Marilyn June (Drury) Strait of Albion passed away peacefully on July 3, 2023. She was born June 16, 1935, daughter of the late Lynn and Retta (Case) Drury. After graduating from Albion High School in 1953 she married her high school sweetheart, John "Jack" Strait on September 14, 1954. The couple had seven children, 17 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren. She attended Edinboro University and had many jobs including working for Head Start, selling real estate, managing the Albion V. F. W with her husband, clerical work for the Veterans of Foreign Affairs and PA Senator Buzz Andrezeski, a Notary public and she sold Avon for over 30 years. A longtime member of the West Erie County Democrats, she served as head Chairwoman, secretary/treasurer and helped run their booth at the Albion Fair. She was a president of the Northwest Democratic Women. For six years she served as a Supervisor and secretary for Conneaut Township Municipality. She enjoyed reading, game shows, playing cards and the Golden Girls but above all she loved corresponding with her large family and group of friends from all over the country through cards, letters, phone calls and visits. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Jack, granddaughter Heather, grandson Keith, great-granddaughter Adeley, son-in-law Dale, siblings Ernie (Ruth), Viola (Jack), Kitty, Linnie (Ted), Buck (Cliff), Chuck, Alice (Lester), brother-in-laws Grady, Ed and Sobie, sister-in-laws Ida Lou, Nadine and Daisy and her beloved dogs Cleo, Venus and Leonard. Surviving are children; Jack (Doreen), Tim, Sam (Steph), Brenda (Mike), Tom, PJ, Connie (Greg), sister Wilma and sister-in-laws Audrey, Carol, Cookie and Judy as well as many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Marilyn's family would like to thank her caregivers at Rolling Fields Elder Care, home health caregivers Holly, Terri and Deb, Dr. David and Kippy Bodosky and staff, the Cranesville Fire Department and West County Paramedics for all of their help. Arrangements are being handled by the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home. Per Marilyn's request no services will be held. A celebration of life will be held at a later date (to be determined). Interment Will be at Marilyn's beloved family cemetery, Drury Cemetery, in Girard, PA.

Arlys M. Rea, age 97 of Girard, Pa. , was taken by the hand of God on Friday afternoon, November 17, 2023 at Pleasant Ridge Manor, Girard, Pa. Arlys was born on February 17, 1926 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the daughter of the late Charles W. and Cecil Victoria (West) Green. She graduated from the Clymer Central High School Class of 1942 and then started working at the Erie County Home in Girard where she earned her LPN license and continued working there until she retired. Arlys married her husband, Robert L. Rea who left her a widow in 1969. Together, Arlys and Robert raised six children. She was a member of the Federated Church in East Springfield where she was a member of the Golden Circle, attended the Senior Center and she enjoyed working as a kitchen helper during church dinners. She also was a member of the Tabitha Team which made lap robes for shut-ins in the area. She enjoyed reading historical and Christian books. She was very versed in the Bible and had read it from cover to cover too numerous times to count. Besides her parents and her husband, Arlys is preceded in death by two daughters, Cynthia A. Rea and Linda Sue McFadden; two sisters, Ardys Moniot and Shirley Peterson; two grandchildren, Courtney and Mike Rea; and a son-in-law, Bill McFadden. She is survived by four sons: Jim A. (Linda) Rea of Cranesville, Pa. , Robert L. (Sonia) Rea, Jr. of DelRay, NC, Edward A. (Naomi) Rea of Girard, and Darin L. (Carolyn) Rea of Michigan. She is also survived by a brother, Arold K. (Eva) Green of Ridgecrest, CA. , and fifteen grandchildren, and several great and great-great grandchildren. Friends and family are invited to call at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home at 11883 Main Street, East Springfield, Pa on Monday, November 20, 2023 from 2 until the time of the service at 4 p. m. , officiated by Pastor Ed Huntley of the Federated Church and Chaplain Keith Nitschke of Pleasant Ridge Manor. Arlys will be laid to rest next to her husband, Robert in the Beaver Dam Cemetery, Elgin, Pa at the convenience of the family. The family would like to express their many thanks to the staff of Unit A at Pleasant Ridge Manor for their wonderful and loving care that they gave to Arlys. God Bless You All! Ronald L. Harouff, age 71 of East Springfield, Pa. , passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at UPMC Hamot Medical Center. Ronald was born on February 5, 1952 in Meadville, Pa. , the son of the late William and Oletha (Shorts) Harouff. He graduated from the Fairview High School where he had excelled in the automotive department in the Tech Program. Upon graduating from high school, Ron worked at the Marx Toys in Girard until it Closed and also worked at the Northwest Gravel Pits for 25 years and various other local gravel pits. He was a member of the Northwestern Sportsman’s Club and also served as the Police Captain for the Springfield Volunteer Fire Department. In his spare time, Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and working as a pit-crew member on the race cars at Raceway Seven. Besides his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his four brothers; an Infant twin, Robert, Al, and Otis Harouff and a step-sister, Shirley Bowers. Ron is survived by his loving, supportive, special lady, Jan Daugherty. They have been together for the past 42 years. A son, Mark and his wife, Jen Betts of Conneaut, Ohio, and his step-son, Jason Daugherty of East Springfield. He is also survived by a step-sister, Diane Ferry of Edinboro and a step-brother, Duane Crandall of Kingsoul, Ohio, and four grandchildren: Ian Betts, Nathan Salovich, Aiden Daugherty, and Devin Mellot and many nieces and nephews. As was Ron’s wishes, no calling or services will be observed for him. He will be laid to rest with his parents in the Denny’s Cemetery in Meadville, Pa. Robert "Bob" F. Zurn Robert "Bob" Zurn, age 78 of East Springfield, Pa. , was welcomed home to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, May 24, 2023 at Pleasant Ridge Manor, Girard, Pa. Bob was born in Erie, Pa. , the son of the late Frederick W. and Dolores P. (Sonnabend) Zurn on September 18, 1944. After high school, Bob attended Kent State University where he met the love of his life, Juleann Peto. They were married in Geneva, OH on March 19, 1966. Together, they raised two children; Robert and Beth. Bob attended the West Springfield Baptist Church and had also served on the Springfield Boro Council, he was a Boy Scout Leader, and a baseball coach for the minor league in East and West Springfield. Bob was the Owner and President of Zurn Aluminum Products Co. in Girard for 55 years. His father, Frederick, started the business in 1966 and upon finishing his schooling, Bob went to work with his father and continued on with the business until he retired recently. In his earlier days, when Bob wasn’t working, he enjoyed canoeing, going to the hunting camp, and gardening. He enjoyed raising azaleas. Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Ann Briggs; two cousins, Billy Johnson and Bob Rapp; a brother-in-law, Louie Peto; and his grandma, Louise Hemme. He is survived by his wife, Juleann Zurn of 57 years and his son, Robert F. (Victoria) Zurn II and his daughter, Beth (Michael) Blum. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren; Rob Zurn III, and Sarah Zurn; Nikki, Abby, Carrie Ann, and Eliana Blum, Amber Vernon and a great-granddaughter, Marion Vernon. He is also survived by a sister, Carol (Kit) Kramer; and cousin, Kathy Rightnour; and brother-in-law, Tom Briggs. Services will be held at the convenience of the family and Bob will be laid to rest in the Springfield Cemetery alongside his parents and Baby Girl Zurn.
