Theresa Lynn Barger, affectionately known as "Mawmaw" to her beloved grandchildren, passed away on November 25, 2023, in Dayton, Ohio surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on June 2, 1953, and lived a beautiful life filled with joy, devotion, and love, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate to know her. Theresa was a selfless, loving, and caring woman who dedicated her life to her family. Her love for her family was the cornerstone of her existence, and she cherished every moment spent with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an example of unconditional love and support, always putting the needs of her loved ones before her own. Her caring nature made everyone feel welcome and loved. Theresa was preceded in death by her father, Luther Pogue, mother Alma Loraine Whitescarver and infant son Terry Allan Jr. She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Terry Barger; her loving children, Shannon Queen, Brandon Barger, and Travis (Amanda) Barger; her cherished grandchildren, Brody (Kaitlyn) Queen, Parker and Peyton Queen, Danielle Barger, Owen and Cooper Barger; and her precious great-grandchildren, Luka and Remington Queen. She also leaves behind her siblings, Eddie (Debbie) Pogue, Linda Olszewski, Carol (Paul) Jenkins, Sharon (Ben) Campbell, Vicki (Fred) Wade, Eugene (Karen) Pettit, and Gail Shelton. Her family was her pride and joy, and she was the heart and soul of every family gathering. Mawmaw loved watching her grandchildren participate in various activities and took immense pride in their accomplishments. She was the family's biggest cheerleader, and her presence at their events always brought joy and excitement. Outside of her family, Theresa had a passion for sewing. Her nimble fingers created countless costumes, uniforms and repairs, each stitch a testament to her meticulous care and creativity. In addition to her love for her family, Theresa was known for her generosity and kindness. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, and her compassion was evident in all her interactions. She had a knack for making people feel special, always remembering birthdays, anniversaries, and individual preferences. As a breast cancer survivor, Theresa was a woman of great strength and courage, and her resilience in the face of adversity was a testament to her indomitable spirit. Theresa's life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and perseverance, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all those she touched. Theresa will be remembered as a woman of great character, a loving wife, a devoted mother, a doting grandmother, and a cherished sister. Her life was a tapestry of love and dedication, woven together by the threads of family, friendship, and perseverance. She may have taken her leave from this world, but her memory will forever be a cherished keepsake in the hearts of her family and friends. Visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Thursday, November 30th at Rogers Funeral Home New Lebanon. Funeral service will be Friday, December 1st also at the funeral home. Entombment will follow the service at Preble Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Pastor Stephen Betts will be officiating.
