Marianne (Emerton) Fitzpatrick, of Cohasset and Hyannis Port. Marianne Fitzpatrick, devoted mother and wife, talented entrepreneur, charismatic leader and community advocate, passed away peacefully at her home. Marianne grew up in Belmont, and while a Bostonian by birth and locus, the stamps in her passport betrayed a curious and adventurous spirit that took her and her family from Boston to Manhattan Beach, California and back, from the arid grasslands of southern Africa to the cramped and colorful streets of Havana and from to the lush landscape of Ireland to the green-blue waters of the Caribbean. Her ease with introducing her family to distinctive locales and cultures stemmed from her extended and immersive settlement in Paris long before she embraced marriage and motherhood. Her engaging personality, gift for communication and meticulousness served her well during her professional years as a marketing executive for Lotus Development and later IBM. As her family took more of a center stage, she founded Acacia Marketing Group, working with select software companies in developing global marketing campaigns and user engagement strategies. Spending her children's formative years in southern California, Marianne fused a "California cool" ethos to a well-honed Bostonian pragmatism that endeared her to all who came into her orbit. A highly engaging conversationalist, she could hold forth on any topic, listen with intensity, and brighten any room with her unmistakable laughter and welcoming smile. Marianne was a loyal and resolute friend, equally nurturing childhood relationships and energetically forging new connections. Marianne's highest calling was her passion and dedication to her family and surroundings. Rare was a day that didn't involve people - whether it be advancing a cause, engaging in the community or providing insight and direction to her clients. Notably, Marianne took great pride in her role as President of the Boston College High School Parent Association, a school from which her sons recently graduated. Marianne was an effortlessly elegant and welcoming hostess and, whether it be entertaining at home, strolling the town center or touring a faraway land, she reveled in connecting with everybody and anybody - neighbors, teachers, guides, civic leaders and local business owners. They all had a story and Marianne was a rapt audience. Marianne was a devoted mother, compassionate wife and loving daughter and sister. She was, without question, the center of her family's universe. She leaves her husband of 21 years, Bob, sons Dylan and Shane, her mother Jayne Emerton, brothers Robert (Anne) and John (Colleen), nephew Stephen and niece Ava. She is predeceased by her father, Robert Emerton. She also leaves many dear friends who brought great joy and meaning to her life. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 26, 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer Street, Cohasset. A Mass of Christian Burial willbe celebrated on Monday, June 27 at 10:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Parish, 2 Summer Street, Cohasset.
