Gallagher Sr, who passed away in June of this year. Gallagher and his wife Lynda (Stanley) Gallagher of Montpelier VA. Grandmother of Will Heatley, Lucas Gallagher, Caleb Gallagher and Catherine Gallagher. Born and raised in Woodbridge, New Jersey, Marge graduated from Woodbridge High School 1948. Marge was an excellent baseball scorekeeper and a die-hard Brooklyn Dodgers baseball fan, until the Dodgers moved to Los Angeles. When Marge was keeping score for the Edgar Hill Barriers back in 1944, she met a new right fielder, Dick Gallagher. Marge lovingly described Dick as 'a tall guy, with curly hair and big feet' who followed her home that evening on his bike. "My girlfriends and I threw pebbles at him from behind the big trees in front of my house". Fast forward to 1948; where Marge ran into Dick, recently discharged from the U. S. Army, at a local dance. Marge was quick to state how the Army had made Dick grow up and turn handsome. After graduating from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York City in 1950, she was hired as a secretary at NBC TV. Marge married Dick in October 1952. Marge continued her career in New York City for several years until their daughter was born in 1956. Marge shared her love of music and the beach with her family. She was a longtime, season ticket holder of the Metropolitan Opera House in NYC until the family relocated to Virginia in 1985. Marge's happy place was the beach. She relished time spent with lifelong friends and family swimming and sunbathing with marathon bridge games at night in Manasquan, NJ. Marge loved snorkeling in the Caribbean, visiting Little Cayman or Bonaire with Dick and friends and spending time with family at their cottage in Kill Devil Hills, NC. Marge treasured her time in the sun, sea and salty air. Until recently, Marge called Gleneagles subdivision of Brandermill her home, where she served as Treasurer of the Homeowners Association for a few years. Marge officially retired at the age of 82, after 17 years working at Virginia Asset Management. Earlier this year, Marge and her husband moved to The Crossroads at Bon Air, which they were enjoying very much. Family and friends are invited to Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel, 1020 Huguenot Rd, Midlothian, VA Thursday September 14, from 1-3pm and 5-7pm. Funeral service will be private.
