and Riley Schachtner, Alexis Cran, Trenton and Megan Schroeder and Zachery Alberts and his great nephew, Grayson Alberts. Visitation will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Connorsville, WI on Saturday, July 8 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 followed by lunch at the church. On Saturday, July 29th at 2:00 PM, a Celebration of Joel's life will be held at the Pine Point Campground in Clear Lake Park.
