"Mariana R. Garcia 4/24/1928 ~ 9/11/2023 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our most beloved and beautiful mother. Mariana was known as Anita or Mrs. Garcia, but to us she was Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma. Mom was born in Mercedes, Texas to the late Pedro and Genoveva Rodriguez. Life was simple but hard most of her early life. Yet she and her seven siblings had lots of love. Mom would often talk about the hardships but also the great love they had for one another. Mom married Jesus L. Garcia in 1948 and together they had twelve children. It was a challenge to feed and care for all of us especially at a time when everything was scarce and made from scratch. Even diapers! Yet Mom did the best she could with what they had. We could always count on a pot of beans, a pan of rice and fresh tortillas. Let's not forget the butter! In addition to her parents, Mom is pre-deceased by her husband Jesus, her daughters Guadalupe and Maria Anita, a granddaughter Matilda, her brothers Jesse Rodriguez Rogers, Frank Rodriguez, Margarito Rodriguez, sisters Margaret Gonzalez, Gloria Ensinia and sons in law Jose Uribe and Ray Gonzalez. Mom is survived by her children Juan Garcia, Elvira Uribe, David Garcia, Elvia Mata (Ascencion), Diana Gonzalez, Oralia Garcia, Rachel Oviedo (Jose), Elida Lara (Sergio), Jesse Garcia, Paul Garcia (Angie). She is also survived by her brother Raymond Rodriguez (Connie) and her sister Amelia Hopgood (Ray). Left to cherish her memory too, are her grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart. Lisa, Veronica, Jesse, Johnny, Robert, Michael, Richard, Vera, Christopher, Diana, Andres, Ramon, Linda, Genevieve, Melanie, Michelle, Miguel, Sonny, Cora, Teri, Paul Anthony, Serena, Kirsten. And 38 great grandchildren. Honored to carry Mom to her final resting place as pall bearers are, Robert Uribe, Michael Uribe, Richard Uribe, Andres Gonzalez, Ramon Gonzalez, Christopher Mata, Miguel Gonzalez and Paul Anthony Garcia. Visitation will be held at Rudy Garza Funeral Home Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with the Holy Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, September 15, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church with interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Even at 95 years old, we wished for one more conversation with Mom. She was much loved and will be missed terribly. Rest in Peace Mom, thank you for the many years we had with you. "
