Mark Anthony Mullis, age 61, of Bloomington, Indiana passed away at his residence on Friday, September 9, 2023. He was born in Bloomington on January 1, 1962 to Robert and Caroline (Fulford) Mullis. Mark was a handyman and enjoyed working outdoors, cycling, and finding a good deal at a yard sale or thrift store. Mark is survived by his daughter, Camden Ritchie (Michael), son, Anthony Scott Mullis, grandchildren, Leo and Theo Ritchie, brothers, Terry D. Mullis, Timothy D. Mullis (Susan), and Vernon D. Mullis (Kathy), sisters, Cheryl A. Welch (Mike), and Diana S. Fisher (David), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Mia Ritchie, and brothers, Robert "Buck" Mullis and Justin Mullis. Service arrangements are pending.

Elizabeth Sue Evans, 79, of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away on December 4, 2023. She was born on January 1, 1944, in Dallas, Texas, to the late Walter C. Harris and Golda D. Harris. Sue was preceded in death by her loving husband, Billy Dale Evans. Sue was a remarkable woman who had a lifelong passion for animals and their well-being. She dedicated more than 35 years of her life to breeding and showing English Springer Spaniels alongside her husband as well as working with breed rescue. She worked in retail, selling fine jewelry and stereo equipment and had excellent taste in both. Sue is survived by her daughter, Adrienne Evans Fernandez, son-in-law, Francis Paul Fernandez, and countless "doggy" friends across Texas, Indiana, and beyond. Sue's beloved one-eyed cat, Hemi, also mourns her passing. A celebration of Sue's life will be held at a later date. William Ray Mingee, son of Woodrow W. and Ella Maxine Mingee, passed away Friday, December 1, 2023 at Hospice House. He is survived by his wife Mary Joyce Mingee, son Kevin S. Mingee, daughter Cheryl D. Mingee, grandaughter Carri J. Merkle (Jonny). Surviving siblings Patricia A. Larimer (Danny), Beth E. Moore (Mark). Nieces Rhonda K. Houghtelin (John), Jessica A. Ingraham (Dustin), and Great-Niece; Megan Sipes, Nephew Kevin W. Burkett, and John K. Ingraham (deceased). Deceased siblings; Max R. Mingee, Michael S. Mingee, and Rita K. Ingraham. Bill enjoyed Country Music. He played Harmonica in several different bands. He was the best Harmonica player around. He also enjoyed mowing grass with his zero turn mower and making sure his yard look perfect, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. A private visitation was held for the family. Sarah Massa

Sarah Combs Massa passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023, after an intense battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband William S. Massa, III (Stan), their children Caroline E. Massa, Henry T. Massa and Joseph W. Massa, her parents Kathy B. and Steven R. Combs, her brother Andrew S. Combs, nephews Noah R. and Baylor K. Combs, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Sarah was preceded in death by her grandparents John T. and Kathryne G. Bible and Willie B. and Hazel E. Combs. She was a graduate of Morristown-Hamblen High School East and Walters State. After obtaining her real estate license, she found selling it lonely, and returned to waiting tables, which she actually liked as an extension of her social nature and tendency to care for others. Sarah relished swimming, boating, skiing, tubing - basically anything to do with being in and around the water. She enjoyed long distance running and was competitive in several half-marathons. She loved singing, dancing, acting and generally just being on stage, having had leading roles in multiple musicals and plays, been a member of Up With People, and even performed on Broadway once. She was an incredible cook and her natural abilities in the kitchen enabled her to be creative in taking on challenging dishes, entertaining frequently in earlier years and being a wonderful host to her friends and family. Along with her affinity for people, Sarah could never turn away a stray. Her love of animals led her to take in many found abandoned in strange places. Her biggest joy, by far though, was spending time with her kids. Her patience and compassion were most evident with them, and she managed to pass that on to them at an early age. She really loved watching them grow, attending their games and performances. She intended to be there forever, and she will, in spirit and in our hearts. Services will be held 7 PM, Friday, December 8, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church in Morristown, with Reverend Sam Schaus officiating. Visitation will be held from 5- 7 PM, before the services. The family will hold a private interment at a later date. Allen Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Melissa Anne Bellew, age 53, went to be with the lord on December 1, 2023. Melissa was such a genuinely loving person with a heart of gold. She loved her family and fur babies tremendously. She enjoyed time with her grandchildren and took so much pride in being a great nana. She was the greatest mother a child could ever ask for. No matter what she was always there for her 3 children. She held no ill will towards anyone or anything because she was full of love. We lost a mother, daughter, grandmother, and sister down here but now heavens got its most beautiful angel. James Barker

Age - 90

James "Philip" Barker, age 90, from Bloomington, Indiana, passed away at his home on December 2, 2023, following a short battle with cancer. He was born in Bloomington on July 20, 1933, to Calvin Amos Barker and Susie Smith. He graduated from Spencer High School, and after his sophomore year at Purdue University enlisted in the Navy in hopes of becoming a pilot. He was stationed in Hutchinson, Kansas for three years and then returned to Purdue to earn a degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1959. Following graduation Phil farmed the family farm where he was raised. He worked for a short time at Sarkes Tarzian and retired from a long career at Crane Naval Base in 1988. Philip and his wife, Jane, attended Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ. He was a dedicated servant and ambassador for Christ, helping lead others to Jesus even in his nineties. He had a passion for aviation, and was an avid farmer, perhaps best remembered for the Barker Berry Patch. Philip loved his family as much as he was loved by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Lillie "Jane" (Polley) Barker, children, Linda Cage (John), Paul Barker (Karen), and Bruce Barker (Amanda), grandchildren, Logan Cage (Jamie), Ian Cage (Lanae), Leah Anderson (Will), Jordan Spetter (Alex), Abbey Morris (Jake), Emily Barker, Lauren Barker, Jake Barker, Sam Barker, Alannah Stout, and Jet Truitt, great-grandchildren, Gannon Cage, Hunter Cage, Ivy Cage, Lillie Anderson, Fletcher Anderson, Naomi Cage, and Victoria Cage, two nieces, and one nephew. Philip was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Marjorie McCormick, Charles Barker and Benton Barker. Barbara Shipley

Barbara Jane Shipley, 77, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 in the intensive care unit at IU Health Bloomington. Barbara was born on August 1, 1946 in Pittsburgh, PA to her parents Walter Sanders and Betty Dickinson Sanders. As a child Barbara loved playing the violin and later attended West Virginia University where she received a Bachelor of Music Education degree and met her beloved husband, Donald Shipley. Barbara and Donald were married in 1968, shortly after which Donald joined the Air Force to serve in the Vietnam War. During their life together, Barbara and Donald traveled the country, settling in several cities, including Morgantown, WV; Princeton, NJ; Bakersfield, CA; and finally Bloomington, IN. Throughout this time, Barbara taught violin and directed youth orchestras at schools and conservatories. Her greatest joy was teaching private violin students everywhere she lived. In her free time, Barbara played in symphony and chamber orchestras and enjoyed painting in watercolor and oil mediums. In the final years of her life, Barbara spent time with her daughters and granddaughters, took art classes, produced beautiful paintings of her family and surroundings, took yoga classes, and played in both the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra and the New Horizons Orchestra. Barbara is survived by her two brothers, David Sanders and Daniel Sanders; her two daughters, Adrienne Shipley and Alison Shipley; and her three granddaughters Rose Shipley, Ella Shipley, and Diana Shipley. Her daughters and granddaughters were all by her side throughout her final day and at the moment of her death. Barbara was an amazing woman who dedicated her life to her husband, children, grandchildren and to spreading the joy of music to the hundreds of musicians she taught and played violin with throughout her life. She will be greatly missed by her daughters and granddaughters. Her funeral will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 4pm at the Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E.
