Joseph Mark

Joseph Mark

Age - 56

December 7, 2023

Joseph (Joey) Michael Mark, born on November 24, 1966, in Spokane, WA, was a beacon of energy and curiosity from the very beginning. The son of Yvonne and Joe Mark, Joey's journey was marked by achievements and a spirit that touched the lives of many. His early years saw him at Trinity Elementary, and later, at Gonzaga Prep High School, where his athletic prowess shone brightly, particularly in football. As a key player on the '82 state championship team, Joey's excellence earned him and his team a place in the Prep Hall of Fame. Joey's talents drew attention from prestigious universities like Stanford, UW, Notre Dame, WSU, and others, ultimately choosing to be a Husky. However, fate took an unexpected turn when a neck injury during his sophomore year cut short his promising football career. Although his time on the field was curtailed, his love for the game endured. Undeterred, Joey completed his studies at UW in four years and transitioned to a career in remodel construction in Seattle. Eventually, the allure of his hometown beckoned him back to Spokane, where he continued to master his craft. His greatest joys in life were his children, Jordano and Liliana. A particularly special moment was witnessing Lili's wedding this summer, a memory that brought him immense happiness. Joey's talents extended beyond the construction site; he possessed an innate ability to fix anything and was known for his unwavering work ethic. His boundless energy often left him unaware of when to take a break. A soft spot in his heart existed for his nieces and nephews, each bestowed with affectionate nicknames. In his leisure, Joey found delight in muscle cars, model building, gardening, and caring for his rescue cats. His infectious smile and joyful demeanor made him a cherished son, grandson, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He could be described as helpful, loving, goofy, brave, artistically skilled, and good-hearted. Joseph (Joey) Michael Mark is survived by his loving parents, Joe and Yvonne Mark, his sister Holly Parker, and brothers John (with wife Jamie) and Jake (with wife Jessica), and his son Jordano, daughter Liliana Walker and her husband David. The void left by his departure will be deeply felt, and he will be missed greatly by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Joey passed into eternal peace on 11/22/23. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love and memories he brought into our lives. The funeral will occur at the Three Companions Chapel at Gonzaga Prep on Saturday, December 16th at 11 am. A reception will follow. Published by Spokesman-Review on Dec. 3, 2023.Show more
