William Thomas Bryant, a beloved son, father, educator, businessman, community member and lifelong Christian, passed away on February 19, 2024, at the age of 96 in Arlington, Texas. Born on December 31, 1927, in Wolfe City, Texas to Clyde and Laura Bryant, William’s life was one dedicated to education and service. Equipped with a Master’s Degree in Education, William’s passion for learning led him through Southeastern Oklahoma State University, East Texas State University, and Stephen F. Austin State University, where he specialized in Horticulture and Forestry. His career in education spanned over 25 years, beginning as a teacher, and later progressing to the role of principal. William made significant contributions as the former Bradfield School Principal at Highland Park Independent School District and Gladewater Independent School District. Beyond the field of education, William’s diverse interests shone through his work as a Steam Train Engineer at Six Flags Over Texas, an Appraisal Board Member at the Tarrant County Appraisal District, and a former Regional Desk Chief at the U.S. Department of Education. He was also a skilled woodworker and the proud owner of Austin Hardwoods, showcasing his business skills and dedication to his craft. William’s love for the community was evident in his active roles, including being a Master Mason for over sixty-five years and earning the esteemed title of Texas Master Gardener. His legacy lives on through his dedication to service and his commitment to fostering growth and learning in others. William is survived by his devoted sons, Channing Bryant and Bradley Bryant, who will cherish his memory and continue his legacy of passion and service. He is also survived by grandson Aiden Bryant, granddaughter Jessilyn Tran and cousin Needham Bryant. Funeral services and ceremonies to celebrate William’s life will be announced in the coming days, providing an opportunity for family, friends, and the community to honor and remember a remarkable individual whose impact will be felt for years to come.

Gerald John Weisenfels

Gerald John Weisenfels, 85, passed away Monday, February 19, 2024 in Arlington, Texas. Private graveside services will be held at Mount Carmel Cemetery near Electra, Texas at a later date. He will be buried alongside his parents and grandparents, who were settlers of the Mount Carmel Catholic Community which was established in the early 1900’s. During his early years he was a member of Mount Carmel Catholic Church which his grandfather helped to build and St. Paul Catholic Church in Electra. Gerald was born on November 12, 1938 in Electra to the late John Peter and Mary (Kohl) Weisenfels. He grew up on a farm and dairy north of Punkin Center, Texas and graduated from Electra High School in 1957. He attended Texas Tech University and received his Bachelor of Business Administration in 1965 after a two-year service break. On April 24, 1974, he and Cecilia Roessler were married in Carrolton, Texas. Gerald served in the Army for a year and was recalled to active duty for another year in the National Guard during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Gerald began his accounting career as the Controller of the American Grain Corporation in Plainview, Texas in 1965. Over his career, he worked for three Federal Agencies, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in Washington, DC, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in Dallas and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in Fort Worth, Texas. Gerald was a system accountant for the USDA and the Director of the regional accounting operations for both the IRS and HUD. His parents and sister, Loretta Corder, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Cecilia; son Gerry and his wife Shannon and granddaughter Shannon and grandsons Hayden and John of Midland, Texas; sister Rosemary Kohl of Fort Worth, Texas and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 600 Davey Dr, Burkburnett, Texas 76354 or a charity of your choice…all in memory of Gerald Weisenfels.

Jason Andrew Postert was born to Jon and Laura Postert on August 14, 1982, in Dallas Texas. On February 15, 2024, Jason passed away at the age of 41. He is preceded in death by his Grand Parents; Henry Postert, Alicia Adams, Stanley and Katherine Garrett, his father; Jon Postert and Uncles; Shane Postert, Stanley (Butch) Garrett, Mark Garrett, and Andrew Garrett. Jason leaves behind his 3 sons’; Jordan, Ashton, and Tristan Postert; His mother Laura Postert; His sibling Joshua Postert; His Uncle’s Henry Postert, Max Schaefer, David Garrett; His Aunt Elizabeth Smith, Aunt Diana McKnelly; and numerous cousins, as well as many friends. Jason was a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, and close friend to many. He grew up and lived in Arlington, TX. Jason had a work history in the Logistics Industry; including warehouse, forklift driver, delivery driver, and shipping/receiving. Jason had also worked in various construction positions. He also was able to lose some of his fear of heights when he was invited by his son’s other grandfather Adon Contreras to help him hang advertising canvases on billboards, some of which were 80 ft. high. Jason also had an affection for classic vehicles, especially OBS trucks, a passion he shared with his father and brother. An excitement that he has passed on to all 3 of his sons. He also loved music in which he loved to sing-along with. He cherished watching and playing football with his sons & his son’s friends. He loved to go fishing & camping and could hardly wait for spring or early summer to get here to be able to try to go fishing/camping again. Joseph Scala 1944-2024 Joseph Scala, 79, of Arlington, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 27th 2024. Joe was the son of Anthony and Rose Scala, husband to Betty, and father of Noelle. He is survived by his daughter, Noelle, son-in-law, Mike, and his grandson Tyler. Joe honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968. After his service, he worked for the Hawaiian Civil Service at Pearl Harbor and took part in capsule recovery for several Apollo missions. Upon his return to Texas, he owned an automotive mechanic shop and a successful carpentry business. He will be missed by his friends and family.
