. . . Marilyn (Gans) Klashman formerly of Newton, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully May 5, 2023. She was 90. Marilyn grew up in Roxbury and graduated from Boston University before settling in Newton to raise a family. Marilyn was predeceased by her loving husband, Saul, with whom she shared a remarkable 57 years of marriage. She was a devoted mother to her three children, David (Wendy), Diana (Tony), and Jodi. Family was of paramount importance to Marilyn, and she treasured her role as a grandmother. She adored her three grandchildren, Leslie, Meredith, and Courtney, and cherished the time spent with them. Marilyn took great pride in watching them grow and succeed, providing unwavering support and love. In addition to her immediate family, Marilyn was also preceded in death by her dear brother Lenny, and is survived by her niece Elizabeth Smullen (John). One of Marilyn's passions in life was playing bridge. She was not only an avid bridge player but also achieved the esteemed title of Bridge Life Master. Marilyn's love for the game took her on adventures across the country, attending bridge tournaments while Saul explored his passion for photography. Together they formed a perfect balance, sharing in their individual pursuits while enjoying each other's company. Marilyn had a vivacious spirit and loved hosting parties and entertaining her friends. Her home became a gathering place where laughter and joy filled the air, creating lasting memories for all who had the privilege of attending her gatherings. Additionally, Marilyn had a zest for life and thoroughly enjoyed dining out and exploring new restaurants with family and friends. An enthusiastic shopper, discovering unique treasures brought her great joy, especially when finding a perfect gift for a loved one. Marilyn's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff and those who cared for her at both Sunrise Senior Living in Burlington and Bridges by Epoch at Lexington, where she resided the past 5 years. A graveside service will be held at Newton Cemetery, 791 Walnut St. , Newton MA on Thursday, May 11 at 10:30am.
