Anthony “Tony” Edward Davis, 63, passed away on Saturday, March 02, 2024. Tony was born on July 22, 1960 in Kankakee, IL to the late Jeffery Joseph Davis, II and Mary Elizabeth (Smith) Davis-Eggleston. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Jeffery Davis, III; his sister, Frances Davis-Taylor; sister-in-law, Jeannie Lovekamp; 2 nephews, Jason Jerome Davis and Joshua Emmanuel Carr. Tony married his loving wife of 46 years, Michelle Renee (Lovekamp) Davis, she survives. Also, left to cherish Tony’s memory are his brothers, Robert (Vonnie Jean) Davis, Walter “Walt” (Susan) Davis, Theopolis “Top” Davis, Theodore “Ted” (Mary) Davis, Delbert (Yolanda) Davis, Charles “Tim” (Kathy) Davis; sisters, Lottie Sims, Ethel (James) Carr, Jimmenia (John) Eggleston; and a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces & nephews. Tony was currently working for H.B. Fuller, and previously worked for Baker Rubber, Bremen Castings, and Dodge. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, bowling, and playing pool. In his younger years he was athletic, involved in swimming and wrestling. Tony was an avid Chicago Bears fan. He was a movie buff who loved watching westerns, Sci Fi, and karate. Tony loved to make people laugh, and telling informative exaggerated stories. He was the life of the party. Tony loved spending time with his family, especially taking trips and having BBQ's. Theresa ‘Terri’ Sharpe peacefully passed away Sunday evening surrounded by her loving family. Terri was known as Mother Theresa, the Sharpe matriarch, with her home referred to as Grand Central Station. Always with an open door policy, Terri was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. Nothing couldn’t be solved around her kitchen table with a cup of coffee. She was a lucky lady with a love of the casino, winning many jackpots over the years. Terri was born to Edmund and Anne (Slona) Urbanski September 13 1934. She was raised in South Bend, IN with her 4 beloved sisters. She excelled in school, attending St Hedrick Catholic School and South Bend Catholic on academic scholarship as a gifted student. She married the love of her life James Walter Sharpe on November 11 1954. Together they raised their 4 children in Granger, founding Aay’s rental in 1966. She was a devout Catholic and an active member of St Pius Catholic Church. She was on the board of directors of Reigns of Life, giving children of developmental disabilities the opportunity to work with horses, a Member and Speech Society and a charter member of the Puddle Lake Country Club. Terri is preceded in death by her parents Edmund and Anne, her husband James Walter Sharpe, eldest son James ‘Jimmy’ Sharpe, sisters Rita Davis, Joanne Badowski, Esther Ksiezopolski and Loretta Muszynski. She is survived by her loving children Michael (Nancy) Sharpe, Tim (Mary) Sharpe, Nance (John) Petty, Grandchildren Stephanie (Bryan) Bush, Ashley Sharpe, Shannon (Anthony) McKeen, Whitney (Brian) Sharpe-Ellis, Nicole Bonek, Great Grandchildren, Mick and Jude Whittaker, Isabella and Simone Bonebrake, Gino, Archie and Penny McKeen. Visitation will be on Friday March 8, 2024 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr. South Bend, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday March 9, 2024 at St. Pius X Catholic Church 52553 N Fir Rd. Granger, IN at 10:30 am. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the Mass. Born on November 5, 1997, in Vallejo, California, Walter was known for his friendly demeanor and his ability to light up any room with his humor. A proud graduate of Central High School, Walter channeled his diligent work ethic into a career where he was integral in the manufacturing of UPS trucks and contributed significantly to the team at Utilimaster. His colleagues respected him for his dedication and the positive atmosphere he cultivated. Walter is survived by his loving mother Janet (Ryan) Gordon, his father Walter Dayrit Sr., his cherished sisters Brittney Cruz, Ashley Cepeda, and Chelsea Ramirez, his caring uncle Tom (Jacqueline) Barton, adoring nieces Andrea Dunn, Emi, Ava, Gia, and Solei Ramirez, and his nephew Isaiah Urzua. His warm presence will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered by all who were fortunate to have known him. On August 05, 1972, Beverly married the love of her life, Benny Wachowiak. Together they raised their son, the late Morris B. Wachowiak. She took pride in being a good wife to Benny and loving mother to her son, Morris. Bev attended Adams High School. She worked as a school bus driver for South Bend Community School Corp. for several years. She was a member of MR Falcons, PNA, and a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church. Bev loved to dance and loved the Chicago Bears. She was an avid online shopper, QVC & HSN will truly miss her. Bev was an amazing cook specializing in anything Hungarian or Polish. Bev leaves behind her step-mother, Sharon “Sherri” Jones, Uncle & Aunt, Don and Judy Ruszkowski, and cousins, Scott (Cathi), Rick (Chrissy), Don and Dan (Deceased). Their two children survive: her son, Vincent (Michele) and daughter Jamie (Jerry) Snyder. Also surviving is grand-daughter Layla, grandson Anthony, great grand-daughter Audrey Mae and great grand-daughter Alena Jane, to be born in March. James S. Galwas, Sr., 78 years old, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at his residence in South Bend. James was born on May 1, 1945 in South Bend, IN to the late Stephen and Martha (Ebel) Galwas. Left to cherish their memory of James are his children, James (Micki) Galwas, Jr. and Jennifer Galwas; grandchildren, Alexis Felty, Austin Albright, and Noah Galwas: sister, Joan Roberts; and several nieces and nephews. James graduated from Washington High School in 1963. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served his nation during the Vietnam war where he was based in Hawaii and the Pacific. After being honorably discharged, James worked at RACO, where he retired after 44 years. James was a member of the American Legion Post 284, where he bartended every Friday night for 30 years. He was affectionately known as Jimmy by everyone in the club. James would always look forward to eating breakfast with his best friends, Larry Jarze, who he knew from gradeschool, and Chris Noetzel every Wednesday and Saturday at Allie’s Café. He also loved going to the casino and would routinely go every Thursday. Above all, James loved spending time with his family. Visitation for James will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, March 8, 2024 at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., South Bend, IN with a Funeral Service to begin at 1:00 pm. Evelyn L. (Mathews) Kovach, 91, of South Bend, passed away in the early afternoon on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, surrounded by her family. Evelyn was born on February 19, 1933 in Fredrick, Maryland, to the late Russell M. and Lucille (Titus) Mathews. She moved to South Bend and remained a lifelong resident to the area. On March 4, 1984, in South Bend, she married Joseph Kovach. They shared 23 years of marriage until his passing in 2007. Evelyn was a wonderful homemaker. She loved spending time with her family and especially with her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards in her spare time. Evelyn is survived by her children, Donna L. (William) Ricker of Mishawaka, Leonard R. (Cheryl) Jobe, Jr., of South Bend and Brian K. (Linda) Jobe of St. Petersburg, FL, and by six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Jane (Richard) Warrenfeltz, and by her brother, Bobby Mathews both of Keymar, MD. Along with her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by seven brothers. Friends may visit with the family on Monday March 4th, from 10:00am until Service time in the Hanely and Sons Funeral Home, 23421 State Rd. 23, South Bend. A service celebrating Evelyn’s life will be held at 11:00am in the funeral home with Pastor Dave Abbott of St. Paul Memorial Church officiating. Jack Szczesniak, 76, of South Bend, passed away on Tuesday February 27, 2024 in his home. He was born on October 31, 1947, in London, England, to the late Boleslaw and Natalia Szczeniak. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leszek and Andrew. Jack worked as a Security Guard at the St. Joseph County/City Building for over 35 years, before retiring in the mid-2000’s. Jack was a Sergeant for the United States Army Reserve after serving over 20 years. He is survived by his friend, Pete (Sarah) Shaw of South Bend and many many friends from years of visiting the local watering holes. He enjoyed collecting military memorabilia especially World War II German memorabilia. After graduating High School Randy became an over the road truck driver, allowing him to see the country and spend his time on the road. Randy also enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles, bowling, and golf. Randy had a hard outer shell, but underneath he could be soft and loving. He was an excellent artist and gifted in math.
