Mrs. Marie Lange, age 97, of the Country Aire Retirement Estates in Lewistown, MO formerly of Ewing, MO passed away, Saturday, September 9, 2023 in the home. She was born February 11, 1926 in East St. Louis, IL a daughter of Fred and Mary Scharf Knepper. She married Henry W. Lange on November 4, 1947 in Pocahontas, Ark. , He died in 1983. Marie was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved to travel with Vera and Bob Krietemyer and went to many states, she also loved her dog pup pup. Marie was a fomer member of the Asbury United Methodist Church near Steffenville and after its closing became a member of the Durham United Methodist Church. She had worked four years at Continental Can in East St. Louis, 15 years at International Shoe Factory in Quincy, IL and 23 years for Harris Corporation where she retired. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Jo Ann Forhan of O'Fallon, IL, Carol Descours of Paris France, Shirley Snyder of Belleville, IL, Donald Ballard of Collinsville, IL, Richard Ballard of Springfield, MO, Terry Nichols of Viola, IL, Karen Lange Bugh of Ewing, MO, Kathy Lange Elder of Canton, MO and Carla Lange Corbin of Quincy, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and three sisters. Graveside services and burial will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 10:00 a. m. in the Ewing Memorial Cemetery in Ewing with Pastor Rusty Shultz officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday morning from 9:00 until 10:00 a. m. at the Ball-Davis Funeral Home in Ewing. The family suggests memorials be made to the Durham United Methodist Church or to the Country Aire Retirement Estates. Pallbearers will be: Chris Bugh, Stephanie Bugh, Jason Johnston, Kendra Speer, Darien Bugh and Nicholas Bugh. Mr. William (Willie) R. Gaus, age 79, of Ewing, MO passed away, Sunday, November 12, 2023 at 1:57 a. m. in Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. He was born March 6, 1944 in Quincy, IL a son of Chester Richard and Mildred Irene Logsdon Gaus. He graduated from Ewing High School in 1962. He married Margaret Ann Carder on June 19, 1965 at Bridal Cave in Camdenton, MO. She survives. Willie was employed by Titan Wheel (formerly Electric Wheel and Can-Am) and retired in 2009. He also farmed during this time as well. He was a member of the Lewis County Fair board for many years and enjoyed participating and winning many tractor pull events. He also enjoyed fishing, coon hunting, gardening, mushroom hunting and watching a good western movie. He was a very dedicated blood donator and donated many gallons over the years. In more recent years, he enjoyed doting on his beloved cat Frankie. In addition to his cherished cat, Willie also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and having the family over for Sunday dinners. He spent many hours pushing grandkids in the swing and would always have their favorite treats on hand from them. Survivors include his wife, Mardy Gaus of Ewing, one daughter, Regina (William Terlisner) Gaus of Quincy, IL; one son Darin (Chantel) Gaus of Ewing; four grandchildren, Sadie (Calvin) Smith of Quincy, IL, Lindseigh (Andrew) Griesbaum of Ewing, Alexis (Bryan) Davis of Palmyra and Zayne Gaus of Ewing; six great grandchildren, Andrin and Arrow Griesbaum, Denver and Dawsyn Davis, Sajrina and Catalina Smith; one sister, Berniece (Paul) Neisen of Ewing and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Eldon and Edwin Gaus. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 10:00 a. m. at the Ball-Davis Funeral Home in Ewing with Rev. Elmer Hagood officiating. Burial will be in Ewing Memorial Cemetery, Ewing, MO. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 4:00 p. m. until 7:00 p. m. at the Ball-Davis Funeral Home in Ewing. Judith (Judy) Lynn Scott, age 85, made her transition to Heaven October 30, 2023 very peacefully in her sleep at the home of her daughter Mary Inghram in Largo, Florida. Judy was born September 25, 1938 in Pontoosuc, Illinois, a daughter of Kathryn DeHaven (deceased) and Casper Lavon Atwell (deceased). She was married to the love of her life William Scott (deceased) for 50 years. She had seven biological children and three step-children: Mary Inghram (daughter) of Largo, Florida, Denny Walker, Jr. (deceased), Verla Burger (daughter) (deceased), Denise Reed (daughter) and son-in-law Kelly Reed of Shawnee, KS, Shawn Walker (son) and daughter-in-law Debbie Walker of Shawnee, KS, Nicky Walker (son) (deceased), Jodi Cheselka (daughter) of Kansas City, MO, Julie Moon (step-daughter) and son-in law Terry Moon of Canton, MO, Steve Scott (step-son) and daughter-in-law Jennifer Scott of Summerville, S. C. and Tracy Scott (step-son, deceased). Judy has two brothers and two sisters, Coleen Brown of LaGrange, MO, Brad DeHaven of Fort Madison, IA, Donna Link (deceased) and Mike DeHaven (deceased). Judy has 15 grandchildren; Monique, Scooter, Billy, Liz, Dana, James, Monte, Josh, Siana, Michael, Nicole, Jeff, Ben, Amanda, and Brandon; multiple great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; as well as many children throughout her life, not related, but loved her and called her Mom. She had amazing friends who were her family and were always there for her and she for them, especially Karen James, Jane and Teddy Livingston, Robin Keller, and Bev Dunn all from Canton. Judy loved family, friends, life and was always helping people. She was a country music singer and could bellow out in perfect pitch Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette and pretty much any country song you asked her to sing. Her heart was so big with love for everyone. She was invited to go on a USO tour in the late 60's to sing, but did not take the opportunity to follow fame. Rather she chose to stay home and become a beautiful, loving, kind, spunky, sweet amazing mom to raise her children. She will always be remembered in our hearts as the best, most beautiful, wonderful mom, grandma, friend who always spread love, good words and kindness to all. She was very active in volunteering to help at church, was a volunteer EMT in Canton, volunteered to do makeovers for people in the local nursing home in Canton, loved working the floral department at County Market in Canton and enjoyed making crafts and jewelry. Judy was an amazing woman who always went above and beyond to spread her love, kindness and cheer to all she came in contact with. She will be missed by so many people who loved her. She is at peace now, in Heaven with her love Bill. There will be a celebration of life in Canton, Missouri this spring 2024 for Judy and Bill together. A time and place will be announced later. Mr. Dennis G. Sheridan, age 81, of Ewing, MO passed away Thursday, July 27, 2023 at the La Belle Manor Nursing Home in La Belle, MO. He was born November 21, 1941 in Quincy, IL a son of Wilma Irene Fohrman (Al) Walker and Edward Sheridan. He married Shirley J. Peters on July 13, 1963 in Philadelphia, MO. Dennis was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ewing. He liked to hunt, fish and rebuild cars and operated Tin Doctor Autobody with his son Ric. Dennis operated a bulldozer for over 30 years for Klocke, Inc. , first with Eugene Klocke and later with Randy Klocke. Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Ewing; one daughter, Nikki (Darin) McCleary of Liberty, IL; two sons, Eric (Barb) Sheridan of Ewing and Tom (Teri) Sheridan of Reno, NV; granddaughter, Macy (Austin) Huber of Plainville, IL; grandsons, Logan (Madelyn) Sheridan of Quincy, Jonathan Willer of Payson, IL, Jamie (Jennifer) Kindhart of Philadelphia, MO, Zaquiri Sheridan of Reno, NV and Sam Sheridan of Reno NV; five great grandchildren and one brother, Steve Walker of Ewing. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Kent Sheridan and son in law, Fred Willer. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 11:00 a. m. at the First Baptist Church of Ewing with Rev. Tim Smith and Rev. Richard Ulrich officiating. Betty Jo Lloyd, 89, passed away July 4, 2023 in Blessing Hospital. She was born November 6, 1933 in Monticello to Fred and May Smith Leeser. She attended grade school and junior high in Monticello before attending her high school years in Canton High School where she graduated in 1951. During her Junior Play her character was cast as the love interest of the character played by Bill Lloyd. This sparked the beginning of a relationship that spanned 74 years. Bill and Betty Jo were married June 13, 1953 and they just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. After high school, Betty Jo began working at Martin Chevrolet as a bookkeeper, mastering Chevrolet's intensive bookkeeping system. She went on to work for Martin Chevrolet and Miller Chevrolet in Canton, Missouri and for Daniels Chevrolet in Kahoka. Betty Jo owned several businesses in Canton including The Craft Corner, The Flower Mill, and The Basket House. She also worked at the Bank of Monticello for several years before retiring. Betty Jo was a master at many crafts including knitting, counted cross stitch, ceramics, tolle painting, quilting, basket making and chair caning. She was also an accomplished artist gifting her children and grandchildren many of her paintings. For many years, she taught classes around the area in the art of making baskets, sewing garments and knitting. She sewed many of the clothes for Cindy and Jeanne during their school years and at times she could stitch up an outfit with less than 24 hours' notice. Many friends and family were gifted loaves of her Poppy Seed or Zucchini bread over the years. Betty Jo also enjoyed playing in several Bridge, Pinochle and Bunco groups. Betty Jo was a long-time member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Canton where she served as the Financial Secretary for over 40 years. She was also a 50 year member of Chapter BS PEO, Canton/Monticello Eastern Star, Canton Area Arts Council and served as an original board member of Sun & Surf Pool. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A visit from her great-grandchildren would always bring a smile to her face. Survivors include her husband, Bill of Canton, daughters Cindy McCutchan of Monticello and Jeanne (Fred Whaley) of Canton. She is also survived by grandchildren Jill (Brad) Putnam of Maywood, Dan (Brogan) McCutchan of Canton, Brandon Whaley of Philadelphia, PA and Alexandra (Jake) Perry of Plymouth, MA. Great grandchildren include Eli and Jackson Putnam, Reid, Eleanor and Dane McCutchan and Luke and Jordyn Perry. Other survivors include sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dennis & Betty Smith, nephew, Doug Smith, a great niece and several cousins who were like her brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Thomas William and Joseph Eric, and son-in-law, Dale McCutchanFuneral services will be held Monday, July 10 at 10:00 am in the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Canton with Rev. Dongjun Lee and Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Burial will be in Forest Grove Cemetery, Canton, MO. Visitation will be Sunday, July 9 from 4:00 to 7:00 at Davis Funeral Home in Canton. Mrs. Erma Jean Jones, age 92, of Ewing, MO passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 10:05 a. m. in the La Belle Manor Nursing Home in La Belle, MO. She was born December 29, 1930 in Johnstown, PA a daughter of Raymond William and Anna Orlena Guynn Cason. She married Eugene Jones on August 31, 1979 in Ewing, MO. He survives. She had been a member of Baptist churches in both Ewing and Durham and was currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Ewing, where she had served as a Bible School Teacher, Pre School Teacher and Sunday School teacher for over 50 years during which time she touched the lives of many children. She had worked at the Ewing Elementary School in the lunch room. She was a 70 plus year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Recently, after the birth of Rayzor Sharpe, she became a great-great grandmother. She was a homemaker her whole life and worked for and retired from Glenayre, Inc. , in Quincy, IL. She loved her flowers, garden, cardinal birds and her baseball team the St. Louis Cardinals. Survivors include her husband, Eugene of Ewing; son, Larry (Connie) Wiseman of Quincy, IL; daughter, Linda (Donnie) Bradshaw of Ewing, MO a stepson Ricky Jones of Ewing, MO; stepdaughter Vicky (Dennis) Henry of Swansea, IL; brother, Jack (Janet) Cason of Taylor, MO; sister, Janet Klocke of Ewing, MO; sister in law, Ruthie Cason of Ewing, MO; two grandchildren, Troy Wiseman of Idaho Falls, ID and Dana (Ray) Sharpe of Lewistown, MO; step grandchildren, Jason (Kristen) Henry of San Angelo, TX, Dr. Justin (Dr. Kaitlin ) Henry, of Springfield, IL, Brittany Henry of Mascoutah, IL and Heather Henry of Indianapolis, IN; 11 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Robert Cason and William Cason, one sister, Shirley Carter, one brother in law, Eugene Klocke and one step son, Rodney Jones. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 12, 2023 at 10:00 a. m. at the First Baptist Church in Ewing, MO with Rev. Tim Smith and Rev. Richard Ulrich officiating. Burial will be in Ewing Memorial Cemetery. Joseph W. Eisenbeiss of rural Monticello, MO passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 4 at the age of 57. Joe was born February 26, 1966 in Quincy, IL a son of Bill and Linda Eisenbeiss of Canton, MO. Joe is a graduate of Canton High School. As a teenager he began working part time for McRoberts Farms Inc. After graduating he continued to dedicate his life to the McRoberts farm as a full-time employee assisting with all aspects of the farm. In later years as the farm evolved, Joe managed the feeder calf backgrounding operation. Rain or shine, Joe could be found caring for the cattle, baling hay or pushing snow at the farm. He simply loved what he did. Joe was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and NASCAR fan. In the eyes of his loved ones, he was Smokin' Joe the BBQ King, always offering to smoke a prime rib for birthday parties or family gatherings. Joe could often be found at "the station" or the feed store enjoying conversation with a community of friends and neighbors. His contagious smile and giving heart will be greatly missed by the Monticello community. Joe was of the Protestant faith. Survivors include his life companion Laura Geisendorfer and her son Avery Logsdon (Chelsea Wood), father Bill Eisenbeiss, two sisters Jenny Buttig and Jackie Eisenbeiss, sister-in-law Brenna Eisenbeiss, aunts, an uncle, many cousins, and the Geisendorfer family. While Joe had no children of his own, he greatly cared for his many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, maternal and paternal grandparents, sister Susan Eisenbeiss, brother Stephen Eisenbeiss, brother-in-law Dennis Buttig, and other extended family members. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 10:00 a. m. at the Monticello United Methodist Church in Monticello, MO with Pastor Dewayne Larenson officiating. Burial will be in the Monticello Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, April 7, 2023 from 3:00 p. m. until 8:00 p. m. at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton, MO.
