A funeral service for Marilyn F. Davison will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 2:30 p. m. at Hope Lutheran Church of rural Smithfield, Nebraska with Mr. Joe Wilken officiating. Interment will follow at the Hope Lutheran Cemetery of rural Smithfield. Marilyn Faye Davison, 91 years of age, of Bertrand, Nebraska, passed away at her home on Friday, April 21, 2023. Marilyn was born on May 20, 1931, in Bertrand. She was the only child born to George and Laura (Suhr) Wortman. Marilyn graduated from Bertrand High School with the class of 1949. On June 12, 1949, she was united in marriage to Melvin Davison at Hope Lutheran Church, and to this union, two sons were born: Mark Alan and Mitchell Craig. The family made their home on farmsteads north of Bertrand. Marilyn worked housekeeping at the Bertrand Nursing Home from 1980-1984, at Betsy's Bobbins from 1984-1997, and worked as a sales clerk at Patty's Hallmark in Holdrege from 1997-2002. Marilyn was a lifelong member of Hope Lutheran Church, where she was baptized on June 14, 1931, and confirmed on July 1, 1945, she was always active in the church including teaching Sunday School, women's circle, and quilting in the Woman's Quilt Group. Marilyn enjoyed sewing especially quilts, making crafts, doing yard work and tending to her flowers. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one step-great-granddaughter, Claire Loisel a nephew, Steve Davison; two brothers-in-law: Donald Davison and his wife, Leona; and Mel's twin brother, Marvin Davison and his wife, Donna. Marilyn leaves to mourn her passing, two sons: Mark Davison and his wife, Lola of Smithfield; and Mitch Davison and his wife, Brigette of Lincoln, Nebraska; seven grandchildren: Chris Davison and his wife, Christina of Bertrand; Tyson Davison and his wife, Lindsay of Lawrence, Kansas; Danielle Davison of Lincoln; Susan Schutz of Ranger, Texas; Sally Loisel and her husband, Eric of Ft. Worth, Texas; Jason Coffman and his wife, Beth of Lincoln; and Jeremy Coffman of Lincoln; ten great-grandchildren: Tristen, Rhett, and Piper Davison; Finnley and Callum Davison; Noah and Keira Loisel; Behlen and Arista Coffman; and Hayes Coffman; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. The family is honoring Marilyn's wish for a private family visitation.
