Mark Dwayne McDonald, 61, of Inwood, WV passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Berkeley Medical Center. Mark is the son of Dewey R. and Lena M. McDonald of Keyser, WV. He is survived by his wife and life partner of 16 years, Tracie Weaver, of Inwood; daughter, Amanda (Jeffrey) Thomas; and grandchildren, Kristina Sandford, Jason Sandford and Emma Thomas, all of Hawthorne Florida; brother, Steven McDonald, of Levels, sister Cindy (John) Thomas of Cumberland, MD and several cousins; and one niece and nephew. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a very proud submariner. He retired from Aero-Smith, Inc. in September 2020. He loved football, basketball and Nascar. He was a huge fan of the Boston Celtics - especially Larry Bird - the Pittsburgh Steelers and WVU football and basketball. Mark was a 1980 graduate of Frankfort High School where he was on the wrestling, baseball, and track teams. Mark was an avid pool player and enjoyed coaching his APA pool teams. He was the best dad and pappy in the world. In Retirement, he and Tracie enjoyed traveling and watching sports together, but their favorite past time was spending time with their grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Stern and Jacquelin McDonald, and Lonnie and Juanita Crock. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood. Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 12:00 pm at Oak Grove Cemetery in Levels, WV.

Norma Jocelene Thoma, 89 was called home to be with our Lord on November 29, 2023. Born August 12th, 1934 at home in Poca, West Virginia. She was raised on a farm with her sister Phyllis and brother Shirley, which gave her a great appreciation of nature. Being the oldest child, she always carried an incredible love for her family. She loved gardening, had an amazing green thumb and everything she touched bloomed so beautifully. Her life journey included working at Capital Airlines in WDC where she met the love of her life, Edward Thoma. They married in 1954 in WDC and four children followed: Deborah, Carolyn, Edward Jr. , and Susan. She loved her volunteer work with the Audubon Society and was an executive administrator for several prominent companies. She retired to Bunker Hill WV returning to her love of gardening and most importantly spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. Above all, she has always instilled in us the importance of family. Norma is preceded in death by her son Edward Joseph Thoma Jr, her grandson Tyler Joseph Thoma, her sister Phyllis Jean Craigo, brother Shirley Karnes and parents George Richmond Karnes and Hopie Mae Lett. Norma is survived by her husband Edward Joseph Thoma Sr. , her daughters Deborah Thoma Charboneau, Carolyn Thoma Murphy and Susan Thoma. Son-in-laws Timothy Charboneau, Brian Murphy, and daughter-in-law Shelley Thoma. By her grandchildren Amanda Murphy, Adam Murphy, Madeleine Charboneau, Zachary Thoma, Caleb Thoma and great grandchild Jayden Charboneau. A celebration of Norma's life will take place on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 1pm at Brown Funeral Home in Inwood, WV. Dorothy "Dott" Knighten DeHaven,85, of Inwood, WV, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born October 1, 1937 in Martinsburg, WV, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Elsie Beavers Knighten. She was a graduate of Shepherdstown High and retired from Berkeley County Schools. She is survived by her husband, Bruce Eugene DeHaven; two sons, Michael Helmick, Sr. (Mary Jean) and Randal Helmick; two stepdaughters, Karen M. Cupp (Bruce) and Barbara Fox (Terry); two stepsons, Gerald and Brian DeHaven (Sherry); four grandchildren; Rhiannon Nicole Helmick (Irvin Hood III), Jennifer Renee Helmick, Michael Byron Helmick, Jr. (Lisa), and Matthew Scott Helmick (Danielle); ten great grandchildren, Trey, Benjamin, Brianna, Kailee, Logan, Lillian, Landyn, Layla, Peyton and James; six great great grandchildren, Tyler, Easton, Rowan, Sutton, Wyatt, and Wrenley; eight step grandchildren; a number of great great step grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Snyder, and Patricia Potter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Buck, William, and Buddy Knighten; and three sisters, Betty DeVore, Martha Hopkins, and Elsie Disert; and one stepson Michael DeHaven. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 15, 2023 at 11AM at the Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Goforth officiating. Family will receive friends Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 6PM to 8PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
