Marie Rose Phillips, 96, passed away on Monday at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Goldsboro, on October 18, 1922 to the late Benjamin Herman Rose and Ola Dare Sasser Rose. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Lebert Phillips and son, Herman Ray Phillips. Marie worked at R.G. Barry for 22 years and volunteered at Wayne Memorial Hospital for 23 years. Woodmen of the World honored Marie with the Good Neighbor Citation Award. Marie was a dedicated life-time member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Marie is survived by her daughter, Donna Phillips Reel of Raleigh; son, James Ronnie Phillips and wife Debbie of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Natalie Hare Francis and husband Mike, Katina Phillips Davis and husband Mike, Chris Phillips and wife Tabitha, Nathan Phillips and wife Jennifer; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Faye Phillips and sister, Elma Rose Snipes. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at Marie's home. A service to celebrate Marie's life will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
