Marianne Bolgen Obituary

Marianne Bolgen Of Tewksbury formerly of Stoneham, passed away peacefully at her home on May 2, 2023 at the age of 98. Loving wife of the late Christian S. Bolgen. Devoted mother of Christian R. of Tewksbury, Nils and his wife Patricia (Callahan) of Foxboro, Stig and his wife Claudia (Leis) of Woburn, the late Susan Carrol Bolgen, and the late Erik Bolgen. Caring Farmor to her cherished grandchildren Kurt and his wife Laura, Dana and her husband Matthew, and Lisa; and Oldemor to her great-grandchildren Rosalie, Jack, Henrik, and Emily. Marianne was born in 1924 in Copenhagen, Denmark to the late Flora Alfreda Borch Jorgensen and Henning Christian Jorgensen. She enjoyed the simple things that were available in those times including biking around the city, and became an accomplished piano player. Marianne was a life-long knitter, crafting sweaters and hats for family and to be donated to others. Marianne provided relief services in Munich, Germany immediately after World War II and there she met her future husband, Christian. They were married in 1947 in Copenhagen and spent over 70 happy years growing their family and traveling together. Marianne was a loving constant in the lives of her family and friends. She came from a time when written correspondence was perhaps more highly valued than today. When visits were not possible, she stayed connected through cards, letters, and email. She demonstrated that simply "being there" and staying in touch were as important as other accomplishments in life. Her thoughtfulness, grace, and respect for others were unmatched.
