"Arthur David Horwitz Aaron Dovid ben Velvel and Miriam June 24, 1929 – February 29, 2024 Arthur David Horwitz, a resident of North Miami Beach, Florida since 1956, passed peacefully on February 29, 2024. Arthur, who was 94 years old, was married to his wife Harriet (OBM) for more than 70 years who passed away at 91 years old on October 15, 2023. He is survived by his children Michael and his wife Devorah, Steven and his wife Lisa, and Jeffery and his wife Ilyse. His grandchildren Joshua and his wife Maria, Benjamin and his wife Mari, Samuel and his wife Sara, Nicole, Anna and her husband Mark, Kevin, Brian, and Austin,; and his great grandchildren Senta, Merci, Genesee, Jessee, Chloe and Yehudah. Arthur was loved by all who met him. He always had a kind word and spoke to everyone as if they were long time friends, regardless of their position or standing. He was gregarious, caring, and one of the original foodies. He carried a list of every one of his favorite restaurants in his shirt pocket and would share them with anyone who asked. Arthur was deeply involved in the travel industry, first in New York, and then in early years of the cruise industry in South Florida both with Costa Line and Italian Lines. In 1971 he and Harriet opened Globe Travel in North Miami Beach, which they operated together for more than 50 years – serving thousands of clients including many well know sports figures and entertainers. He served his community as a Regional Vice President of B’nai Brith, the Caribbean Tourism Association, the Travel Industry Association, the Board of Directors of Point Bank, and on the board of Ronald MacDonald House in Miami. He was very active in the North Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce and served as an Assistant Scoutmaster in Cub Scout Pack 271 in North Miami Beach. Arthur served in the United States Army as a Gunnery Sargent during the Korean War from February 1951 until he was honorably discharged in 1958. The family asks that donations be made to Ronald MacDonald House in Miami, Florida in his memory. Chapel Services will be held on Monday March 4, at Lakeside Memorial Park located at 10301 NW 25th street, Miami Florida 33172. Charles Sherrell lived a life of accomplishment, integrity, and excellence. As he returns to his Heavenly Maker, he is dearly missed by his loving wife, brothers, nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, cousins, grandchildren, and many friends. Charles, ever the sportsman, excelled at football, golf, skiing, and scuba diving over his lifetime. He also had lesser known talents in arts and crafts, including needle arts, toy-making, baking, and gourmet cooking. He was a consummate businessman and leader, ushering a small Chicago radio station into national recognition in the 80’s and 90’s. His love of music, specifically gospel, blues, and jazz, was legendary. An avid reader, thinker, and true man of God, Charles was always willing to share his wisdom and experience with those around him. He and his beloved wife of over 50 years traveled the world, toured the United States many times, and brought joy and laughter to all who knew them. Charles will always be remembered with admiration and loved by those he leaves behind.

Mark A. Burdick, 60, of Lisbon, CT, devoted and loving partner of Joyce Brown, passed away on February 8, 2024, in Miami, Florida. Born June 10, 1963, in Norwich, he was the son of the late David and Dolores (Patsky) Burdick of Uncasville. Mark graduated from Montville High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the Air Force as a mechanic stationed at Nellis AFB in Nevada and Shaw AFB in South Carolina. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, AF training ribbons, and his unit was honored with the Outstanding Unit Award. Mark continued his career in construction, cement, and masonry throughout the region until his retirement. He was a member of the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers, the American Legion Post 112 in Montville, the Silver Star Athletic Club in Occum, and most recently the Key Colony Beach community in Florida. Mark loved the outdoors, warm weather, and the water; he spent his childhood playing, fishing, and exploring the fields, forest, and shoreline along the Thames River. He had a kind and gentle spirit and a love for cooking. He mastered old school recipes for kielbasa and developed his own secret recipes for the best jerky, smoked meats, BBQ, and grilled seafood. Delicious! Mark and Joyce traveled the East Coast down to Florida during the last several years, with various adventures along the way—including gem rock mining, car racing, camping, and watching the release of turtles from the Turtle Rescue Hospital in Marathon, Florida. They spent their fall/winter months together in the Florida Keys. Mark will be missed by Joyce, her son David, and his family. His sister Audrey (Burdick) Zaccaro of Colchester, her children Christopher, Daniel, and Chelsea, and their families. His sister-in-law Beth Shepard Burdick of Farmington, her children Joshua and Laura, and their families. His sister Patricia (Burdick) Cirillo (deceased) of Niantic, her children Andrea, Melissa, and Rachel, and their families. In addition, he leaves many good friends from Connecticut and Key Colony Beach, FL. Mark will be dearly missed by his favorite dandelion and great-niece, Madelynn Zaccaro, and his best friend from childhood Jeff Keefe with whom he had very special relationships. Mark was predeceased by his parents David and Dolores, his sister Patricia, and his brother-in-law David Zaccaro. Funeral arrangements are private; there will be a planned Celebration of Life for Mark in late Spring 2024. Donations may be made in c/o the American Diabetes Association www.diabetes.org, the Turtle Rescue Hospital in Marathon, FL www.turtlehospital.org or a charity of the donor’s choice.
