Mariellyn Mccrystal Obituary

MCCRYSTAL, Mariellyn L. , age 98 years passed away 4/28/23. She was born November 4, 1924, to Hazel (nee Smith) and Jeremiah Lawson in Sault Ste Marie, Upper Peninsula, Michigan. She grew up in Flint, Michigan and graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1942. She was the first woman employed in the research lab of A/C Spark Plug. During WWII she proudly served her country in the Women's Army Corps in Naples Italy as an X-ray technician where she attained the rank of 1st Sargent. She was within the last 1% of surviving WWII veterans. Mariellyn considered homemaking her career and was supportive and participated in whatever activity or organization her children joined. She enjoyed growing and caring for houseplants and took great pride in growing a whole plant from just one leaf or blade. Survivors include; children: Patrick (Lynda), Kelly (Debra), Keith (Betsy), Kerry (Scott) Risner, and Sean (Suzy); Grandmother of 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; Preceded in death by her husband Robert C. McCrystal, (the longest serving Chairman on the Ypsilanti Planning Commission), and an infant daughter Peggy Joyce; Sister of the late William J.
