Janice Ann Sipple, a cherished wife, stepmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2023, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal services. Born on November 7, 1954, in Lansing to the late Ira and Genevieve (Barber) Gee, Janice's life was a filled with love and dedication, marked by her passionate endeavors enabling her to face any challenge. Growing up in Lansing, Janice attended Waverly High School, where she laid the foundation for her future success. Her thirst for knowledge and her keen interest in business led her to earn a degree from Lansing Community College. Janice's academic pursuits were not just a testament to her intelligence but also a prelude to a career that would be both impactful and inspiring. Janice's professional journey began at the Dyslexia Institute, where she managed operations with a blend of compassion and efficiency. Her innate understanding of business dynamics saw her helm Gee Typing, a venture that not only honed her skills but also ignited a lifelong love for technology. This passion culminated in the creation of her own website, MichiganCCWClass. com, where she served as President with the unwavering support of her husband, Bob. Together, they built a company that reflected Janice's values and her commitment to empowering others. She resided in the Bath Community before moving to St. Johns to establish roots. On March 17, 1986, Janice married the love of her life, Robert Sipple, in St. Johns, Michigan. Their union was strengthened by the joy of caring for Bob's son, Kevin, who expanded their family to include a daughter-in-law Angela, of Kentucky. Janice's brother, Keith (Lori) Gee of Vermont, shares many childhood memories which will continue to be a source of comfort and reflection. Janice's passion for animals was more than a mere interest; it was a profound part of her being, stemming from her childhood. Whether it was the family pets or the wildlife she encountered, Janice's heart was always open to the animal kingdom. Her beloved dog, Maddie, was a constant source of joy and companionship, embodying the unconditional love that Janice herself so freely gave to others. Her love for animals was matched only by her love for her family and friends. Janice's presence at gatherings and social events was always a highlight, as she brought laughter, wisdom, and a warm embrace to those around her. Her ability to connect with people, to understand their needs, and to offer her support was a testament to her loving nature. She will be remembered as a woman who not only pursued her dreams with determination but also encouraged others to do the same. Anna Catherine (Chiado) Benardino was born to Mary and Joseph Chiado on June 2, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan. At the age of 95, she had a long life that was well-lived. She passed quietly in the early hours of November 28, 2023. Anna is back in the arms of her husband, Marty, to whom she was married 65 years! Anna is also reunited with her mom and dad; her sister, Rose; her brother, Don; in-laws, Angeline and Edward; brother-in-law, Mike; and the many friends and family she has lost over the years. Anna was a full-time mom and part-time bank teller. She enjoyed family meals, vacations, and cards. In her Florida retirement she enjoyed golf, walks on the beach, and family visits. While she couldn't out-drive Marty, she always found the fairway which was a good thing! As for boating - not so much - even though their boat was named for her! She enjoyed travel all throughout Michigan, the USA, and Europe! Mostly, she enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren! Anna is survived by her three children, Kenneth (Emily) Benardino, Kathryn (Don) McVaugh, and David Benardino; eight grandchildren, Jason (Beth) Valade, Nathan Benardino, Sarah (Jack) Basmadjian, Allison (Dan) Dunlap, Abby Benardino, Amy (Chris) Button, Carly (Drew) Purcell, and Jonathon McVaugh; and finally her eleven great-grandchildren, Tony, Will and Cate Valade, Kaidence, Kyrin and Korbin Shiflet, Ashton McVaugh, Ezra Benardino and Sophia, Rocco and Luca Basmadjian. She is also survived by many friends, extended family, and her neighbors and staff at the Grand Haven Living Center - her home for the past 11 years! A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 10:30 AM, with a one-hour prior visitation from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 4437 W Willow Hwy. , Lansing, MI 48917. Following Mass, Anna will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery, 2520 W Willow St. , Lansing, MI 48917. Jack Reinhold Piotter, 85, of Haslett Michigan, passed away of natural causes on November 28, 2023. Born on October 27, 1938 in Adrian Michigan, he grew up working on the family farm and later Jack went to work in his parents store, Duke's Market. Jack is survived by his wife, Bonnie Lou Piotter (Sweet), children Jeff Piotter, Denise Swartz (Tim), and Steven (Christine) Piotter. He was the cherished grandfather to Joel Swartz (Megan), Corrine Soave (Jason), Jeffrey Piotter Jr. , Madeleine (Jason) Piotter, Jeanna Piotter, and Reece Piotter. Jack also leaves behind 3 great-grandchildren Laylah and Melody Swartz and Marshall Soave. He is also survived by his sister Patricia Wisney (William) and brother James (Janice) Piotter and sister in law Kathy Piotter as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Jack was preceded in death by his parents Reinhold and Helen and brother David. Jack's educational journey began at St. Mary's grade school, and continued through Adrian Catholic High School, where he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. He furthered his education at Western Michigan University earning both his bachelor's and master's degrees. He was a member of Delta Chi fraternity. Jack's passion for teaching and coaching led him to a 40+ year career beginning in the Kalamazoo and Portage school districts. In 1969 he made the move to East Lansing where he taught Physical Education, coached freshman baseball, and was the assistant coach of the varsity football team until his retirement in 2003. Through his career Jack had numerous accomplishments, including being part of the coaching staff of 1981 West All Star Football team. In 1986 he was inducted to the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame. In 1991 he was part of the coaching staff leading ELHS football team to the State Championship. Notably, the 1973 ELHS varsity team along with his fellow coaches, achieved an undefeated season, leading to their induction to the Greater Lansing Area Sports Hall of Fame in 2017. Outside of his career, Jack enjoyed random road trips to discover different attractions or unique and good food. He also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. Jack was a charter member of the Barton City Hunt Club. In memory of Jack Reinhold Piotter contributions can be made to the Saint Vincent De Paul Society and/or the Michigan Conservation Club. The family would like to extend gratitude to Jack's entire medical team and the staff and friends at Brookdale Meridian. Jack will be remembered as a kind-hearted, humble man who touched the lives of many through his Faith, teaching, coaching, and unwavering dedication to his family. Judith "Judy" Rau, age 84, passed away peacefully at her home in East Lansing, Michigan, with her husband Rich at her side on November 27, 2023. Born on May 17, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, to Thomas and Thelma Gates, Judy's journey through life was marked by love, kindness, and a deep commitment to her family and community. On November 22, 1986, she married the love of her life, Rich Rau, after the two met while working together at Bryant Heating and Cooling in Madison Heights, Michigan. Judy's life took her to various places, including East Lansing and Boyne City, leaving a trail of cherished memories and lasting connections. She was a devoted and longtime member of Martin Luther Chapel and served as the former president of the H. E. L. O. club, embodying the spirit of community and friendship. Judy is survived by her loving husband, Rich Rau, and her children, Steve and Yolanda Kassak and Andy Kassak. She also leaves behind her brother, Howard Gates, and a special friend, Jan Dressel. Judy is preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn Shepheard, and her parents. Judy's family truly gives thanks for the wonderful care she received from the McLaren Hospice Team over the last eight months. A memorial service to honor Judy's life will be held on December 6, 2023, at 1:30 PM at Martin Luther Chapel, 444 Abbot Rd. , East Lansing, MI 48823, with a one-hour visitation from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM prior to the service. ObituaryWilliam E. Dean transitioned to live with his Lord on October 17, 2023. Mr. Dean was born to William Edward and Kahran Severa Dean on May 29, 1948 in Lansing, Michigan, and gave his life to Christ at an early age. William attended school in the Lansing School District, graduating from Lansing Sexton High School, and married his beloved wife, Dyann, on November 2, 1984. After attending on year at Michigan State University, Mr. Dean joined the United States Army and served over four years as a Helicopter pilot and instructor (Department of Tactics, Fort Rucker, AL), including two one-year tours of duty in the Republic of South Vietnam. Mr. Dean earned several medals (the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with 23 Oak Leaf Clusters) and was honorably discharged with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer (CW2). After leaving the Army, Mr. Dean continued his education earning five associate degrees from Lansing Community College (all Cum Laude) and a bachelor's degree with dual majors (Management and Marketing) from Northwood University (Magna Cum Laude) in Midland, MI. Mr. Dean was also a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Society. Mr. Dean was a member of Pentecostal Church of God in Christ (Elder Larry M. Trice, Sr. ) and served as head usher at Living Word Outreach Church (Pastors Chuck and Ruth McGill) and Abundant Gace Faith Church (Pastors Louis Dixon, Sr. and Pamela Dixon). Mr. Dean was preceded in death by: his parents, William and Kahran Dean; step-mother, Elizabeth Dean; grandparents, John and Brunella (Nellie) Tyler and Willie and Annie Murray; granddaughter, Aujanei Wilson; and sister, Kahran Dean. Mr. Dean leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 38 years, Dyann Dean; brother, Gregory Dean; his daughters, LaTesha Clemons, Taneisha (Moses) Hobbs, and Olyvia Dean; grandchildren, William Allen, Lurritian Caulk, Shawn Clemons, and Daisa Clemons; great-granddaughters, Amaya Allen, Makayla Allen, and Patience Caulk; nephews, DeWayne Washington, George Washington, and Michael Dean; several great-nieces and nephews; and many cousins and friends, including John Parks, George Reddin, Terry Collins; and very special friend Arthur "Tisom" Thomas.
