Kathryn R. Hutson, known to family and friends as Kathy, passed away peacefully Monday, February 19, 2024 after her battle with cancer. Kathy was born in Fort Pierce, Florida on October 26th, 1955. Named Kathryn Leona Revels by her parents Curtis and Annie Revels, each who have preceded her in death. Kathy's parents raised a family of eight children. Kathy's siblings included Lester Revels, Will Revels (deceased), Patricia Story, Gail Pylant, Dale Revels, Denny Revels, and Richard Revels. Graduated Ft Pierce Central High School in Ft. Pierce, Florida. In 1974, married Harold Hutson. Together they raised two children, Harold A. Hutson Ill, who preceded her in death, and Angela Hutson Joyner. Kathy has two granddaughters, Lolita Hutson and Layla Joyner. Daughter of a commercial fisherman, Kathy had skills and talent in fishing and fish net mending. Wife of 51 years, she enjoyed taking care of her family, home and farm animals. Member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. Her hobbies included gardening, fishing, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. A graveside funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. Susan Lee Pittman, 42 of Lake City, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at the Lake City Medical Center. Susan was born in Fort Myers, Florida the youngest of three children, to the late Billy Hiram Wallin and Minnie Lee Hill Wallin. The family lived in Fort Myers and moved to Lake City where she graduated from Columbia High School class of 1999. Susan continued her education earning her Registered Nursing License and was currently working in home healthcare. She love camping, fishing and going to the beach. Susan cherished the time she had to spend with her family and her Golden Retriever “Finn”. She was preceded in death by her parents, Billy and Minnie Lee Wallin. Russell Clayton “Russ” Busscher, 64 of Lake City, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024, at his home with his family under the care of Community Hospice. Russ was a lifelong resident of Lake City and a graduate of Columbia High School class of 1978. He was the former owner and operator of Russ’ Used Car Store in Lake City following a career in sales. Mr. Busscher also worked for the Columbia County School Board as a bus driver. Most recently, he drove a bus for Epiphany Catholic School until he retired due to declining health. Russ was known for his quick wit, humor and unconditional love. When able he enjoyed going on cruises, fishing and following Florida State Football. He loved to spend time with his family and his dog “Roly”. Mr. Busscher was preceded in death by his mother, Doleita “Dee” Sweat Busscher. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Vickie St. John Busscher, Lake City; his father, Gordon J. Albert Earl Nettles, 77 of Lake City, passed from this life on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at his home. He was born in Union County to the late Seth and Mabel Shaw Nettles. Mr. Nettles was raised in Lake City and was a graduate of Columbia High School class of 1964. He worked for the Florida Department of Transportation and retired with 39 years of employment. Mr. Nettles was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and attended the Price Creek Ward in Lake City. He loved to serve in his church and attending the temple. Mr. Nettles was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 37 years, Kristine Box Stiles; wife Glenda Bryant; his brothers, Charles Nettles and Joe Nettles; his sisters, Mary Frances Amerson, Sara Kate Hygema and Caroline Pierce. Douglas William Henningson, 81, of Lake City, Florida, passed away on Tuesday February 6, 2024, at the Lake City VA Medical Center Hospice from Lymphoma as a result of his exposure to Agent Orange during his service in Vietnam. He was born in East Orange, New Jersey to William Fredrick Henningson and Dagmar Katrina Henningson (Axman). Douglas attended Brick Township High School and studied mechanical engineering at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents and uncle Frederick Axman and treasured friends Senator Sherrill "Pete" Skinner and W. Randy Hatch. Douglas was employed at various mining and construction companies in Arizona and moved to Branford in 1989 to work with Gypsum Environmental Services. After his tenure there he worked for The Lake City Reporter, Precast Design, Inc of Orlando, Florida Safety Council, Inc, and Munzy's Golf Co. He is survived by his life partner of 32 years Victoria Dingee Ellis and her son George Arthur Ellis, his wife Susan Ellis, grandson Christopher George Ellis, Bradenton FL and granddaughter Mary Bridget Gullion and her husband Andrew Theodore Gullion, Deland. Ronald Dean Donaldson, Sr.

Ronald Dean Donaldson, Sr. 80 of Lake City, FL, passed away peacefully at home and entered the gates of heaven on February 16th, 2024, a day he has been looking forward to for years. Dean as he was fondly called, was born on June 8, 1943, in Shreveport, Louisiana along with a twin sister (Jean) to the late Dorothy Hudson Donaldson Thomas and John William (Bill) Donaldson and was lovingly raised by his stepfather Lewis Levi Thomas who cared for him as his own. He attended public school in White Springs, FL where he played football, and basketball, and was a member of the FFA. In 1961 he joined the Marines and following bootcamp he remained a reservist and joined the Florida National Guard. On April 16th,1965 he married Virginia Diane Gilbert and remained married to her for 52 years until her death in 2017. Together they had two children, and all resided in Lake City, FL. Dean began working as a fuel truck driver for G.T. (Doc) Melton after boot camp then a sheet metal mechanic at Aero Corporation before going to work as a security officer at Occidental Chemical Co. He eventually retired in 2008 after 18 years with the State of Florida as an Agriculture Inspection Officer. He was also a volunteer fireman in the 70’s. On February 6, 1972 he was ordained as a deacon with some of the finest men in Columbia County which included James Smith, Russell Cheshire, Louie Goble, Milton Laramore, Terry Roberts, and Larry Coates all at Pine Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. D.O. Goss. Dean faithfully attended Pine Grove for 60 years and served as a deacon, Sunday School director, and in other leadership positions as necessary until 2012 when he moved his church membership to Northside Baptist Church of Lake City to be with his daughter and son-in-law in their ministry. He became the head deacon of Northside Baptist Church where he served for 12 years until his departure to his heavenly home. He enjoyed farming, fishing and FSU football and was an avid Bobby Bowden fan. Mr. Donaldson was proceeded in death by his parents Dorothy Hudson Thomas and Lewis Levi Thomas, his wife of 52 years, Virginia Diane Gilbert Donaldson, his brothers John Paul Donaldson and Roger Theron Thomas, his son Ronald Dean Donaldson, Jr. and one grandson Seth Martin Harkey. He lovingly leaves behind his daughter Lori Donaldson Harkey (Burl), his grandchildren Holly Donaldson Staley (Kyle), Ashley Donaldson, Trent Donaldson, George Donaldson, and Levi Harkey (Stephanie) along with four great-grandchildren: Caroline, Hudson, Lydia, and Madelyn. He is also survived by two sisters whom he loved dearly; Sylvia Jean Goble (Louie) and Sarah Ann Kirkpatrick (John) along with a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Ronald Dean Donaldson, Sr. will be conducted on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday evening February 22, 2024, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 PM at Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. She worked for G.E. & Gates in Alachua, Florida for many years before retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Hopeful Baptist Church and loved gardening, flowers and her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Edward Sauls, her parents, Guy and Deloris Futch, her daughter, Joanne Hicks and infant daughter, Reba Sauls, a brother, Marvin Futch and a sister, Louise Cassel.
