Marjorie "Marge" A. Miller (Obourn), 92, of Goshen, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, after an extended illness and into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born in Corning, New York on October 1, 1930, and is predeceased by her loving spouse John A. Miller; her father, Nicholas Palmer Obourn and her mother, Leone Mary Obourn (Deitlin), as well as her brothers James Obourn, Jack Obourn, and Edward Obourn from Corning, New York; her sister Denise Kress of Canonsburgh, Pennsylvania and her son-in-law, Steven Alberts from Goshen, Indiana. She is a graduate of the Class of 1948 Northside High School and was active in singing, acting, National Honor society, served as Vice President of "Tiger Talk" the school paper, and the Football Society where she met her future husband, John "Johnny" Miller. They were inseparable, enjoying life together whether it was sailing, camping, traveling or simply puttering around the house. They rarely failed to sing to one another, "You are My Sunshine" at the end of each day. While raising five children, Marge tirelessly volunteered at Caton Elementary School, Caton Bible Chapel, and Chamber's Camp during the summers. She also became a realtor, worked as a tax assessor for the town of Caton, and had retail careers at both Izard's in Elmira, New York and Dunham's in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. Beyond her love for the Lord, Marge was known for her beautiful soprano voice. She and the Ladies' Trio performed regularly on WCLI radio in Corning, New York as well as innumerable gospel functions throughout Upstate New York. Not surprisingly, her children most often remember the early morning hours when echoing throughout the old farmhouse she would sing hymns and choruses while doing her daily chores of cooking, cleaning, and getting five kids off to school. She was always singing!Devoted to her family, Marge would plan impromptu picnics setting a table with her wicker basket filled with food at Hills Creek, Harris Hill, or Watkins Glen State Park. The holidays were especially a time for her to shine with the house fully decorated, dishes of candy displayed, cookies, cakes, and pies baked, with turkey, roast beef, baked ham, and lasagna filling the table with the joy and love she felt for her family. Marge is survived by her five children and their spouses: Kurt Miller and his spouse Anecia; Sue Alberts (spouse Steve Alberts, deceased); Michael Miller and his spouse Julie; Peter Miller and his spouse Lori; and Marianne Davis (Miller) and her spouse Jeff.
