Marie Beulah Martin, 93, of Hermitage passed away October 4, 2023. She was born June 15, 1930 the youngest of 9 children. She was a previous member of Whittset Chapel Baptist Church and current member of First Baptist Church of Hermitage. Her Christian faith and family were very important to her in her free time she enjoyed knitting and quilting. Mrs. Martin is survived by her daughter Teresa (Ricky) Watson; two granddaughters Nikki Daniel and Stacey (Danny) Croney and seven great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Herbert Martin and her daughter Patricia Johnson. Gathering of family and friends Saturday October 7, 2023 from 10:00am-12:00 noon at Hibbett and Hailey Funeral Home. Celebration of Life will be begin at 12:00 noon at Hibbett and Hailey Funeral Home. Burial following at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.

Ernest P. Stroop, 95, of Nashville, TN, passed away on December 1, 2023. Mr. Stroop was born in Readyville, TN, on May 7, 1928 to parents, Irving and Fannie Stroop. For more than fifty years, Mr. Stroop was a sales manager in the trucking industry. He was an avid golfer into his mid-eighties and a supporter of all the sporting programs at Vanderbilt University. He enjoyed the fellowship of his friends in the Hardee's Breakfast Group and was a long-time member of the Lebanon Road Church of Christ. Mr. Stroop is preceded in death by his father, Irving Clifton Stroop, Sr. ; his mother, Fannie Bell (Holmes) Stroop; his loving wife of forty-nine years, Chloe E. (Moore) Stroop; sisters Frances Irene Rentschler and Rachel Elrod; brother, I. C. Stroop, Jr. ; and great grandson, Henry Thomas Irwin. He is survived by sons Ronny Stroop (Sandra) and Tommy Stroop (Valerie); daughters Bonnie Topping (David) and Connie Barnard (Lincoln). Mr. Stroop also leaves behind eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends on Tuesday, December 5, from 10am - 12pm at the Hermitage Funeral Home. A graveside service will begin at 12pm in the Garden of Peace at Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Stephen Rouse III "Lil Steve" departed this life on Saturday, November 25, 2023. He was born in Nashville, TN on November 9, 1997, to Shari and Stephen Rouse Jr. He was preceded in death by brother, Antonio Michael Payne; grandmothers, Mary Frances Voorhies, Nelda Rouse; grandfather, Stephen Rouse Sr. uncles, Fred Brown, Clyde Payne; aunt, Verna Coleman; cousins: Mijha Hester, Michael Brown and DeAngelo Knox. Steve attended the Nashville Public Schools of Davidson County, where he graduated from Hunters Lane High School. He enjoyed coaching the Shelby Park Jaguars youth football teams. Steve accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Gethsemane Baptist Church. He later attended The House of God Church. He loved his family, his son J’King, he adored his daughters Kamera & Kenndia Rouse. Steve was the life of the party and loved his rap music. He enjoyed family and friends; everyone loved his smile. Mary Virginia Dishman passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 25 th, one month shy of her 90 th Birthday. Her daughter was at her side. Mary, affectionately known as (Mooey) was born in Bloomington Springs, TN. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Dishman, Hendersonville, TN. , Brother, Ben Skimmiehorn, Bloomington Springs, TN, and Brother-in-law Letcher Dishman (Brenda)and many nieces and nephews. On January 11, 1948, she was buried with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in baptism at the Baxter Church of Christ. Mary married Roy Estes Dishman on September 20, 1950. In 1954 they welcomed their daughter, Pamela Regina Dishman. It was devastating for Mary and Pam when Roy passed away unexpectedly on November 20, 1996. Mary's career included working for Washington Manufacturing and Opryland Hotel. She was the first female promoted to supervise the Cutting Room Department at Washington Manufacturing. When Washington Manufacturing closed, Mary applied for a position at Opryland Hotel. Within months she was promoted into a supervisory position. For many years, Mary was an avid gardener. She grew tomatoes, okra, squash and flowers. Many weekends involved canning and freezing for the winter. Mary had a tender heart for others. She was creative behind the scenes when helping others yet remained anonymous and never revealed her identity. After retiring, Mary was introduced to a new world. Having no exposure to Disney World, she was fascinated by the sight of this magical place. Watching her turn into a child, as she rode the "Dumbo" ride with her Great Goddaughter was so touching and a memory that her daughter will never forget. Mary was blessed with kind and supportive people in her life. The family would like to acknowledge the following individuals.
