Wendyln Ann Alexander Lee, affectionally known as "Wendy" was born on New Years Day, January 1, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois to her loving parents, Rev. Hobart Wendell Alexander and Rev. Ethel T. Alexander. She was the third of four children; Gloria, Phillip, Wendy and Ronald. Being raised in a ministry family, Wendy worked and served diligently in the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. She lived in Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan and when she was twelve years of age, her family moved to Hamilton, Ohio in 1965. Her father was assigned the pastor of St. Phillips CME Church, where she served faithfully throughout the rest of her life. She was truly a devout servant from her early childhood to her final days on this earth! As a child she was a participant in Sunday School and other children's programs. As a youth she was a member of the Christian Youth Fellowship organization, Sunday School, children and youth choir, junior usher board and participated in plays and pageants. All her brothers and sister loved to sing in the choir. One day Wendy asked her father the question, "Does everyone have to sing in the choir? I like music, but I don't like singing in a choir. " Because of what she stated, a junior usher board was organized at St. Phillips. As an adult she served in the Women's Missionary Society, Women Ministry Groups, as Children and Youth Director, prayer ministries, worship leader, children and adult Sunday School teacher. Wendy found great joy in preparing and teaching the Sunday School lessons each week. She had a zest and zeal for learning and for teaching and sharing with others. Wendy touched the hearts of many people. Her personal ministry was helping others by just talking and listening to their concerns. She was always available to spend time and provide words of wisdom. Every Friday she joined in a prayer ministry via telephone conference call, praying for the needs of others. After graduating from Garfield High School in 1971, Wendy worked for many years at Ohio Casualty in Hamilton. When the headquarters office moved to Fairfield, she continued her employment throughout the company acquisition by Liberty Mutual Group. She worked as an actuary and underwriter until her retirement. Married on January 14, 1984, she and the love of her life, Lacy Curt Lee celebrated thirty-nine years of marriage. She enjoyed her husband's grilling and delicious cooking. They both enjoyed traveling together, and entertaining at their home with family, neighbors, and friends. She and her husband enjoyed gardening and had a green thumb; her yard had the biggest collard greens in town! Wendy enjoyed music, especially gospel music and could listen to it for hours! She also enjoyed jazz music, decorating, and collecting angels. Wendy also enjoyed line dancing at the BTW Community Center. On several occasions the group would go to the local nursing homes to visit, take gifts, and dance for the residents. She found enjoyment in taking walks; volunteering and donating in Gospel Mission, Toys for Tots, Angel Tree, and Backpacks for Kids Program, where she gave her time, talent, and resources. She was a generous supporter of the church both financially and spiritually. She was a devoted and loving wife to her husband, wonderful daughter to her mother, loving sister to her siblings, and nurturing aunt to her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Hobert Wendell Alexander and Rev. Ethel T. Alexander; two brothers, Phillip and Ronald Alexander; grandparents, aunts and uncles, mother and father-in-law, and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Her memory is cherished by her loving and dedicated husband, Lacy; her sister, Gloria (Rev. Dr. Stacey) Cole; sisters-in-law, Linda Alexander and Cora Sellers; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sister and brother-in-law, church family and dear friends.
