Age - 60
May 8, 2023
Brigham City, UT
May 3rd, 2023 our father unexpectedly finished his time here on earth. Our hearts were shattered when our father/papa/brother/uncle/friend, C. Mark Martinez, 60, was taken from our lives all too soon. It is with profound sadness that we experience this loss, but with a yearning to honor him by standing tall. We'll endure this devastation by using his tenacity to get through these valleys and his optimism to appreciate the peaks that will come. With sadness comes beauty, and with tragedy comes strength. Letting faith light our way, celebrating what a beautiful gift it was to know and love Mark, we'll fight forward. Mark was born October 1, 1962 to Emma and Melax Martinez. He grew up in Sunset and graduated from Clearfield High. Mark was a fearless adventure seeker from day one. He earned his pilot's license and felt free flying small planes around the Mountain West for fun. He was a proud resident of Denver, Colorado when he moved there to attend college, earning his bachelor's degree in Aerospace Science from Metro State University. While living there, he became that trueblue Broncos fan you knew. A true lover of sports (especially football, baseball, & basketball), he knew so many stats, records, & players' backstories. If a game was on, you could count on him for a plethora of facts, predictions, and random tidbits that you can't just Google. Mark taught himself to play guitar when he was young, and he continued building his skills until the very end. His passion for music was unparalleled, and it carried him through good times and bad. He loved all music, but especially rock, blues, and R&B. Mark was well-traveled, making it to 5 continents. He loved exploring the world, but his favorite places were in the mountains of home and the beaches of Monterey, California. He really knew how to love people intensely and had a knack for knowing what to say to comfort, help, or give perspective/guidance. He made a genuine connection with every person he met in life. Mark was one-of-a-kind and the amount of sorrow felt with him not being with us on earth is a testament to how much love he spread around to the people lucky enough to be in his life. Mark is survived by his son, Christopher Martinez (Penny); daughter, Kaitlyn Davis (Tyler); five grandchildren, Abby, Emmarie, & Brynlee and Kash & Krew. He's also survived by his siblings, Abe Martinez (Carol), Becky Martinez (Rick), and Lonnie Martinez; and many nieces, nephews, & cousins.
