Margaret J. Barr, age 82 of Bellmawr, passed away Thursday morning, July 27, 2023 at home. She succumbed to the slow decline of Alzheimer's disease after a 7-year battle that robbed her of her smile, grace, and memory of those that loved her. Marge was born in Camden and moved to Bellmawr in 1964. There she made a home and began raising four children. When her children were well into school, Marge worked at Holt, Reinhart & Winston Publishers in Bellmawr, fulfilling orders, until she retired. It was then that she experienced the joy of being a grandmother. She took her grandchildren on daily trips to the park, read them "Brown Bear, Brown Bear," and spoiled them with treats. She was ready at moment's notice to babysit, root for them at soccer, baseball, or basketball games, or attend dance recitals. Among the grandchildren's favorite memories is that she claimed she was afraid to go on roller coasters but was always quick to join them on the wildest rides. When her husband, Cliff, retired, they began a long tradition of taking bus tours. They enjoyed the fellowship of their fellow passengers as much as the destinations. Eventually the bus tours were replaced with vacations with her children, Cliff and Michele and their spouses, and generated many cherished memories. For many years she looked forward to her favorite time of year, Christmas, and hosting Christmas Eve open house. Marge was a long-time member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Runnemede. It was there that she bloomed socially, joining the Friendly Circle, Sunshine Class, and the choir. More recently she volunteered at the food pantry. She is survived by her husband of almost 66 years, Clifford Barr, four children, Clifford Barr, Jr. , and his wife Betty, Michele Otero and her husband, John, Brian, and Renee Barr; grandchildren, Aileen Broomall and husband Ron, Melinda Martinez and husband, Matt, Amanda Barr, Eric Otero and his wife Kory, Ray Alcorn, Madilyn Flores, Jacob, and Kaitlyn Barr; 9 great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and many in laws and even some out laws. She was predeceased by her brother, Nicholas Lipenta. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service 11 AM, Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 200 E. Clements Bridge Road, Runnemede, NJ 08078, where there will be a viewing from 10 Am until 11 AM. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery, Hurffville, NJ.
